Redmption 60
Redmption 60
Peter: “Maddie, are you and Chris really over?”
Quincy: “Maddie, Chris just went a bit cuckoo because of what you did. Don’t get mad at him. We’ll beat some sense into him!“Ernest said, “Maddie, when are you free? I’ll treat you and Chris to dinner.”
Wilson: “I volunteer! I can definitely get you guys back on good terms!”
Daniel: “Quit messing around, you guys. It’s normal for couples to fight. Your guys are just running your mouths!” I was confused about what they heard to make them start tagging me in the group chat.
There were only eight people in the group chat. Apart from the five who were. chatting, there was also Chris, Derick, and I.
Derick was the only one of Chris‘ friends who wasn’t saying anything, but he was also the one I was closest with.
I sent him a private message: “Derick, what are they talking about?”
Among the seven of them, Chris was the third oldest and Derick was the sixth oldest. As a joke, some of them usually called me their sister–in–law, but I wasn’t officially in a relationship with Chris yet when I met Derick.
However, by then he was already so close to Chris that they were practically brothers.
I occasionally referred to him as my own brother sometimes out of proximity, but most of the time I would just call him Derick.
“Chris uploaded an Instagram story. Didn’t you see it?” Derick replied immediately.
I knew he must have seen the messages in the group chat but stayed silent. because he knew about what was happening between Chris and me.
After seeing Derick’s reply, I immediately opened Instagram and saw Chris‘ new story. It was a freshly picked red rose along with the caption, “Red roses are prettier anyway.”
Pretty much anyone who knew me knew that I loved white roses.
Chapero
That kind of story was basically announcing to everyone who knew we were dating that we were over.
Based on what he had said over the phone, it was also a way to tell me that he was going to be official with Jewel.
The people in the group chat were waiting for me to say something, so I liked. Chris‘ story and returned to the group chat.
“Thank you for your concern, friends. Chris and I are no longer together. From today onwards, we are only friends.”
The moment I sent that text, the rest responded with a few shocked and surprised emojis and stickers.
I gave them all a quick once–over before going into settings and quitting the group chat.
I no longer cared about what they would say.
However, I couldn’t sleep the whole night. All I dreamt about was his friends asking me why I wanted to break up with him.
I was up before sunrise. My eyes were a bit swollen, perhaps because I cried yesterday.
I put some ice on my face to help with swelling before putting on some. makeup. I packed up some clothes and necessities since I was going to be staying in a hotel for a few days.
By the time Kara reached the amusement park, I had already been working for some time. She looked at me in shock. “Ms. Crown, did you spend the whole night here?”
“No. I just happened to reach pretty early,” I said as I looked at her. “Have you had breakfast yet?”
“No.” Kara was the kind of person to barely make it to work on time and then sneakily eat her breakfast while working.
“Go have your breakfast first and come back to work after that. By the way, say goodbye to your naps from now on. You’re not going to get a chance to sleep on the job with me,” I reminded her.
Chartered
Kara stuck out her tongue playfully but still nodded anyway. “Okay, no naps, but you have to give me a week off once we’re done. Let me brush up on all the sleep I’m going to lose.”
I would no longer be working there once we were done with the amusement park. Would I still have the right to approve her leave by then?
I still agreed nonetheless. I assumed I would still be able to put in a meager request like that when the time came.
Kara and I had just ordered our lunch from a delivery app when Derick suddenly showed up.
“I’ll treat you to lunch,” he said the moment he saw me.
“No thanks. I need to meet the lighting technician in the afternoon,” I said, turning him down.
Derick looked around at the amusement park. “You really do take this place seriously.”
I smiled. “If you have something to say, go ahead and say it.”
and it meant you never loved him enough in the first place.”
I nodded slightly. “Probably.”
“Do you know what Chris did when he saw that?” Derick asked, looking at me. calmly.
I thought about it for a second before saying, “Did he leave the group?”
He gave me a thumbs–up. “You guys are a perfect match when it comes to that.
“Well, a red rose is the perfect match for him now.” The moment I said that, Kara jogged up to me.
“Ms. Crown, our food is here. Do you want to eat now?”
I looked at Derick. “If that’s all you wanted to say, feel free to play around for a bit. I’m going to have my lunch.”
“Go ahead. I’m going to revisit my childhood,” he said. He sometimes acted like. a child, but he was also the closest to Chris.
That was why we were also close, and he didn’t try to talk me out of my
decisions. All he did was ask me what I thought and told me what I needed to
know.
“You really are unforgiving when it comes to pissing people off, Maddie!” Derick called out from behind me.
I turned around. “What?”
“I can’t believe you liked his story! What a queen!” he said, giving me another thumbs–up.
I smiled mildly. “He posted it for me to see. I have to let him know I saw it.”
While eating, Kara tried to dig for gossip. “Ms. Crown, is that the person Mr. Gildon sent to get you on his side?”
“No. He’s just here for a random chat. Don’t think too much about it. Even if the president himself came, he wouldn’t be able to help Chris‘ case,” I said,
causing Kara to sigh.
“You’re really good at cutting off ties, Ms. Crown. I would have given in,” Kara said.
“Everyone’s different. We all have things we’re good at,” I said as I poked at my meal. I had no appetite and was even beginning to feel a little bit nauseous. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
At that very moment, my phone rang with a call from Mr. Lachy. He said the lighting technician was here.
I asked Mr. Lachy to bring the lighting technician in before forcing some food. down my throat. Even though I wasn’t hungry at all, I knew I would need to energy to run around the amusement park while working later.
However, Mr. Lachy entered with the lighting engineer before I was done with my food. I looked up and froze in shock when I saw who it was.
