Chapter 2696
Picking up his cup, Sunny chuckled, “I raised Cam as a son for more than 20 years. She had a fiery temper before I sent her to the military school.”
Nick did not say anything.
After a long while, Sunny looked at him and continued. “Nick, although you’re my disciple, I’ve long treated you as my son. My wife passed away early, and now Cam is married. I think I’ve already lived my life to the fullest. Now, I’ll just have to wait until death comes and claims me.”
Nick’s pupils flickered, and he said, “You are in good health and are still far from the end of your life.”
Sunny chuckled. “I still have about 20 to 30 years left, but it’ll come sooner or later.”
Nick took a sip of tea.
“When are you getting yourself a wife, then?”
Nick froze for a moment when he heard the question. However, he soon regained his.composure and replied, “It isn’t the right time yet. I’ll just go with the flow and wait for the right person to show up.”
Sunny drank the tea and said, “You’re right. You don’t know when the right person will appear, but they’ll eventually appear anyway.”
Four months later…
The Honorary Gold Award Film Festival was held in Asperia. There were plenty of stars and celebrities sitting in the audience seats.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
James, Hannah, and Howard sat together. The rest of the celebrities and actors had their own designated seats while Amy sat beside them.
The host stood on the stage and read out loud, “The following representative works have been shortlisted for the Honorary Gold Award Film Festival, The Twins, Back to 1980, You’re My Spring, Battle at the Murray Sea…”
After the host finished reading the list of works, he paused for a few seconds before continuing with a smile on his face. “And The Fog, the major hit this year. First of all, congratulations to all the winners!”
A round of applause rang from the audience seats.
Hannah went closer to James and said, “If you still didn’t get the award after participating in this movie, Daise and Mr. Johnson would be so disappointed.”
James clicked his tongue and said, “It’s none of your business, right?”
She snorted. “I’m just caring about you.”
After that, the winning director was announced, and as expected, Shannon got the honorary award for best director with The Fog.
Shannon got on the stage to receive the award and delivered his speech. “Thank you to all of you who are here, all of the guests, and the actors I worked with on The Fog. All of you are the best!
“Without you, I wouldn’t be able to stand here. Of course, I’d like to thank my production team and two other people, both of whom are familiar to you, Ms. Vanderbilt and Mr. Knowles.
“When we were shooting in Coralia, we encountered a blizzard and were left in the snow because our car broke down. It was Daisie and Mr. Knowles who gave their car to the production team so they could
evacuate with their equipment while they stayed with us through the blizzard.”
Everyone in the audience’s seats fell silent.
Shannon gripped his trophy tightly and continued. “Although we faced a lot of problems during the
shooting, we still made it in the end and were able to get such a positive response from everyone. This isn’t my own effort but the joint effort of all the crew members and cast. I would like to thank everyone for that.”
After he finished speaking, he made a bow at the audience, and a thunderous round of applause erupted. After the other director awards were announced, it was time for the actor awards. There were more than ten nominated actors. Some of them were veteran actors, while others were experienced actors. Even Howard and Daisie, who couldn’t attend the festival because of her pregnancy, were nominated.
The host flipped to the last page and said, “Seems like we still have one more winner, and this is surprising. This nominee will receive an award for the first time. He’s able to get approval from the public for his first movie, so I’m sure he must’ve put in a lot of effort.”
