97 It Can't Be Lily POV

As soon as the last word leaves her mouth I feel like I'm on fire. "Ariel, please," I say, wanting the burning to stop. "I know Lily. I know it's scary, and it hurts, but we have to shift. The rogue isn't alone." The pain has me falling to my knees. I curl into a ball as what sounds like a bat cracking in half sounds in the air. It takes me a second to realize the sound is coming from

"Ariel, I can't. Please make it stop." "Yes you can. You are so strong. You are the chosen" she says. I'm not sure how much time passes but eventually the pain stops. I open my eyes and everything around me is intense. The colors of the leaves are brighter. The sounds are louder. "Lily, I need you to let me take control." "How," I ask. "I'm going to push forward, just don't stop me." "Alright," I say. When Ariel pushes forward I'm scared. I don't know where I am and it feels dark. "It's alright Lily. You are me. I have a block up so you don't have to see me deal with the

rogues, but if you want to, I'll lift the block. It's up to you Lily."

"No, I want to see. I want to protect Liam and the pack." I feel pride flow through me and I

know it's Ariel's feelings. The darkness lifts, and I watch as we run directly at another wolf that

is lunging for Liam's wolf. I'm not sure how it's possible, but Ariel seems bigger than the dirty brown wolf. When she clamps down on his snout, the wolf whines in pain. I expect her to

release him, but instead she crunches down, breaking his bones in her jaw.

Something slams into our side, but Ariel quickly gets back up. I hear the familiar howl of Gideon and Zora, I smile even though no one can see me. Two more wolves breach the trees. They look smaller than the two wolves that Liam and I were fighting. They both run at me as Liam is still contending with the larger of the rogues. Thankfully, the one with the broken snout is too busy whining to pose a threat.

Before they reach me, Ariel jumps, landing on the dirty blonde-colored rogue. She yelps as Ariel digs her claws into her back. As soon as we land on our paws, teeth pierce our shoulder. I feel the pain as if the wolf is directly biting me. Ariel shakes the smaller wolf off. The wolf lunges again but this time Ariel clamps down on its neck. She pins the wolf to the ground, which is desperately trying to free itself from her hold. The wolf's movements are slowing down as Ariel holds tight to the wolf's throat. A sharp pain erupts on our right side as the other she-wolf swipes her claws through our skin. Ariel has no choice but to release her, but it doesn't matter because a flash of silver has the wolf pinned to the ground instantly. Gideon stalks over to where the dead rogue lays at Liam's feet. My father

shifts quickly, handing Liam shorts.

The wolf we had pinned to the ground stands, but before she can make a move my father growls. "Shift" he says, using his Alpha command. I'm not sure if it works on rogues, but the wolf quickly shifts back as my father's aura fills the air. I smile when his words don't affect Ariel. Not because I wouldn't listen to my dad, but it means we are strong.

The woman is looking at my dad like she hates him. "I don't believe it. I thought after we banished you that you wouldn't survive a week. I guess I should have given you more credit." "We did what we had to do to survive so that we could make you all suffer. Losing that little b**ch of a daughter would be enough to cause you the same pain you have caused us and for what? Your mate knew it wasn't true. You could have let me stay," the woman says. Ariel growls and steps toward her. "It's alright Ariel. No one will ever hurt Lily." The woman looks between my father and my wolf. "Ariel, you can shift. You were both amazing. I'm proud of you both" he says. I smile when my wolf puffs her chest out. "Lily, it's time for you to take control. Think of yourself with arms, legs, and pretty black hair," she says. I do as she asks, and I can feel my body changing. It doesn't hurt like before, but it feels funny.

Dad pulls a t-shirt over my head and bends down to me. I look back and Zora is still pinning the other wolf to the ground. "Don't worry, Lily bear, mom will be fine. Remember she is your guardian" he smiles. "This can't be real. She is just a little girl" the woman says. My father doesn't answer her. Instead, he just smiles at me. "Mom and I are going to interrogate these two before we deal with them. Go with Liam and get cleaned up. We will talk with you after we're done."

I nod and make my way to Liam's side. We walk quietly to the pack house. I notice that Colton. and his friends are all sitting in the kids' play yard. "Why weren't you with Colton," Liam asks. I notice Colton moving toward us and I rush inside. He was too worried about hanging out with his friends. He doesn't need to worry about me now. I make my way upstairs and ignore Colton calling my name.

