Chapter 85
The atmosphere between Susan and Daly seemed a bit awkward as Maja prepared to leave. “I’m
hitting the road.”
Susan and Daly immediately stood up to see her out, personally escorting her to the corner of the
street.
Maja mulled it over In her mind for a while, but in the end, she couldn’t help but voice her doubts,
“I heard a big company wants to start a tourism project in Crystalbrook Valley. If you guys have to
move, what’re you planning to do with the compensation?” In Crystalbrook Valley, houses are relatively
cheap, and you can easily buy a spacious one.
Bringing up this topic, a look of excitement crossed Daly’s face.
“Your cousin still owes tens of thousands in high–interest loans, so I plan to pay off the debt first, then
buy a better house. Maja, are you hinting at something?” Daly hadn’t forgotten Maja once shared a ride
with that boss.
“Well, I’m not sure yet. You and Susan should think it through before making any decisions. You guys
are getting old, and you can’t hand over all the money to Olivia.” Daly cleared his throat, “Oli’s alright,
just a bit lazy.”
“You know, just let it slide.”
Maja saw they didn’t take her advice, so she just made small talk before driving off.
Daly’s hands tightened, his face full of excitement.
“If Maja brought it up, then our area is definitely going to be demolished. Honey, let’s borrow some
more money and buy a few houses around here. Once it’s demolished, we’ll be rolling in dough.”
Susan seemed a bit hesitant, worrying if their neighbors found out they bought houses because of
insider info, they might hold a grudge towards them.
“Well go back and talk with Oli. Maja was in the car with that Boss yesterday. He must’ve let something
slip. This is a golden opportunity. We can sell the car, then the land, borrow some money from
relatives, and should be able to scrape up enough to buy two houses. Then we’ll be in the money!”
At first, Susan was hesitant, but Daly’s words swayed her.
Maja had no idea, the information she unintentionally leaked almost caused a big mess.
She was ready to drive off but realized she left her phone charger at home, so she had to go back.
The town was crowded, and the traffic was terrible, moving at a snail’s pace, almost driving her up the wall.
What should’ve been a half–hour drive took an hour.
There were several people gathered at her front door, including yesterday’s leader, lan, standing by the
door, looking none too pleased.
Maja quickly parked the car, and was about to get out when she saw Olivia parking Daly’s car about a
meter in front of lan.
“Mr. Raymond, weren’t you supposed to stay in Crystalbrook Valley for another day? Seems like your Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
car broke down, why not ride with me? I can give you a lift.”
Olivia had made herself up, and since she was already hanging around Riverside Haven yesterday she
beat Maja to the punch.
Just as Maja got out of the car, she heard Olivia’s offer. Clearly, Olivia hadn’t thrown in the towel.
Olivia was still engaged to her cousin, so she was still treated with respect. She’s not even divorced
yet, and she’s making a move on someone else!
As Maja approached, she noticed not just the windows of lan’s car were smashed, but the tires were
also damaged.
The two leaders on the side looked panicked, not knowing what to do..
Indeed, the big Boss came here to invest, and his fancy car got vandalized where he stayed. Who’s to
say he wouldn’t change his mind out of anger?
lan’s face remained impassive; his gaze cold. Those who knew him knew he was pissed
But Olivia, standing not far from him, was very enthusiastic, pushing people in her way aside to get to
him.
“Mr. Raymond, take my car. It’s not as fancy as yours, but it’s still a well–known brand. There aren’t
many cars like this in town. I had it specially serviced last night, which cost me a pretty penny.”
Her words almost had everyone in stitches.
But clearly, Olivia was oblivious to how cringeworthy her behavior was.
Maja couldn’t stand it any longer and went up to grab her hand.
“Olivia, enough is enough!”
Seeing Maja, Olivia thought, wasn’t she supposed to have left? But deciding Maja couldn’t control her,
she regained her confidence.
“What’s it to you? Weren’t you leaving? Get going.”
Although Maja didn’t turn around, she could feel a cold gaze on her, silently watching her.
For some reason, Maja suddenly felt very embarrassed.
