Can't Win Me Back

Chapter 41

Silas was still furious about what Jasper did. He was about to start ranting when Alyssa glared at him, which shut him up.

“What the hell? I’ll go beat him up right now!” Sean exclaimed,

Sean was about to get up and leave when Alyssa called out to him. “It’s fine. You can’t beat him in a fight anyway. He used to be a member of the Peacekeeping Forces, after all. You might get beaten up instead.”

She continued, “Besides, he didn’t mean to hurt me. That man always underestimates his strength, after all. He doesn’t care about me at

all,”

“Why do you sound like you’ve known him for a long time, Ms. Alyssa?”

Alyssa looked dazed for a moment. Then, she pursed her lips and kept mum.

Sean didn’t know her exact relationship with Jasper for now. She didn’t mean to hide the truth from him. It was just that she was too lazy to explain everything to him.

Alyssa’s relationship with Jasper was already over. She no longer wished to have anything to do with him.

Silas brewed a cup of coffee for Alyssa once they returned to the mansion. At the same time, he kept cussing at Jasper for being an inhuman bastard. The thing was, he had been ranting about Jasper on their way home.

“I’m sorry, Silas.” Alyssa looked down at her feet guiltily.

“Huh? Why are you apologizing to me?”

Silas was surprised to hear the apology. He placed a hand on Alyssa’s forehead immediately. “Are you having a fever? Why are you spouting nonsense?”

“No. I had to ask for your help to keep my identity a secret since Jonah went to Yoarkley on a business trip. I was worried you’d think I was using you the whole time …”

Alyssa’s voice grew softer as she spoke.

“What are you talking about, you silly brat?”

Silas walked over to Alyssa and gave her a comforting hug. All he felt was sorrow and heartbreak for his younger sister. He made sure to avoid touching her injured arm while hugging her.

“We’re your older brothers. It’s our duty to protect you. If you get married again in the future, we’ll become your bodyguards.”

Silas felt his words weren’t reassuring enough. So, he added, “Even if you stay single for the rest of your life, we’ll still protect you. You can rely on us.”

Alyssa smiled happily in response.

Jasper didn’t focus on the meeting in the afternoon, thanks to Alyssa’s injury. He didn’t pay attention to the senior managers who made their respective reports in front of him. (1)

Everyone else noted the minor injury on the corner of Jasper’s mouth. He looked quite pissed off at the same time. Still, no one dared to ask him what happened. They feared him so much that they didn’t dare to say a thing. (1)

Jasper, despite being a bastard son, wielded unquestioned authority in the Beckett Group.

The first wife’s son was born with poor health. He spent his entire life recuperating in Randerland. There was word about his medical condition worsening from time to time. Apparently, the son was now confined in a wheelchair at all times.

Meanwhile, Sophia had two daughters. The first daughter was 25 years old, whereas the second daughter was 20. Unfortunately, they weren’t skilled enough to take over the family company.

This left Jasper as the perfect candidate to become the heir of the Beckett Group. After all, he was competent and talented. If someone

“Mr. Beckett, someone has swooped in and snatched the Willow Group’s hotel from us,” one of the senior managers reported.

“Who was it?” It was true that Jasper didn’t pay attention to the meeting, but that didn’t mean he didn’t listen to the reports. He quickly snapped out of his thoughts and focused on the manager.

“It was the KS Group. The Willow Group has transferred the hotel’s ownership to that company. That hotel will be rebranded as the second

KS World Hotel in Solana City.”

Jasper’s body went stiff before his eyes darkened immediately.

“Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

“Our team was engaged in a negotiation with the representatives from the Willow Group. They were about to seal the deal when Mr. Taylor suddenly swooped in and snatched the deal away. We didn’t think this would happen.”

The manager was so intimidated that his face turned ashen.

“Our team was about to seal the deal, you say? I think it’s time for you to retire.”

Even though Jasper looked calm, his deep voice could strike fear into everyone.

“Didn’t I tell you that the hotel is just two thousand feet from the Global Studios? That theme park’s construction will be done in two years! I told you before that we need to secure the hotel in the shortest possible time, even if it means paying twice the rate!

“You kept worrying over nothing. On top of that, you lack the courage to make important decisions! That’s why the KS Group was able to snatch up our deal! How will you and your team take responsibility for our loss?”

The manager could only wipe the sweat off his brow nervously. His knees were already buckling together out of fright.

“You’ll be working in the branch company at Flogand starting next week. If you commit the same mistake again, you’ll be dismissed permanently. No questions asked.”

Once Jasper was done speaking, he walked out of the meeting room. Everyone else looked shocked and frightened at the same time.

It appeared that Jasper was in a terrible mood today. Why else would he be so furious?

“Do you think they are plotting for revenge?” Xavier glanced in the rearview mirror while driving Jasper back to Seaview Manor. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Ms. Gardner attacked Madam Alice recently, after all. Now, Mr. Taylor snatched our business deal from our hands. There’s also the issue about the Gardners‘ products having quality–related problems.”

Xavier added, “Do you think Mr. Taylor is the mastermind behind the exposure, Mr. Beckett? Then again, the Gardners deserved to get

exposed

Jasper raised his head to gaze at the rearview mirror. As a result, Xavier fell silent immediately.

“There’s a tailor shop up ahead. Stop the car.”
