After the gathering, Winston escorted Joanna back to her home.
Millie was the last one to leave. She headed to the cashier to settle the bill for the additional food they had ordered. However, she was informed that Winston had already taken care of it.
Upon realizing that Winston’s kind gesture was not directed at her, Millie felt jealous. At this moment, she envied Joanna even more. Joanna had the power to make Winston fall deeply in love with her.
Millie glanced at the clock and realized it was already 10:00 pm. She couldn’t understand why she was feeling so utterly exhausted. Perhaps it was because it was her very first day at work. She felt extremely drained.
Millie didn’t go home right away. Instead, she sat on the couch in the lobby for a while. After lingering there for a period of time, just as she was about to doze off, she thought she saw Winston at the
entrance.
Millie thought she was dreaming. Hence, she rubbed her eyes and stood up, planning to go home and rest. But as she stood up, the figure became clearer and approached her. It was truly Winston.
He adorned a black shirt, a slightly disheveled tie, and a pair of black suit pants. His physique was perfect, with broad shoulders, a slender waist, and long, straight legs.
As she looked up, Millie’s gaze landed on his face. He pursed his lips and gazed at her with captivating eyes set above a high nose bridge; his mesmerizing eyebrows were tightly furrowed.
Millie couldn’t help but swallow hard. She had been attracted to Winston’s physique in university and had the desire to be intimate with him.
She was particularly drawn to his butt and desired the sensation of touching it. Additionally, she found his chest and abdominal muscles highly attractive. However, she lacked the courage to act on
her desires.
“Why didn’t you go home?” he asked first in a dull voice.
Millie shook herself awake from her vivid daydream. The realization that a flawless man like him didn’t belong to her left her feeling frustrated. She yelled, “It’s none of your business!”
When Millie walked past Winston, he grasped her slender arm. She was too skinny, causing him to hesitate. It was as though he might inadvertently harm her.
His annoyance was evident as he frowned and asked, “Are you going out of your mind again?”
“You’re going out of your mind, not me.” Millie shrugged off Winston’s hand.
She walked out, and Winston followed her. Millie turned to look at him, wondering why he was following her.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“I’m going to drive you home,” he answered simply. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Millie couldn’t help but find it rather amusing. “Mr. Greer, you seem very busy.”
He was busy taking Joanna home, then returning to take her back home again.
“Stop talking nonsense,” he exclaimed as he pulled Millie toward the car.
Millie quickly pulled her wrist back and asked, “Who do you think you are? You’re just my ex– husband. What gives you the right to be so mean and arrogant toward me?”
She used to comply with his every wish. Whenever he was displeased, she would blame herself for causing his unhappiness.
But now, she was like a wild rose, with thorns covering her body. Her once excessive obedience has transformed into an intense rebelliousness.
“Me being your ex–husband is enough reason to send you home.” He pulled Millie into the car.
However, Millie was too weak to break free and was forcibly taken into the car by Winston. Fuming with anger, she banged against the car window and shouted, “I don’t want to go home. Let me go!”
“Where are you going at this late hour if you don’t go home?” Winston questioned.
“It’s none of your business where I’m going. Just open the door!” Millie glared at Winston.
Winston stared at her and fastened her seatbelt, securing her in place. He then moved closer toward Millie, locking eyes with her.
He asked playfully, “Are you headed to the nightclub to find a man? Or are you off to the Harrison residence to look for Simon? Hmm?”
