Chapter 36
Paxton was putting on his suit jacket ready to go home when the door flew open with an angry Jaxton matching towards him like a viper.
He stood transfixed to the floor groping at his obnoxious twin who wore a really tight expression. He would be damned if he says he doesn’t know what caused his ugly reaction, actually he was secretly expecting his comeback.
Jaxton screeched to a stop right in front of Paxton and he didn’t waste any time in speaking his mind.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“I’m sure I clearly told you to stay out of my path, or do I need to spell it out for you?” He said under his teeths, trying really hard to control his anger.
Paxton huffed, “this is really going to be a long conversation…” he took a few steps backwards, this way he was close to his desk and relaxed on it.
“I see you’re really enjoying this.”
“If putting that gold digger in her place is such a big crime to you then I fear she has fooled you already-”
“Paxton!!!” Jaxton growled, his hands balling into a fist behind him.
Paxton adjusted his jacket, “is this really necessary?” He scoffed, looking daringly at him.
Paxton was only trying to infuriate Jaxton the whole time he had on a wide grin, one enough to tear his face. Jaxton felt his insides grumble in irritation.
“If you continue mendling in my love life you won’t like what I would do to you.”
“Your love life? Pfft… ” he snorted. “That woman is just using you, she’s-”
“A golddigger who doesn’t really care about me… ” Jaxton cuts him off. “That’s not your fucking business Paxton! Ain’t you no longer that busy man cause I was so jealous of you then, just leave the woman alone and let me face it. I want to face it myself!!” He gnarled.
Paxton stared at him in shock, he couldn’t understand why Jaxton was so mad with him. He was trying to avoid the repercussions he would face later, women like Sydney who frequents the club are of no good but will his naughty brother know?
With a tired voice he said, “I did that for you and besides you shouldn’t be so upset when she’s just your plaything–”
“Plaything-” the word ruffled out of his lips.
He looked at Paxton and laughed, a smirk played out from his lips and he took daring steps towards him, stopping right at his feets. A snort drew out of his throat and he positioned his face to meet Paxton’s, in a way that they couldn’t look away from each other’s eyes.
“I don’t care what you think of her, Paxton. You should go on hating her but this is going to be the last time I will warn you, don’t ever treat her like trash!” He yelled suddenly.
A punch drove into the desk Paxton was resting on causing him to flinch.
“Wake up Jaxton, you’re taking this too far.” He was forced to shout but Jaxton was firm and meant every word that came out of his mouth.
“Do not prick my anger bro, don’t get on my nerves cause you know how I get when someone steps on them’.”
“What’s gotten into you! She’s totally gaslighting you, you ain’t really shouting at me are you?”
“Sydney is the woman I love, I’ve never been so sure of my feelings so you had better stop whatever nonsense you are doing, this is a warning.” A glint of pain ran past his eyes causing him to growl inwardly.
He really didn’t want to do this but his brother was pushing him, he was in”Do what?” She ripposted.
Jaxton sighed and took her hand into his palm, squeezing it softly. “Don’t ever leave me hanging again, cause I can’t guarantee my actions.”
Sydney passed him a tired look and drawled, “Paxton doesn’t approve of us, I don’t know anymore.. we should just stop seeing each other.”
“Who cares about what Paxton has to say?” he said gruffly. “I wasn’t myself when you ignored me throughout yesterday, I was so fraustrd Please don’t do that again, hmm” he muttered, patting her hair.
“But Paxton–”
“I’m sure you missed me too,” he said, ignoring whatever she had to say. “Why are you so cute today?”
He kept on blabbing about his morning without giving her a chance to talk, after some while he left.
Sydney drew in a long sigh, the twins were giving her a hard time, she’s in a really tight spot right now and she doesn’t know how else to handle the situation.
She knew it wasn’t a good idea to get in between them but not like she could avoid them anyways. They are like pests feeding on her everyday.
Brrrrrrrrrg……
The loud ding of the telecom got her spiralling on her feets. She took the call and it was Paxton asking her into his office immediately.
“That jerk!” She cussed under her breath, inching the air as she imagined it to be his face.
“Sir, you ca-”
The words hung in her mouth as a cup of hot coffee splashed on her, burning some parts of her skin. Her eyes widened as they took in what just happened, over and over.
