Chapter 19
The rain came softly, lingering for seven days before it began to fade.
“Mr. Sinclair!“.
Henry pushed open the door, glanced at the person sitting on the hospital bed, and hesitated before speaking. “The information we’ve gathered now is limited. We only know that Mrs. Sinclair and Mr. Lewis entered the country from Aeritha the day before the auction. All leads seem to disappear in Aeritha, almost as if someone’s covering their tracks!”
“Aeritha?” Dominick slightly furrowed his brows.
Henry nodded. “It’s clear Mr. Lewis isn’t a native. His true identity remains a mystery. As for Mrs. Sinclair…
It was clear that Ethan was not a local, as evidenced by his appearance. But for Lola, it was harder to tell. Lola was slightly different than most of the
natives.

Dominick spoke up. If the Diamond of the Glory Hill originally belonged to Lola, as she claimed in that interview, saying she got it as a child from a collector, then finding the previous owner of the diamond could reveal Lola’s true identity.
Henry acknowledged, and suddenly said, as if remembering something
“About the gunshot wound you received, sir, the police have stepped in. Mr. Lewis confessed that an argument with you led to the shooting by accident. While he’s not under arrest, he’s been restricted from leaving the country. The police hadn’t initiated an investigation carlier since you were in a coma,
Henry was still puzzled over how Dominick ended up wounded..
As Dominick heard Ethan confess to the shooting, a frosty look swept over his eyes,
Ethan was clearly taking the fall for Lola. Although Domonick had been shot, considering his current status in Talondria, even Ethan wouldn’t face jail time, but he might be deported. He must have known this, yet he still chose this path. His choice to protect Lola spoke volumes about her place in his
heart.
“Tell the police…”
“Dominick!”
Before Dominick could finish, the hospital room door was pushed open again.
Jessica entered, dressed in a long white gown, her hair cascading over her shoulders. Her once delicate makeup was marred by exhaustion, and her frame seemed fragile. At the sight of Dominick, her eyes brimmed with tears, and she threw herself into his arms.
“I thought I’d never see you again!”
Dominick slightly furrowed his brows, hesitated for a moment, and then raised his hand to gently pat
“I’m fine.”
Why did you go to the Royal Haven? Were you looking for Lola?”
Jessica lifted her glistening eyes, biting her lower lip, a hint of grievance in her gaze.
Dominick remained silent and lowered his eyelids.
Jessica’s shoulder, offering solace.
Dominick thought of Lola’s familiar and distant face. The radiant sparkle that used to illuminate her starry eyes had faded, now devoid of the love that

once shimmered there. Her gaze was calm, utterly devoid of warmth, as icy as the depths of winter. When she pulled the trigger, there was no hesitation in her action. She hated him, so much so that she wouldn’t mind seeing him deadl
“Dominick?” Seeing Dominick lost in thought, Jessica called out to him.
Dominick snapped back to reality, subtly pushing Jessica away. He never answered why he went to Royal Haven.
“Mr. Sinclair!TM
The door opened, and Anna entered with a stack of documents. She cast a briet, uncertain glance at Jessica, who sat beside the hospital bed before presenting a document. “Three days ago, Mrs. Sinclair filed for divorce at the court on the grounds of being separated for two years. Here is the court
summons.”
Dominick took the summons with a stern face, along with it a check.
“The check was mailed to the company three days ago. They said that it is… your medical expenses, Mr. Sinclair Anna spoke.
A cold glint flickered in Jessica’s eyes as she heard that the two had not yet divorced. She was slightly taken aback upon seeing the name on the check.
“Lola!”
The check was issued in Lola’s name, payable to Dominick, for medical expenses.
No one knew Lola’s identity better than Jessica Abandoned at the roadside as a child, she was taken in by George, who had just lost his daughter. To soothe his emotionally unstable wife, Lola was brought into the family. But when the Mitchells‘ real daughter was found two years later, Lola became the child nobody wanted.
“Why is Lola footing the bill for his mistake? Her relationship with this man must be abnormal.”
As Jessica spoke, she keenly observed Dominick’s expression.
Dominick’s eyes narrowed as he heard Jessica’s speculation, his gaze lingering on the judgment document, stamped with a bold red seal.
The news about the Diamond of the Glory Hill belonging to Layla had barely settled when the Horizon Group made an unexpected entrance in Talondria. What truly took everyone by surprise was the announcement that Lola, a recent and prominent figure in the public eye, would be taking the helm as the upcoming president of the Horizon Group.
“Mr. Sinclair!”
Anna burst into the office, pausing briefly to look at the man behind the desk before she began.
“Three days ago, our cosmetic and jewelry divisions faced an aggressive takeover by the Horizon Group. They’ve now cornered the market on our raw materials and halted our production lines. If we don’t act soon, we will lose tens of billions.”
“Is it Lola?” Dominick raised his brows with a frown as he asked.
Anna nodded, hesitating before adding, “Mrs. Sinclair is launching
gan aggressive attack. Not only us, but the Moore Group has also been attacked.”
To anyone with a keen eye, it was obvious Lola was here to settle scores.
But as for the events of two years ago, no one could tell who was actually wrong
d by a sense of duty to the Sinclairs,
Lola was blamed for causing Jessica to fall down the stairs, resulting in a miscarriage at three months. Bound Dominick had forced Lola to end her own pregnancy. A series of mishaps followed, leading to her repeated abductions and a desperate leap off a cliff
“Keep this under wraps. If the people at Sinclair Manor hear anything, the entire PR department will be dismissed.”
This was Dominick’s first order.
Before Anna could react, Dominick issued a second command.

The incident from two years ago had deeply hurt her. Although it had been two years, the memory was still vivid. Every time Dominick thought of it, he Telt a sharp pain in his chest. He raised his hand to his chest, feeling the void, but it seemed there was an empty space that could never be filled again.
“Mr. Sinclair.” Henry entered with a grave expression, his brows furrowed.
“The Sinclair Group’s stocks are under a covert attack. Someone’s arranging a secretive buyout. We haven’t identified them yet, and it might be Mrs. Sinclair.
Rising from his chair, Dominick stood before the towering floor–to–ceiling window, his eyes cast down to the night sky, lost in thoughts…
