A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 17 Return Gift

“Mrs. Stuart, calm down! It’s not worth getting sick over!” Ranita paused and sent Amiya a list on her phone. “Mrs. Stuart, there’s one more thing I need your help with. The items on this list are my personal belongings still at Boulderland Mansion. Should I call the police to retrieve them or can you gather them and deliver them to me?”

“Ranita!” Amiya couldn’t hold back any longer and gritted her teeth in anger. “How dare you order me around?”

“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Ranita replied sarcastically, her tone cool as ice. “You’re far superior to me.”

With that, Ranita left while Amiya nearly threw her coffee cup in frustration.

Feeling relieved after completing her work, Ranita stopped by the studio to pick up some files when she ran into Shannon in the VIP elevator.

Shannon was dressed elegantly in a white dress and held a branded coffee cup as she looked down at Ranita with an air of superiority.

Ranita cursed under her breath for being so unlucky today – unwanted people kept popping up before her eyes.

In her contemplation, she heard Shannon’s sweet and cloying voice from behind, “Ranita, I heard that only company executives or VIPs can use this exclusive elevator. Why don’t you go to the next one?”

“Thank you for reminding me, Miss Murphy but unfortunately I have special clearance from Mr. Stuart,” replied Ranita calmly as she pressed the floor button.

The elevator doors closed.

On the pristine elevator wall, there were only two indistinct figures. Shannon, unable to contain herself, spoke first, “Ranita, do you know that Brendon and I are getting married?”

Ranita glanced at her with a calm tone, “I don’t know when you plan to get married, but I do know that although I signed a divorce agreement, I haven’t gone through the legal process yet! If you’re too hasty, he might end up committing bigamy!”

“You!” Shannon raised her hand angrily but before she could throw the coffee, Ranita held onto her wrist first and said calmly, “Miss Murphy, don’t bully innocent people all day long. Remember, even rabbits bite when they’re cornered.”

“Ranita, you’re hurting my wrist… aren’t you afraid I’ll tell Brendon about this? You’re bullying me!”

Shannon brought up Brendon again, but this time, Ranita pointed to the surveillance camera above their heads, “There’s a camera here. Do you really want Brendon to see your face like this?”

“After all, you’re supposed to be a sweet young lady rather than an uncivilized woman who throws coffee at others.”

Every word and sentence was a mockery, causing Shannon’s face to instantly change. She was angry and frustrated.

“Ranita, you’re really quick-witted!” Shannon gritted her teeth, unable to maintain her sweet expression any longer.

But Ranita hit the nail on the head with her words. If this escalated and Brendon saw the surveillance footage, how would he view Shannon? She couldn’t take that risk!Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

“You won’t do it again! After all, we learn from our mistakes, don’t we?” With those words, Ranita tightened her grip on Shannon’s wrist. The pain made Shannon scream, “Ranita, let go of me! What are you doing?! You said there’s surveillance here! If you hurt me in any way Brendon won’t spare you…”

Ignoring her protests completely, Ranita calmly took the still-warm coffee from Shannon’s hand.

The next second, Ranita poured the coffee directly onto Shannon’s chest without batting an eyelid.

-Splash

After a brief moment of shock, Shannon let out a sharp cry, “Ah!”

“Hmph.” Ranita spoke emotionlessly, “This is my gift to you, Miss Murphy.”

-Ding Dong

Just then, the elevator doors opened. Ranita said casually, “Oh by the way, the elevator surveillance has been under repair for these past few days. So it probably didn’t capture what you wanted.”

As she turned around, Ranita’s smile froze.
