Dumping My Fiancé For His Uncle

Chapter 102

She lifted her head, her gaze shifting across the faces of the men before finally landing on the one on the far left.

Even with just a three-point resemblance, it was enough to make Thea momentarily disoriented.

He still carried a hint of youthfulness, pursing his lips in silence, his expression indifferent, seemingly uninterested in everything around him.

Jover teased with a smile, waving at him. "You'll do, the others cith go. His name is Avery Xavier, and he's technically your junior, having graduated from the same university as you. He's currently working under my dad, just graduated, and is a university lecturer.

"He's single. I can vouch for his character, totally trustworthy. He just doesn't talk much. But don't misunderstand. I didn't force anyone to come here. They all volunteered. Anyway, you guys can just get to know each other."

Avery walked over to Thea, his expression unchanged, though the tips of his ears turned slightly red. "Hello, Miss Rowland."

Thea snapped out of her daze and quickly shifted her gaze from his face, politely greeting him. "Hello! In truth. Thea had only been momentarily distracted, noticing a slight resemblance to Nicolas in Avery

Although Thea had impulsively agreed to Joyce's suggestion earlier, she was now beginning to regret it.

Thea forced herself to remain calm. "It's fine. Let's just chat casually. Since you're a friend of Joyce's, that makes you my friend too. No need to be too formal."

Avery nodded slightly.

Fortunately, the conversation didn't fall flat. The three of them shared many common interests, making the talk flow smoothly.

Feeling troubled, Thea began drinking a bit recklessly. Relying on her strong tolerance for alcohol, she downed several bottles without blinking.

However, tonight seemed different. Before reaching her usual limit, she already felt slightly dizzy. Fortunately, her mind remained clear.

Thea subtly avoided Avery's outstretched hand, turning to lean on Joyce's shoulder. "I think I'm a bit drunk. I should head back."

Joyce gasped in concern, her eyes full of worry. "Your face is all flushed. Could you be coming down with something?"

Thea chuckled. "Not that serious. I'll be fine after some rest,"

Joyce exchanged a look with Avery. "I'm going to stay a bit longer. You take her home."

Avery nodded and offered his hand to Thea. "Miss Rowland, I'll call a car for you,"

Outside the bar, the cool night breeze instantly cleared Thea's foggy mind.

Avery was indeed a gentleman. He had noticed that Then wasn't interested in him and maintained proper distance the entire time, avoiding any physical contact.

Now, he was merely helping carry her bag and belongings.

Thea suddenly felt a pang of guilt. Tm sorry. I should've made things clear to Joyce earlier. I didn't intend to lead anyone on. I was just caught up in some unpleasant thoughts, and people tend to make poor decisions when emotional." 1/3

"It's just that I just thought of some unpleasant things. When people are excited, they will always make the wrong decision" Avery smiled, his tone gentle. "Miss Rowland, there's no need to feel burdened. As you said, we're all friends. There's no need to overthink it."

Thea breathed a sigh of relief and changed the subject. "Do you work at Aurelia University?"

"Yes. Avery nodded. "I'll be heading to Key Biskane in a few days to explore new opportunities. After all, I prefer this city." "Good luck." Thea said with a smile.

The mood lightened considerably.

Just then, a blinding light came toward them. A car with its high beams on was speeding its way. Thea and Avery quickly stepped back. Seeing that the car had no intention i

stopping, Thea pushed Avery aside and leaped in the opposite direction.

Instead of hitting the ground, however, she found herself in a warm embrace.

A man's strong hand wrapped around her waist, firmly holding her in place.

As she inhaled the familiar cold scent on him. Thea shivered involuntarily.

"What a coincidence? How could I run into him here?' Thea thought to herself.

The car finally came to a stop, and the driver stumbled out, vomiting heavily. It was clear he had been driving under the influence.

Avery, pale-faced and anxious, rushed over. "Miss Rowland, are you alright?"

He froze momentarily when he saw the striking, imposing man holding Thea. His brow furrowed. "And you are?"

Thea tried to pull away from Nicolas, but a firm grip on her wrist held her in place, making it impossible for her to move out of his embrace. Nicolas cold voice came from above her. "Thea, tell him who I am."

Unsure of his intentions, Thea turned her head slightly. "Mr. Xavier, you can go ahead. I'm fine here."This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.

Nicolas watched Avery walk away, his expression growing even darker.

"Why didn't you just say who I am? Am I in the way of you meeting someone new?" His grip on her wrist tightened.

Thea felt increasingly dizzy, her abdomen cold, and her legs weak.

She forced herself to respond. "Mr. Hendrix, have you forgotten? You specifically told me not to reveal our relationship to others.

"Avery works under President Maddox," she added.

Nicolas's expression softened slightly, but he was still visibly upset. "If I hadn't run into you today, I wouldn't have known my wife was out drinking and having fun." rein

Thea bit her lip, feeling a tinge of grievance. "I don't interfere in your private matters, so why do you have to inter re in mine?"

She immediately regretted her words. The atmosphere grew tense and silent, giving Thea a bad feeling. The next second, Nicolas scooped her up into his arms. Mon,

Thea struggled, wanting to protest. If they were unlucky, someone familiar might see them at the door, which wouldn't Took good.

But Nicolas didn't give her a chance to speak, forcefully shoving her into the car, fastening her seatbelt, and telling the driver. "Drive. Home."

The driver hesitated. He remembered that Nicolas had come here tonight because Stephanie had called him, saying she was feeling down and drinking at the bar.

Nicolas had originally only sent Darwin to check on her, but when Stephanie insisted, Nicolas left his work and came over himself, only to stumble upon this situation at the entrance.

The driver wanted to ask whether Nicolas still planned to check on Stephanie. But seeing Nicolas's icy expression, he swallowed his question.

The car drove steadily along the highway. Thea, still feeling dizzy, opened the window to let the breeze clear her head.

Out of the corner of his eye, Nicolas glanced at her. "Do you really have nothing else to say to me?"

Thea turned her head to look at him, opening her mouth slightly. "Yes, why were you there?"

Nicolas eyes narrowed coldly. "You can be there, but I can't?"

That's exactly what I wanted to say to you, so you don't need to ask me anymore." Thea turned her gaze back to the window. Nicolas, feeling stifled, chose to stay silent.

When they got home, Thea immediately tried to head to her room, but Nicolas grabbed her hand.

Instinctively, she resisted, accidentally tripping over Nicolas's foot.

They both lost their balance, falling onto the sofa.

Nicolas reacted quickly, shifting their positions so that he ended up beneath Thea, preventing himself from landing on top of her. Thea heard Nicolas let out a muffled groan beneath her, and her face flushed with panic. "Are you... are you okay?" "Thankfully the sofa's soft. If he'd gotten hurt, that would've been a disaster, she thought, "Thea," Nicolas said, still holding her, his eyes fixed seriously on her. "Can we talk?"
