Chapter 336 The Father and Son’s Quarrel

Hailey had been away from Poya for a while.

Owen stayed in Poya all the time and didn’t go back to North City.

He had to keep an eye on Roger, Eliza, and Gary because he was worried that Hailey would be in danger if the problem was not solved.

When Steven learned that Owen was investigating Eliza, Steven thought that Owen had fallen in love with Eliza again and called to scold Owen in a fit of anger.

It took Owen a long time to convince Steven that he did all this not for Eliza but for Hailey.

As soon as Steven heard that it was for the sake of Hailey, Steven’s attitude changed greatly.

“Oh, for the sake of Hailey? Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Then I wouldn’t have yelled for so long,” Steven said. “Well, I don’t want to meddle in your young people’s business. Come on! If you can really get Hailey back, I’ll wish your happiness and give you a reward.”

After hanging up the phone, Owen took a deep breath and didn’t know whether to cry or to laugh..

He didn’t want any reward. All he hoped was not to anger Hailey anymore.

Once Eliza and Gary did anything, Owen would send a message to Hailey right away. But now, he didn’t dare to talk. much with her, afraid that she would be annoyed and that she would misunderstand him and Eliza.

Every time Hailey replied to him, her text would be short, like “noted,” “okay,” and “got it.”

Considering the jet lag, Owen tried his best to contact her when it was daytime or in the evening in Bormintam in case of disturbing her when she was having fun or resting.

Although Hailey’s message was short, she would reply to him soon. However, Owen got no reply from her today. He held the phone and waited for a while.

Jose came in and reported the progress of the antique repair project, bringing some documents that needed Owen’s signature.

Recently, Owen came to Poya so frequently that the managers had developed the habit of handling the work in Poya.

Owen finished the urgent work and looked at his phone. Still, there was no reply from Hailey.

“What is Hailey doing now?” thought Owen.

While she was thinking, his phone rang. Owen picked it up immediately, but it was not a message from Hailey but a call from Alan.

It disappointed the overjoyed man. Owen frowned and calmed himself down for a moment before he answered the call.

Alan said in a gentle voice, “Owen, I’m in Poya. Let’s meet.”

They went to a cafe.

It was late at night, and there was no one in the cafe at this time.

Alan had been worn out after traveling all the way here. It was a little cold at night in Poya. He rubbed his hands and ordered a cup of coffee.

With a faint smile on his face, Alan said, “If my memory serves me right, this kind of coffee is your mother’s favorite.” Owen responded indifferently. “But she doesn’t drink much coffee now, and her taste has changed.”

“Really?” Alan looked up and smiled. Without feeling embarrassed, he continued, “After all, we haven’t lived together for so many years. It’s normal for her to change.”

Soon after, the coffee was ready and served, and the fragrance of it overflowed the cafe.

The waiter said, “Please enjoy it, sir! Have a good time!”

The father and son were silent for a moment. Alan took the initiative to speak, “I heard that Eliza also came to Poya. Now you two….

“We have nothing to do with each other anymore. She came to Poya, not for me. You know it better than me, right?” Owen put on a sarcastic smile and added, “I didn’t expect that my father, who used to be so dignified, would actually become a pimp.”

His words irritated Alan, and he put his hand around his cup.

Still, he didn’t have the heart to splash the coffee on Owen.

“Don’t throw dirt at me!” Alan’s face darkened. “I know you dislike me. But anyway, I’m still your father. Please be respectful!”

Owen felt the urge to laugh when he saw the righteous look on Alan’s face.

But the thought that suck a man was his father made Owen unable to laugh.

“Alan, what do you want from me? Just cut to the chase!” Owen took a sip of coffee.

Alan also took a sip to calm himself down before he continued, “I heard your mother went to Fenneth to recuperate. Is she all right?”

“Thank you for your concern. She has always been fine,” Owen responded. “Didn’t you get Maya out of the cell? Good for you. Congratulations! You can finally be together again.” RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

When it came to Maya, Alan’s face changed again.

He coughed and held the cup, saying, “We broke up.”

“Oh?” Owen raised his eyebrows. “What a surprise! Isn’t she pregnant with your child?”

Alan looked a little awkward. “It’s not what you think. Anyway, I have done my utmost to help her out. After that, we broke up in a peaceful way.”

“All right.” Owen nodded indifferently.

Now, he was sure that Maya was not pregnant, and her submitted pregnancy test report was fake.

“Son,” Alan suddenly called Owen in a gentle voice. “If I want to get together with your mother, will you support me?”

Owen raised his head slowly, his eyes full of disbelief. “What did you say?”

Alan’s face lit up. “I said I wanted to get your mother back, and then we can be together again. What do you think?”

Owen stared at him with a frown. “What kind of incurable disease have you got?”

The smile on Alan’s face faded away. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Then why did you suddenly have such an idea?” Owen looked at him with a sneer. “You want to shoot, but you can’t find the stage or the candidate? Your lover didn’t want to cooperate with you, and that was why you suddenly thought of your ex-wife?”

“Do you have to talk to me in such a sarcastic way?” Alan continued angrily, “I thought you would understand me, but it turns out that you don’t. Don’t you want to get back together with Hailey? If you can, why can’t I get back with my wife?”

“Who do you think you are? You’re in no position to compare with me!” Owen picked up the cup and smashed it on the table, making a cracking sound. “Do you think the things going on between you and my mother are the same as between Hailey and me?”

“Otherwise? What’s the difference?” Alan looked at Owen with his deep eyes and said, “Son, you can’t deny it. We are the same kind of people. You resemble me.”

His words stung Owen, which caused him to stiffen and pale in an instant.

After a long time, Owen gave a cold smile.

“You’re right. I’m your biological son. I’m as cold and heartless as you. Just like you, I was also blinded by love and hurt the one who really loved me for a woman who doesn’t even deserve my affection.”

Owen suddenly looked up at Alan with his dark and sharp eyes.

“But I’m still my mother’s son. She taught me to be a good man. I will take responsibility for what I have done, and I’m not as shameless as you!”

With that, Owen put down the cup, stood up, and left.

Alan shouted behind him, “No matter whether you agree or not, I will get Polly back.”

“Whatever.” Owen sneered without looking back. “Just go do it. If my mother agrees, I’ll take your surname.”

After walking out of the cafe, Owen felt cold all over his body, and his limbs went stiff. He walked alone to his residence with a cigarette in his mouth, weak and slow.

There were few people on the street.

His phone suddenly rang on the silent street. Owen clicked it unconsciously and found it was a message from Hailey.

Two messages! She sent two messages!

The two short messages seemed to pour a warm stream into Owen’s cold heart and let it go through his limbs and bones all over his body, making him come back to life.

He smiled and replied, like a boyfriend chatting with his girlfriend.

He believed he was different from Alan.It rained again at night.