Once I'm inside my room, I grab a pair of jeans and my purple tie-dye t-shirt. I head into the bathroom and shower quickly. Once I'm dressed, I head out to the kitchen because I'm starving. "Ariel, Liam saw us shift" I say in a panic. "Liam is your protector. He has been since the moment he came to the pack. When the time comes for us to leave the pack, Liam will be with us" she says. "What about mom? She is my guardian wolf. This is all still so weird."

"I know its weird, but you are a very smart and strong girl. I know all this is a lot for you to take in, but we are in this together. Never forget that" she says. "I won't" I say as I eat the left over cold chicken. "Is shifting always going to hurt like that?" "No, the first time is always the worst and you did amazing. I've known grown men who fussed more during their first shift, she says, and I giggle.

A knock on the door brings me out of my conversation with Ariel. I know it's Colton before I even open the door. "Lily, what happened?" "Don't tell him about me" Ariel says. "Nothing, I thought you were hanging out with your friends.""Lily, I saw your mom and dad drag two women who looked like rogues toward the cells. They came from where you and Liam did?"

"Nothing happened, Colton. You can go back to hanging out with your friends"I say pushing past him. I don't know why I'm so hurt by Colton not being there when I needed him, but I am. He had no idea about the rogues, so I know I'm being silly, but I can't stop myself. I make my way toward the stairs, but before I take the first step, Colton grabs my hand.

"Lily, why are you so mad at me? I thought you understood that I was protecting you from my friends being jerks." "I don't understand why you would be friends with people who are jerks.l pull my hand from his and head toward my dad's office. When I get inside, I close the door

behind me. I can't stop the tear that rolls down my cheek. Colton used to be my best friend,

but I have a feeling that has just changed.

Rosalyn POV

As Zora rushes through the trees, the anger at my pup being in danger makes me almost feral.

When we breach the tree line I can't believe what I'm seeing. My pup has shifted and she is magnificent. Her fur is red like fire, and she is bigger than me. Seeing that f**king rogue drag

her claws down my pup's side has Zora increasing her speed. We pin the b**ch to the ground.

Placing our large paw against her throat. Not completely cutting off her air supply, but enough to make sure she doesn't try to move.

Once Beck has that b**ch Brittany shift, I know the wolf I'm subduing is her cousin. I'm as shocked as Beck is that these two survived. Three warriors arrive to deal with the dead rogue and the one that needs to be put down. Once Brittany is secured, we step off the wolf and shift. "Shift," Beck says, and the filthy rogue immediately takes its human form. She looks rougher than Brittany.

"You two must be the stupidest women on the planet. Did you really think four rogues would accomplish whatever you had planned?" "If your pup wasn't a freak and shifted, it would have worked," the wornan in front of me says. I growl and throw a punch, hitting her square in the nose. "Don't you ever talk about my pup you disgusting rogue. Blood pours from her nose and I grab her arm roughly.

We drag them both to the cells. We push them both into the interrogation room. "Aren't your supposed to the Luna? Planning meals and omega schedules," Brittany says. I bend down so I'm in her face. "Did you ever see what mama wolves will do to protect their pups? You are

about to get an up-close and personal view. Why did you come here today after all this time?" 3/4

A look passes between them and I grab Brittany's chin roughly. "Technically, we only need one

of you to tell us the answers to my question. The first one to answer will be shown mercy!""" "Brittany's boyfriend said that there was an old woman in the bar in neutral territory spouting off about a special wolf born of the Blue Crescent Alpha. They said she was named after a flower." 

"You b**ch. Do you think they will let you live," Brittany screams at her cousin. "She just said they would show mercy. I'm sick of being a rogue. Besides, this was your idea. I won't die for

your stupid plans." "What did you plan to do with my pup?" "The woman wanted her, and we wanted to make you suffer," Brittany says.

I smile before I extend the claws on my hand. I draw back and shoot my hand directly into her

chest. I grip her heart in my hand. "No one threatens my pup" I say before yanking her heart out. Her body falls to the floor and her cousin screams. Beckham walks over, grabbing her. "You said you would show mercy" she screams.

"A quick death is mercy" he says before he ends her. "I don't like it Beck. We need to talk to Mindy. No one should be able to detect her presence with the protection spell."I agree, love. We also need to start to train her. She has her wolf she needs to train. Liam, Jayden, you, and I will make sure she is ready for any threat. I promise you we will keep our pup safe," Beck says.
