CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
Manang Tasing and her son Jay greeted us immediately when we got out of the car.
“Oh, you didn’t say you were coming,” Manang Tasing said and Jay grabs Hailey’s suitcase and mine.
“Put Hailey’s stuff in my room.” Hailey looked at me when I said that.
“Yours, sir?”
“In my room too of course.”
“There you put mine in my room, Jay,” Hailey commanded without taking her eyes off me.
“Sir?” Jay calls me.
“Ok, and put my stuff in her room too.” Manang Tasing giggled.
“All right, sir.” And at the same time, he left with his mother.
“I don’t want anyone else in my room.” I smiled at what she said because even though she was angry she is still calm.
“Ok, we only have things in your room but we will sleep in my room.”
“What are you saying?” I just smiled at her and held her.
“I’m hungry so that’s why I don’t what I am talking about.” She didn’t leave so I took her to the kitchen.
I called Dane that I would not come in. Nor did she ask why. While we were eating—-no, while I am eating because she was only one sitting across from me. I didn’t let her go and she didn’t leave either. I smiled eating as I looked at her.
I know it’s awkward because last night I said a lot of hurtful words but here I am looking like a fool smiling at her. I don’t even know what’s going on with me. But I’m only sure of one thing. I just realized this last night and I realized more this morning.
I was stupid because I just now realized that I was wrong anything on her. But I would be more stupid if I let her do what she wants to happen. To file an annulment. Stupid if stupid but I will not allow that annulment. Crazy if crazy but I won’t break up with her.
I’m a fool because I didn’t see her goodness and then I’ll let her go? No way.
“Are you done?” she asked.
“Ah, yes,” I answered as she stood up and approached me and took all the dishes “Hailey, can we talk?”
“Hailey! Mang Tasyo is calling you. The horse is about to give birth.” Hailey ignored me and left.
I followed her and I caught her supporting the horse. I never approached them. The staff surrounds her as she talks to the horse like a human being gets born. She was also talking to the staff but I didn’t pay attention to her. But it was on the staff watching Hailey.
Very different from what I saw then. Previously, I could feel the viscous and lustful way they looked at Hailey. Now I can see their admiration for what Hailey is doing as if she’s the only one who can do that.
In a few moments, the horse gave birth. The workers shouted.
“Hailey’s really good at breeding horses. Quick, horses haven’t had a hard time yet.” Hailey smiled at what the staff said.
“I told you, Philip, study what I am doing, you don’t memorize what I’m saying.” Everyone laughed.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“I’ll take care of them, Hailey,” Tasyo said and Hailey stood up.
“All right,” You can see in the eyes of those with her the look full of admiration and respect for her.
She walked closer to me so I smiled.
“Are you still there?” she asked me.
“Yes, I saw how you gave birth to a horse.” She just nodded and I noticed her dress has blood.
“Hailey, can you help me?” a worker asked her.
“About what?”
“Because the pump stopped in the tank. We fixed it, in case there was a part that wasn’t returned correctly so it wouldn’t work.”
“Oh, you really are, come on.” She ignored me again and went with the worker.
I followed again and saw what she was doing. Even when she taught those there. They nodded as they listened to her. She laughs when she asks a question and no one can answer.
I missed all of this because of my stupidity. I used to think differently of her because of my stupidity. I always say that she wants attention but the truth is that he doesn’t need attention because they see already her because of her talent.
A lot had happened today. Almost every problem and need of opinions they called Hailey. She is the one the workers ask. Within a month of being with her, I am the only one she took care of. I didn’t care back then, but now I didn’t know, I would get angry because I wasn’t her priority.
My eyes searched for Hailey when I couldn’t find her. Earlier, Manang Tasing talked to her so I left them but when I came back they were no longer there. Manang Tasing told me that she was just here. I go upstairs and went to her room. I knock twice and the door open.
“You’re here? I looked for you.”
“Why?”
“Can I come in?” She opened the door wide and let me in.
“What do you need?” I did not answer. I look at the paintings and the sculpture then smile. I used to be stupid when I thought she was leeching grandpa for it. She is the one who made them.
“You really like me huh?” I smiled when I said that.
“Huh?” She frowned and look at me. I’ve only just seen her like that but why instead of being annoyed, she’s cute.
“I said you really like me.” Then I looked at the paintings. “Your works talk a lot.” I saw her face turn red and she averted her gaze.
Damn! why just now I realized how cute she is when she blushed.
‘Oh fuck, Phoenix, you just saw her now because you’re stupid.’
How can I say she likes me? Almost all the paintings and sculptures are phoenixes. She turned her back on me so I pulled her. My pull was a little stronger so she hugged me.
“L-let me go,” she said and bow. Her face was already red.
“What if I don’t want to?”
“What do you need?”
“You,”
“What?”
“I need you, Hailey.”
