Chapter 1244
Eugene made his way to the private room where Lydia was being kept. Just as he was about to open the door, Quincy appeared, his expression cold and tense. "Did you take Lydia?" Quincy demanded, his voice sharp.
Eugene paused, his hand resting on the doorknob, before slowly turning to face him with a slight, almost mocking smile. "What are you talking about? Isn't Lia supposed to be with you?" "Lia?"
"It's a nickname we used to have for her when we were kids," Eugene explained smoothly, his tone calm but laced with an unsettling undertone.
Quincy's eyes narrowed. From the first time he had met Eugene, Quincy had sensed that he wasn't just an ordinary rival.
In their world, few people were truly innocent, but Eugene was different. He was someone whose presence sent chills even through those who thought themselves untouchable.
And someone like that having an obsession with Lydia? Quincy had been on guard from the start, but it seemed this charity event had given Eugene another opening to exploit.
Taking a deep breath, Quincy stepped forward and grabbed Eugene by the collar. "If you really care about her, don't do anything you'll regret. Whatever issue you have, settle it with me like a man. Leave her out of it."
Eugene raised his hand, signaling to his bodyguards to stand down. His eyes flashed with a dangerous gleam, and he repeated Quincy's words with a chilling smile. "Settle it with you? What gives you the right to make demands?"
He leaned in slightly, his voice lowering. "Lydia and I go way back, since we were kids. If we're going by who came first, I was here long before you. You... you're nothing but a thief."
The darkness in Eugene's eyes deepened, and with no one around to witness, he dropped the facade completely. The tension between the two men was palpable, like the stillness before a storm. The sound of waves crashing against the yacht in the distance mirrored the silent clash of wills unfolding between them.
Quincy's fist clenched tightly, and in one swift motion, he landed a hard punch on Eugene, sending him stumbling back. Immediately, the bodyguards rushed forward, grabbing Quincy and restraining him.
In the scuffle that followed, Quincy was beaten, but not without returning the blows. Every punch he took, he gave back just as hard, his desperation and determination driving him to fight for Lydia. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Lydia!" Quincy yelled, his voice hoarse as he called out to the private room, hoping against hope that she was inside.
He had no way of knowing for sure, but his instincts told him she was there. He couldn't bear the thought of leaving without even trying. The mere possibility of Lydia being trapped in that room spurred him on, no matter how slim the chance.
Inside the room, Lydia lay unconscious on the bed, only vaguely aware of the world around her. In her hazy state, she thought she could hear someone calling her name.
She tried to open her eyes but couldn't. Then, through the fog of her mind, she felt someone approach and begin to undo her clothes.
Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes as panic set in. She couldn't move, couldn't fight back, and the fear overwhelmed her.
The figure froze for a moment, clearly surprised by her tears. After a pause, the person gently wiped the tears from her face and whispered, "Don't cry. I won't do anything."
Soon after, Eugene stepped out of the room, his face still marked by Quincy's punch. Quincy, having managed to shake off the bodyguards, stormed forward and punched him again. "You're nothing but a coward," Quincy growled through gritted teeth. "Taking advantage of someone when they're helpless."
Without waiting for a response,
Quincy rushed past Eugene, shoving the door open and running to Lydia's side. He scooped her up from the bed, his arms wrapped protectively around her, checking to make sure she was okay.
Eugene cast a cold, calculating glance in their direction but didn't seem bothered. After all, he had already gotten what he wanted. With one final look at the couple inside, he turned and quietly left.
