Chapter 72
Chapter 72
Lottie’s POV
I wake up to the sound of the front door creaking open, signaling Alex and Del’s return, Anna stirs beside me, her eyes fluttering open as well this time.
I had woken up again while they were away, lace, who had been keeping watch, filled me in briefly on what was happening.
“They found the truck and the phone,” I inform Anna, unable to hide the relief in my voice. We exchange a glance, the weight of hope and apprehension building.
Alex and Del soon enter
the room – followed by Jace, their expressions a mix of both exhaustion and relief.
Del holds up the phone triumphantly giving it a wiggle, a victorious grin spreading across his face.
The evidence in which we so desperately need is now within our grasp….
“Let’s figure out how to open
en the damn thing! I doubt he will just cave in like Jason and tell us the password…” Alex grits sharp as he takes a seat beside me on the bed.
its out in annoyance,
his voice
“I hate to say it Alex… but we might need Greg… Jace announces, trying to contain his laugh, as Alex closes his eyes to regain his composure.
“I can’t stand the sight of him for another fucking day!” Alex announces loudly, as we all laugh a little at his reaction.
“He will be able to hack into the phone in seconds though…” Del adds another good point, as Alex complains again-
“He’s a fucking crybaby! You should’ve seen him running away from Tommy last night! He’s a fool!” He nags on, as I take his hand in mine in an attempt to calm him down slightly.
“He might be a pain Alex… but he’s our best chance at the minute.” I tell him gently, earning a boyish huff in return.
“Fine call him!” He grumbles after a moment of thought, as Del shakes his head and fishes out his phone with another laugh
Del dials Greg’s number, his finger tips tapping impatiently against the screen as we wait for him to pick up. After a few rings, Greg finally answers, his voice filled with reluctance….
“What do you want, Del?” Greg’s tone is guarded, his frustration evident Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
“We need your help again, Greg. We’ve got Tommy’s phone, but we can’t crack the password. We need your expertise, Del explains, throwing in a compliment too, his voice carrying a hint of urgency.
“I’m sick of you guys calling me up for help and then treating me like shit! I could’ve died last night you know?” Greg retorts, his voice tinged with
bitterness as Alex releases a snort at his words…
elp you?” Greg then questions again, as I nudge Alex in a warning for him to be quiet….
hy should I help
“Why
Del sighs and exchanges a glance with Alex. They both understand the importance of Greg’s skills in hacking into the phone… whether it kills Alex to admit it or not… we do seriously need his help!
“We’re sorry for the way we’ve treated you, Greg. We need you now, and we’re willing to make it up to you. Think about it? Tommy needs locked up! You seen it for yourself last night–he’s out of control!” Del says, his tone earnest. “We’ll even pay you for your services how does that sound?” Del adds in, as Alex rolls his eyes.
There is a moment of silence on the other end of the line, as Greg considers the offer. Money has always been a motivator for anyone… everything comes with a price so they say!
“How much are we talking about here? After last night, I need enough to buy all new equipment now after that little psycho smashed everything up!” Greg asks in complaint, his tone slightly more receptive however annoyed.
You wouldn’t believe this guy was older than Alex, Del and Jace. Despite him being extremely intelligent in the hacker world… he pained me as being Incredibly immature in other areas.
He was like having a little kid around…
Del glances at Alex next, who nods in agre
agreement brielly. They both quickly confer on an amount that would entice Greg to help…..
“We’re prepared to pay you five thousand dollars for your help, Del offers, his voice steady. But you need to come here right away.” He adds quickly.
There is a pause, and then Greg responds, his voice softer this time. Make it ten and we have a deal!” He bargains, as Alex scoffs now.
“Six” Del reasons, as Greg laughs slightly.
“Eight!” Greg demands, as lace covers his face in frustration from the whole ordeal.
“Seven or it’s nothing Greg Del warns next, before more silence comes… giving him a moment to think.
“Right sure! Seven is fine. I’ll be there in twenty minutes, Shuffling is heard in the background, before he cuts us off by hanging up.
Relief washes over me now. We’ve managed to convince Greg to join our cause once again, albeit begrudgingly. His skills will be invaluable in accessing the information on Tommy’s phone….
We need the evidence!
As we wait for Greg to arrive, a sense of anticipation and nervous energy fills the cabin. We gather around the table in the living room, coffees in hand, as we stare down at the intimidating phone before us….
When Greg finally arrives, he enters the cabin with a mix of resentment and curiosity.
His eyes lock with Alex’s, their strained relationship evident. But for the sake of our mission, they set their differences aside as Alex offers him a short nod of acknowledgement.
Greg takes a seat at the table, before he brings out a much smaller device this time from his pocket.
“Designed this myself!” He brags to us all, as we all remain silent and watch.
He plugs the device into the charger port, before seeming to reset the phone. He then uses his own phone to activate the software, and when he turns Tommy’s phone back on–the password seems to be gone!
“I just need to switch up some of the settings to completely remove the password or else it will come back again when I remove this device.” He explains, as we nod and wait…
Minutes pass like hours as Greg’s fingers dance across the phone’s surface. The tension in the room is palpable, the weight of our collective desire for justice heavy on our shoulders.
And then, with a triumphant smile, Greg looks up at us. I’ve got it. I’m in.” He declares confidently, his voice filled with a mix of pride and accomplishment.
A collective sigh of relief escapes our lips as the phone’s secrets are unveiled before us. The evidence we need to expose Tommy’s crimes and ensure justice for myself and Anna is finally within our grasp.
In that moment, as we look at Greg. I feel a twinge of gratitude. Despite his flaws and past conflicts, he has become an unlikely ally in our pursuit of truth and justice.
Alex, Jace, and Del take charge, carefully navigating through the phone, determined to shield Anna and me from the horrifying evidence they might come find as we both wait opposite them.
Their expressions grow more somber with each video and photo they encounter. The gravity of Tommy’s crimes becomes painfully clear, weighing heavily on their hearts and minds.
It’s a burden they will have to carry silently, shielding us from the unimaginable horrors captured within those digital walls… some of which I’m positive to be starring in…
I gulp at the thought, as Alex” fave contorts with fury before he glances up at me every so often as though attempting to offer me silent apologies.

1 watch them from a distance, witnessing the distress and the toll it takes on them. Their jaws tighten, their brows furrow, and their eyes flicker with a mix of anger and sorrow as they look to one another in disbelief.
Despite the darkness that surrounds them, I can’t help but feel a sense of admiration for their strength and resilience…
The three of them, where in my eyes, the definition of brave.
“They will be punished for this! Get Anna’s father on the line!” Alex eventually snaps, standing from his position and storing off outside I’m assuming for air.
I can only imagine what could be on that device.
Things not meant for human eyes..
