Love’ss 143
Chapter 143
Andrew was now in a good mood from being soothed by Madelyn, but she still got an earful and was sternly warned not to see Easton again after they reached the company.
Madelyn might have agreed to whatever he said right then, but she still could not get out of bed after being taught a lesson. She fell asleep comfortably in the lounge.
While in her daze, she felt that she had forgotten something. That was when Stella’s call came, leaving her dumbfounded.
On the phone, Stella calmly asked, “What are you doing?”
“I…”
Could she say she was taking a nap? Of course not!
Madelyn quickly got up.
“I’ll bring you lunch right away. Just wait for half an hour.”
After saying that, Madelyn hung up the phone before Stella could respond. She smacked her forehead, wishing she could just end herself with that smack.
Truly, good–looking men could lead one astray.
She secretly vowed that from now on, she would avoid Easton like the plague, or it could lead to a lot of trouble.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Half an hour later, Madelyn brought the meal to Stella’s
ward. Stella’s piercing gaze made her feel more uneasy than when she had to deal with Andrew.
“You must be starving, right? Eat up.”
With a warm smile, Madelyn approached Stella in an ingratiating manner.
With Carrie unable to be there and the Jimenez family the way they were, Madelyn was the only one Stella could count on. Madelyn didn’t think she would mess up like this.
Compared to Madelyn’s unease, Stella seemed indifferent.
“It’s fine. I’m already past the point of hunger!”
Madelyn wondered how hungry Stella was for her to be past the point of hunger.
When Madelyn gave it some thought, she realized that she was also past the point of hunger.
“You’re not the only one who hasn’t eaten. I didn’t even have breakfast!”
When she went to Garcia Manor the day before, she didn’t have anything to eat, but Andrew remembered that she wouldn’t have eaten and prepared lunch for her at the
company.
But since he was angry that day, there was no one to care about her meals. Madelyn felt aggrieved as she thought
about it.
When Stella heard that she hadn’t even had breakfast, she wasn’t as angry anymore and raised her eyebrow, asking, ” What happened earlier?”
Madelyn recounted the whole story of running into Easton while getting her lunch.
The more Stella listened, the more she felt that Easton must have severely offended Madelyn.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dumped the soup on him.
“Since Andrew seemed angry earlier, I completely forgot about you. Please don’t be mad, okay?” Madelyn coaxed her.
After hearing what Madelyn said, Stella wasn’t angry
anymore.
She and Carrie had long been fed up with Easton. It was only Madelyn who had treated him like a king.
Now that Madelyn was clear–headed, Stella couldn’t be happier for her.
“Then shall we eat together?” Stella suggested.
She figured that Madelyn must be starving since she hadn’t even had breakfast. She would have complained about her hunger long ago if she hadn’t been so upset.
As Madelyn looked at the small portion of food she brought,
she shook her head.
“No, thanks. I’ll get something to eat later.”
“Alright then.”
Stella nodded. In actuality, she hadn’t eaten since the night before and was starving. This small portion of food wouldn’t be enough to share.
Right then, Madelyn’s phone vibrated. She glanced at it–it was Andrew!
She felt her heart pounding. She wondered how long she had been out and why he called
She answered it and spoke gently.
“Darling!”
Stella stared at her in disbelief, almost spitting out her soup.
She pondered if this was how Madelyn would usually handle
Andrew.
On the other end of the line, Andrew sounded displeased.
“Where did you go now?”
“I’m at the hospital!”
The air grew silent.
Madelyn heard his quickened breaths and knew he must have misunderstood again.
She quickly said, “I can explain. I’ll be right back.”
She quickly hung up the phone after speaking. He found his
oppressive aura to be way too suffocating.
Madelyn noticed Stella’s strange look as she got up to grab
her bag.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Is he a strict husband?”
Madelyn didn’t know what to say.
She didn’t think there should be such a thing as a strict
husband. But then again, maybe there was.
