Chapter 15
Chapter 15
At the crack of dawn the next morning in the Chadwick family’s cozy villa.
The chauffeur had been waiting at the doorstep for a while. When he saw Gwendolyn. approaching, he respectfully opened the car door for her.
Just as Gwendolyn was about to step into the car, she noticed Howard lounging inside. He appeared aloof and detached, yet a small red birthmark on his neck added a touch of restraint to his demeanor.
Gwendolyn was taken aback.
She had mentioned to Howard over breakfast that she intended to visit the local apothecary to purchase some herbs, but she hadn’t expected him to be waiting in the car.
“I’ll come with you.” Howard said, his voice even and calm.
With a modest nod, Gwendolyn agreed.
As the car made its way through the streets, he was engrossed in his phone, while she looked out the window, her mind wandering restlessly.
“We’re here. It’s tricky to park right in front of Lifespan Locust Pharmacy.”
The chauffeur parked the car at a lot at the end of the street.
Gwendolyn glanced at Howard’s legs and suggested, “Mr. Chadwick, perhaps you should wait here for me.”
“Alright.”
His only concern was for her safety as she ventured out alone..
While Howard continued to check his phone in the car, Gwendolyn headed towards the bustling
street.
Lifespan Locust Pharmacy was the largest apothecary in Bayridge City. From a distance, Gwendolyn could see a dense crowd of people causing a commotion.
As she drew closer, she overheard that the pharmacy had been selling subpar herbs, and the customers had come to demand an explanation, leading to the dispute.
“Our herbs are of the highest quality. If you can’t provide evidence, stop slandering us!” the pharmacist shouted, his face flushed with anger, “Who’s to say you’re not trying to scam us?”
“That’s nonsense! I’ve got the prescription right here!”
“Compensate us! You’re making a killing off of rotten goods! What if someone gets seriously
ill?”
The pharmacist tried to dismiss the crowd harshly, “Don’t make a scene! You wouldn’t want to cross our boss. There would be no good in that!”

He then closed the door, and the crowd began to push and shove in confusion.
Suddenly, a scream pierced the air!
“Someone’s fainted!”
“Call an ambulance! Is there a doctor around?”
A pale young man lay on the ground, his breathing faint, unconscious. The bystanders were afraid to touch him, fearing he might die on them right there!
At the sight of this, Gwendolyn hurried over and asked, “Could everyone please step back a bit and make sure there’s enough air?”
She knelt down to check on the patient. His limbs were cold, his eyes sunken, his mouth agape. This was a simple case of fainting due to weakness. She took a needle from her sleeve and inserted it into his body to revive his spirit and clear his senses.
Her expression was composed, her fingers incredibly steady. A true expert could see the skill in her needling.
“Are you sure you know what you’re doing? This is a life–and–death situation. It’s not child’s play to be playing the hero…” A middle–aged onlooker began to criticize, but before he could finish, the handsome and frail man slowly opened his eyes.
“He’s awake! He’s awake!”
“Who would’ve thought a young girl could be so capable!”
Valor Peterson came to, only to see a girl with delicate features and a pure aura leaning over him like a fairy. A look of infatuation flashed in his eyes as he prepared to thank her.
But Gwendolyn spoke, “You have weakness in your waist and knees, a deficiency in your kidney. You should go to the hospital for a thorough check–up. Given the circumstances, I could only use acupuncture.”
He nearly fainted all over again.
After ensuring the man was stable, Gwendolyn removed the needles and left. Since Lifespan Locust Pharmacy was compromised, she decided to visit Elixir Emporium across the street instead.
“Young man, the lady said you’ve got a weak kidney. Take my advice. The more you lose the sexual control, the less effective your kidney becomes. Take care of your health,” a well–meaning bystander bellowed. Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
So embarrassed, Valor felt like he could just drop dead, right there.
“Valor, my precious son!” Alberta, bedecked in gold and silver, clutching her purse, rushed over, tears streaming down her face, “I’ve always told you not to mess with those herbal remedies. Why didn’t you listen? You even believe in those bullshits!”
“Mom, stop calling my name!” Valor lay weak on the ground on the verge of tears. Talk about a

cringe moment.
The crowd buzzed with the recounting of the near disaster and the young lady’s advice.
