Layla was the first to respond to Millie’s message. “Have you received everything? Work diligently in the hospital, and don’t embarrass me!”
Millie pouted as she read the message.
Millie: “Don’t worry, I’ve got this. I won’t embarrass you!”
Terrence: “Even though you didn’t take charge of my company, there must be a celebration for you wherever you go. I’ll handle all the arrangements. Simply focus on your work, and if you’re unhappy, come home and inherit the family property.”
Millie smiled, and her eyes gleamed with both helplessness and happiness. She felt grateful for having a father who eagerly awaited her return home every day in anticipation of passing down his
inheritance.
Julia: “Happy working, Mills. I love you.”
Millie was ecstatic but wondered why Arthur didn’t reply. “@Grandpa, did you arrange anything?”
Arthur, peering through his glasses at the phone screen, was suddenly mentioned. He couldn’t resist texting a message tinged with grievance.
Arthur: “I was about to ask for a charm to ensure your career success, but your grandma discovered it and took away my pocket money.”
Millie: “Good job, Grandma. I agree 100 percent.”
Why didn’t Arthur learn from his past mistake of being tricked into buying the divorce charm? Could the psychic not deceive another old man? Why did Arthur consistently seem to be his preferred target?
Terrence: “What time do you get off work? I’ll pick you up. We’ll go out for dinner to celebrate your new job with the whole family.”
Millie: “Dad, I can’t make it tonight. I have dinner with my colleagues from the department.”
Terrence: “Don’t be stingy when treating everyone to a meal. Be generous! Make sure to mention my name at the restaurant, and I’ll take care of the bill.”
Julia: “I’ll transfer the money to you.”
Layla: “Use my secondary card to pay.”
Arthur was speechless when he read the messages and quickly wrote, “You guys make me look
stingy.
Layla: “You? Stingy? The psychia praised you for being very generous.”
After reading the group chat, Millie laughed until she could hardly breathe. It was evident that Arthur truly felt aggrieved.
Millie sent a cute child emoji along with a message, Thank you for your care and concern. I am leaving now!”
Terrence: “Work hard. Don’t slack off.”
Millie: “Alright.”
After saying that, Millie set down her phone. When she reflected on the love her family had for her, Millie felt an immense sense of joy.
In the evening, everyone was ready to go to the restaurant. Millie forgot her phone and had to go back to get it. As soon as she opened the office door, she heard something fall to the ground. She quickly turned on the light and locked eyes with Wanda.
Wanda was shocked as she quickly hid something behind her back, standing next to a trash can. She seemed a bit flustered and attempted to nonchalantly browse through the files with one hand.
“Can you read it without turning on the light?” Millie asked. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“I’ve done reading. I’m heading off now,” Wanda explained.
Millie knew exactly what she was doing. She pretended to have seen nothing, picked up her phone,
and left.
Wanda sighed in relief and hastily stashed all the items she had retrieved from the trash into her bag. Expensive scarf, limited–edition perfume, and unlimited shopping cards. Only a fool wouldn’t want them!
At the Jiican restaurant, everyone had changed into casual attire and started placing their orders for the meal. “I want more salmon and prawns!”
“Their crab is absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it to everyone!”
As everyone was placing their orders, the private room door was pushed open. All eyes turned to see Joanna walking in. They couldn’t help but wonder why she had decided to show up since she
rejected the invitation earlier. Joanna took a seat across from Millie.
Millie looked up from her phone indifferently and noticed Joanna, who had arrived unexpectedly. She asked coldly, “I thought you said you weren’t coming?”
“Since it is a department dinner, I have to attend. Otherwise, people might assume I have something against a newcomer like you.” Joanna smiled and took the menu.
Millie narrowed her eyes as Joanna asked, “Can I eat anything and order as much as I want?”
“As long as it doesn’t go to waste,” Millie replied calmly.
