Chapter 167
Hector POV
All night I thought of Kala's eyes watching me as I lick from her Inner ankle up to her upper thigh. Her big eyes watching my every move as I smelled arousal oozing out of her, I wanted to taste her at that very moment...until we were interrupted.
I had remained aroused all night and struggled to sleep, wanting to knock down her door and finally claim her as mine. But I couldn't, I know I couldn't... she deserved more.
She
needed more time, I won't be that arsehole that forces the bond on her...I won't be him.
It was better I wasn't on the same floor as her, so I came down early to go through things in my office. All of the research I had read so far refers to the white wolf as being a mythical being, something from the fairy tales except for something in an old language that was spoken by our ancestors. Something I can't particularly read well, but from what I can make out it mentions the white wolf bging to the original shifters and was formed to protect the werewolf race from extinction.
It doesn't mention anything about special abilities to immobilise other wolves...maybe that was a fluke, maybe it was the mate bond that was trying to control me from attacking my
own mate.
Perhaps I shouldn't be reading into this more than a fairy tale and she just happens to be of white fur
colour.
Maybe there was nothing more to it....
Ezra has been updating me daily regarding things at the Nightshade Reformed pack and I was on the cusp of sending more warriors, sounds like the Shadow Rock pack is really pushing on their borders.
I have put a contingency plan in place with Ezra, that no matter what, he gets Alora out even if it is to the detriment of the pack.
Kala can't lose her Sister, I won't let that happen. Alora may think she is in charge, that she is the acting Alpha...and for performance purposes she is...but make no mistake how much more in control of things I am than she knows.
The Amber Desert warriors have been pushed back by my own, and I will keep pushing them until they get
the message.
Back off, nothing here concerns you anymore. Once he signs those divorce papers any attachment Kala has to Than will be completely gone.
I hear soft footsteps coming down the stairs, far too soft for either Jude's or Ezra's.
I kept her desk in here, not that she has been using it. She can't even remember her laptop log in details and each time I offer for my IT experts to look into it, she just waves her hands unbothered. She didn't seem ready to revisit her past just yet. But the past has a way of coming back to us all. Ready for it or not.
"Kala?" I call out to her, as I put the research away. I needed more books, I needed to visit Jude's library which held one of the best historical collection in the country.
Hestitantly she pushes on the office door, her eyes scanning the room. Was she expecting others to be in
here.
"You're up early." I offer as she takes a step into the office.
1 couldn't sleep..." She mutters, refusing to look at me. But I don't miss the flushed pink of her cheeks. A smirk forms on my mouth from last night.
...besides I'm used to getting up early to see the doctor." She shrugs as she enters deeper within my
wolf's den.
I watch her intently as she seems to scan my office, like a detective trying to find a hidden murder weapon. I could feel something troubling her through the bond, a sense of unease. "Kaia, I need to go off pack grounds today."
"Oh?"
"I need you to promise me something..."
"Promise you?" Her tone playful.
"Kaia, this is important." I could feel the pull of the bond, that gravity trying to pull me under.
I need you to not shift when I am not here."
"Why?"
"Just, please for once, do as I ask."
I could see the cogs of her mind working, her eyes inadvertently darting to the window.
"Yes my command will work if I am off pack grounds." sigh out in exasperation.
"Where are your parents?"
"My parents?" Of all things, this was on her mind?
"My Father is a retired alpha and my mother...she died when I was young." This seems to shock her, her head whips back to look at me directly. "Do you remember her?"
"Yes I remember her very well." I smile sadly at her.
"What was she like?"
"Like you...kind, gentle...spirited." Her ears listen but her eyes watch my thumb as it traces across my bottom lip.
"Spirited?" She grimaces at the description.
"Unbreakable." I change my wording, which seems to land better on her ears judging by the way the corner of her lips perk up.
"How did she die?" Her question was born out of curiosity and I was fine answering it, I like that she wanted to know me more. Know me more deeply.
"She was human, she got an illness, she died." I hear my own matter of fact tone and even I don't believe
1. it.
"Wait...she was human?" She takes more steps towards me, forgetting that in her keenness to find out more she was losing against her own battle to not show any Interest in me, to continue to fight our bond. "Yes.."
"That makes you.."
"A human hybrid...yes."
"But you are strong.." Her widened eyes scan the length of me.
"The strongest I know.."
"Not the humblest though." She scoffs out as she moves towards her own desk.
"My Father refused to give his pack to me, I have more to prove than any other alpha. I've had to carve my own future out Kala, create my own pack. Prove to other alphas that I deserve this pack not because I was born and it was handed down to me, but that I have bled for my people, bled for this pack."
