A Lifetime With You Chapter 99
Chapter 99
The Newton family did not hesitate to take advantage of this opportunity to counterattack. It was also at this moment that Damien finally realized that he could no longer remain so down. “Since the Newton family has decided to play this game, then I’ll show them who is the boss in the business world.” Selden laughed in a low voice, “Well, that’s the Damien Radbury I know.” He looked at the sea once again. There was no breeze, and it was a calm day. However, no one knew how long the peace would last before a storm appeared. “I’m not involved between you and the Newton family, so I won’t stick my nose into this matter… I’m leaving in two days. Damien, don’t mess this up.” Selden suddenly said.
“Where are you going?” “Avarnia. I might stay there for a long time, and I guess we won’t have a chance to see each other anymore.” Damien did not ask Selden the reason he was going abroad. In this period of time, they started to talk a lot more than before because of Ava’s matter. But this did not mean that they were friends.
The seagulls in the distance flew back and hovered above the sea.
Dark clouds began to gather on the horizon, and it was about to rain.
Half a year later, in Avarnia. It was a coastal town as it was near the sea. It was a place with a slow pace of life, which was quite suitable for relaxation or retirement. The scenery here was also amazing. Selden had been here for half a year, so he was already used to the relaxing lifestyle here. He was reluctant to get up when it was already the middle of the day. The bedroom door was pushed open by a woman. She then shouted at him, “Get up now! Didn’t we agree to go to the fair this morning?” “Uh… It’s still so early… Let me sleep a little more.” Selden tu ied over and continued to sleep. The woman gave him an annoyed look. Then she walked over and lifted his covers.
He was surprised and pulled the covers over his body, “What are you doing! What if I’m not wearing any pants?”
“We are married. Even if you’re not wearing anything, so what? Also, aren’t you in your pajamas?” Selden hesitated for a moment and then he began to laugh. It had been half a year, but he still hadn’t gotten used to being a ‘husband’. However, he had always dreamt of being one. The woman in front of him who had been carrying a baby for six months sat down on the bed clumsily.
Although they had been sleeping in separate rooms because of her pregnancy, she felt that their love for each other must be very strong. Hence, he was so considerate and even knew about everything she liked.
“Ava, sleep with me for another ten minutes, okay?”
Selden grinned shamelessly. He put his arm around her shoulder and forced her to lie on him.
Her body stiffened for a moment and she subconsciously tried to dodge him.
It was really strange. They were husband and wife, but every time she got near to him she felt like she still hadn’t gotten familiar with him. She felt a little repulsed when they had physical contact, even if it was just holding hands. She had been trying very hard not to show the repulse she felt. Fortunately, he had always been respectful and never went over the boundaries. “You’d better get up. Both my baby and I are hungry. I want to eat the spaghetti at the corner of the street.” She spoke with a lovely tone. Selden immediately sat up from the bed. “Right! I shouldn’t starve my wife and my child.” He inched nearer to her and placed a kiss on her face out of nowhere. Then he ran downstairs without wearing even his indoor slippers. Ava covered her face with a hand. There was a strange feeling in her heart. As soon as Selden walked out of the room, his smile faded. He touched his lips and looked up at the sky with a sigh. She was already by his side and she didn’t know anything at this point. But why was it so hard to get nearer to her? “Sweetheart, what kind of spaghetti do you want?” He yelled into the room. “The one we ordered a few days ago. I want the same thing!” Ava stuck her head out of the room and smiled at him.
He responded with a bigger smile. Half a year ago, he found her in a suburban hospital about ten kilometers away from the jetty. After she fell into the sea, she was washed ashore by the tide and rescued by the tourists who spotted her. After being sent to the hospital, she lost her memory and completely forgot who she was. 2 It was also because of this that Damien’s men couldn’t find her even when they searched the hospitals. Ava’s amnesia must have prevented her real name to be recorded.
As for Selden, he saw Ava in the city’s hospital when she was transferred from the suburban ward.
Anyway, it was undeniable that he had selfish motives.
It was because of his selfishness that he hid the news of Ava being alive and he secretly brought her abroad. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
He told her that he was her husband and that the child in her belly was theirs. He was very familiar with everything about her, which included all her hobbies and daily habits… He even showed her photos of them from high school to prove how close they were.
Therefore, Ava completely believed him. She only thought that she had lost her memory because of an accident. She thought everything could restart all over again. Selden went outside to get the spaghetti, but Ava only ate two mouthfuls and she couldn’t eat much.
“Why aren’t you eating? Are you feeling uncomfortable again?” Selden asked with concern. “No, I just have something on my mind.” “Uh, what’s that?” “Hm, why can’t I remember anything from the past? You have taken me to the doctors so many times and you are a doctor yourself!” Selden laughed and said, “The human brain is a very complicated structure. You must have damaged part of your brain when you fell into the sea. That’s why you still can’t recall anything.” “How mean are you! Are you trying to say that I’m out of my mind?” Ava pretended she was about to hit him and he quickly dodged while grinning cheekily. He then took the opportunity to kiss her on the forehead again. Her cheeks flushed red and her hands stiffened in mid-air. “Well, I’ll stop fooling around. Anyway, I am now by your side. If
you want to know what happened before, I will tell you slowly.” Ava did not say anything else. In the past six months, he told her a lot of things about her past from time to time, including her own family as well as their previous school days. However, she somehow felt that she must have forgotten something very important. Otherwise, why would she feel so empty? “Selden, tell me. Did I forget something that even you don’t know about? If I can’t recall it, that would be a pity, wouldn’t it?” “Are you kidding me? We grew up together, I’m pretty sure I know everything there is to know about you. Even when you farted.” Selden deliberately made a joke. But she still had doubts in her heart. “But, what you told me are things that happened a long time ago. You rarely told me what happened in the past two years.”
