Chapter 42 Leading A Man’s Thoughts Astray

A few moments later, Nathael reluctantly stepped forward to lift her, wrapping his arms around her waist.

Maggie squinted her eyes, happily snuggling into his embrace.

Nathael’s heart tightened as he looked down at the woman in his arms, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly. He tightened his grip on her and walked towards Maggie’s apartment.

After enjoying a refreshing breeze and taking a short nap earlier, Maggie felt better and more alert.

Upon opening the door, Maggie got down from his arms, took out two pairs of slippers, kicked off her high heels, and hurried into the bathroom to take a bath.

The strong perfume and alcohol smell from the nightclub were unpleasant.

She wanted to smell nice, like Maggie should!

Nathael stood at the door, his gaze fixed on the brand–new grey men’s slippers, momentarily lost in thought.

She had bought him a pair of slippers.

She remembered.

Nathael’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. He bent down to neatly arrange the high heels she had thrown haphazardly, set them aside, and then changed his shoes to enter the room.

The photo of her and Joseph that had originally been placed on the coffee table was gone, replaced by a solo picture of her from high school. Nathael picked up the picture and looked at it for a long time, his gaze softening.

Not long after, Maggie finished her bath and realized she had forgotten to bring her pajamas. After hesitating, she cracked the door open, peeking out to see where Nathael was.

But as soon as she stepped out, she saw the man sitting on the sofa, engrossed in some documents,

Probably hearing her movement, Nathael turned to look at her, and Maggie directly met his deep gaze.

“Could you… get me some clothes?”

Maggie’s face turned uncontrollably red, and she still felt a bit tipsy.

“In the second compartment on the left of the wardrobe, Maggie added.

It wasn’t until Nathael got up that she stepped back, letting out a soft breath.

A few seconds later, the man’s knuckles gently tapped on the bathroom door. Maggie opened the door slightly, and her slender white arm reached out, searching in the air.

Nathael’s gaze fell on the woman’s fair arm. Then he slowly lowered his eyes, suppressing the desire in his heart.

painted in a light, elegant shade and adorned with delicate patterns.

After searching for a while, Maggie didn’t find anything, so she frowned, retracted her hand, and poked her face out again.

But this time, she directly met his dark pupils, her heartbeat unconsciously skipping a beat, and she

became more nervous.

“Clo… clothes…

Maggie stuttered, inexplicably feeling his gaze burning and intense.

Nathael didn’t move. After a moment of silence, Maggie looked up at him, her ears burning, and couldn’t help but say, “Give them to me.”

He smiled. He could see the mist on her eyelashes. Her wet eyes blinked restlessly, like a frightened deer.

“How will you thank me?” Nathael furrowed his brow, with a hint of playfulness in his expression.

Maggie didn’t expect a serious man to be so childlike and mischievous in this moment. Her almond eyes. widened with a hint of annoyance, and she said, “Can you act like a grown–up, Nathael!”

Nathael chuckled softly. His cold and handsome face seemed to thaw, revealing a relaxed warmth and indulgence, radiating a simple and natural charm.

Maggie was somewhat stunned. She always knew that Nathael was handsome, but she never thought that when he smiled, it would be like sunlight piercing through the clouds and shining on the earth, effortlessly uplifting people’s spirits.

“Thank me,” he said in a deep voice. His beautiful pupils were dark and persistent.

Maggie blinked her slightly round almond eyes, looking at him incredulously, opening her mouth, but not saying anything for a long time.

Maggie blinked her eyes, trying to flatter Nathael, and pleaded, “You give it to me first, and I’ll thank you when I come out.”

Nathael stared at her for a few seconds, concerned that she might catch a cold, and then handed her the clothes.

Maggie breathed a sigh of relief, afraid that he would insist on her thanking him.

Thank you? Hmph!

Maggie hummed softly as she changed her clothes. Despite a slight headache and a burning sensation in her stomach, she felt surprisingly refreshed.

The movie told a clichéd story about a boy who fell in love with a girl and her best friend at the same time.

The three characters were entangled in a torturous love triangle, drifting in a sea of desire.

It wasn’t the type of film Maggie usually enjoyed, but she was engrossed in it for some reason, perhaps. because he was there with her.

Before long, the room was filled with the sound of passionate entanglement as the boy succumbed to temptation and tasted the forbidden fruit with his best friend.

The director had beautifully shot the scene. The room was dimly lit, filled with the heavy breathing of the man and woman. There were no explicit scenes, but the actors‘ performances were so convincing that they easily conveyed the characters‘ intense desires.

The boy and girl were locked in a passionate kiss, their clothes crumpled into a heap.

At that moment, desire overpowered morality and propriety, culminating in a climax accompanied by the woman’s expression of pain and pleasure.

Maggie was so engrossed in the film that she was startled when a document was gently placed on the coffee table.

She blinked in surprise, turning to look at Nathael, almost forgetting that he was there.

As her thoughts refocused, the sounds of the couple’s passionate entanglement on the TV reached a crescendo, causing Maggie’s cheeks to flush with heat.

You seem to enjoy watching these types of movies,” Nathael remarked, his gaze fixed on the woman bundled up like a dumpling, a pensive expression on his face.

Pretending not to understand what he was saying, Maggie blinked innocently and inquired, “What kind?”

Nathael stared at her for a moment before chuckling. He unfastened the top two buttons of his shirt. stepped out onto the balcony, and lit a cigarette.

The sounds of the couple’s passionate embrace reverberated in his mind, stirring a surge of desire. He pondered over what could be causing Maggie’s recent peculiar behavior.

He struggled to suppress his emotions to prevent himself from falling for her.

However, no matter how composed his rationality was, his actions involuntarily yearned for everything about her, instinctively desiring to draw closer.

Just like before, he never anticipated having the opportunity to stand on the balcony of this room, admiring the nocturnal scenery.

And the illumination from within would outline her silhouette.

When he stood up, Maggie lost interest in the movie. She wrapped herself in a thin blanket and joined him on the balcony, gazing at the river view together.

Nathael sighed softly and whispered. “Being alone with a woman and watching such a movie. You know how to lead a man’s thoughts astray.”
