Howling Hearts

Chapter 41

I sat the whole night looking at my father, who seemed sad and upset. While everyone was talking about what decorations the pack hall would have and the dress I should wear.

I was trying to study my father. He wasn't cheerful or happy about the ceremony. I had wondered why it all was like that. "Scarlet" I turned my head to Freya who was staring at me waiting for my answer. I realized she had asked me a question but I wasn't listening. "Sorry, my mind was elsewhere. Please can you repeat yourself?" I said in a soft tone. She smiled at my blushing cheek.

"What do you think of the pack? Anyone that stands out that could be of assistance to you?" My eyes grew and I realized I hadn't met a lot of people in the pack.

I have only met a handful and here I am planning on being their Luna when they don't even know my face. I just shook my head, unsure of what to say.

"Mom, it's been very hard with all that has been going on over the last few weeks. She will be going to school tomorrow but I will announce her as the future Luna in front of the pack just before."

I shifted my gaze to Lucian, wondering when he had made this decision on his own. Then I thought about how everything was just getting back on track in our relationship, so I figured I'd let it slide.

Freya nodded her head and took another bite of her food. My eyes fell onto my father's face, which seemed to become even duller within the last few seconds.

When me and Lucian climbed into the limo after dinner and greeted everyone. It had become more evident that the tension was between my father and my mate.

For a while I just looked at Lucian, trying to pry the answer out of him with my eyes. He looked at me and tried to read me with those gorgeous hazel eyes. He then just stared at me, waiting for me to say something.

I shuffled in my seat a little in hopes that this wouldn't turn out to be a fight just as everything got OK again.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

"Lucian... Do you maybe know why my dad was... miserable as dinner." He sighed and laid his head onto the seat and looked up towards the limos ceiling hoping that it would have the words that he needs.

"When I went to go look for you, you were gone and your parents had no idea where you were. Eventually, I lost my patience and used my rank against them. Although it didn't bother your mother, it did bother your father. I believe it has something to do with the pride factor."

"My father isn't a proud man."""No, but he is still a man. I took that away from him at that point in order to just find you. Not that it had been useful." It dawned on me that that was the way they had met each other.

One that was far from good terms. I knew Lucian could only share his half of the story and that I would have to find out the rest from my parents.

I couldn't just believe that something as minor as that was all that had bothered him. When we reached the pack house, Lucian held the door for me.

When we entered the elevator, he started sniffing my neck, enjoying my scent as he purred into my neck. The vibrations ran through my body with their target being my core.

My legs became wobbly at the thought of what tonight might hold. I started melting into his chest, letting out a little moan.

I could feel him grinning on my neck before he started kissing and nibbling. He pulled my leg up to his waist and held onto my thigh, slowly moving his hand higher to cup my a*s.

Our mouths met in a kiss so passionate and lustful it felt like I could o****m just from the sensation alone.

The sound of the elevator doors opening pulled us both from our trance. When we entered, we saw movement in the lounge. Lucian pulled me back behind him before he walked further to investigate.

He stood still in his steps and I could see his whole world fall apart in his eyes. I could only be curious as to who could do that to him.

A figure suddenly ran up to him, hugging him tightly. He just stood there dazed before he started to return the hug. Anger rose in me and I became jealous beyond measure. Her black hair moved to the rhythm, she was wiggling around in her arms, being over-joyed at seeing him touch him.

Too over-joyed about something that's not hers. "Lucy, Lucy it's so good to see you" She kept repeating, annoying me with the stupid nickname she gave him. A growl jumped over the walls. Making her stop in her tracks.

"MINE" I said through gritted teeth. Lucian swallowed a big lump that was stuck in his throat.

"Riley, this is my mate Scarlet"

"We've met". She said, raising her brows and pushing a hip out, taking on a sassy stance. I remember her clearly. She was the girl that had helped me out with a dress for the mate ball. Here I thought we could be friends.

"It's good to meet you again" She said, trying to hug me, but I growled in warning at her. She stood still for a moment before she looked back towards Lucian.

"I don't think she likes me Lucy", she said in a flirty tone. Making me growl again.

"Maybe it's best for you to leave Riley" Lucian tried to convince her, receiving a raised brow from her.

"But why Lucy?" She pouted. He just looked back and forth between the two of us. I became more and angrier as time went by.

I wanted nothing more than to rip her pretty little head off that pretty little body.

"I see no need to leave Lucian", she said. Lucian started shaking his head, trying to warn her not to test my patience. But as brave as she was, she stood her ground, refusing to let down.

"Lucy you can't chase your girlfriend away", Lucian's whole body tensed, anticipating the worst. He pinched the bridge of his nose hoping that it would somehow be a restart button. "YOUR WHAT?" I growled. I was hopping my ears were wrong.

"His girlfriend" She said, turning around with a smug face plastered on her.
