Chapter 64
Chapter 64 You're Pregnant
With Sophia's words, Carol and Nathan could no longer lie.
"So, you're the one who got Sophia pregnant but couldn't admit it? Since Sophia is your wife's sister, no wonder her sister hasn't come," the doctor said. "But saving lives is the priority. You still want to save the child, right? You should persuade Sophia's sister to come." "No," Nathan refused outright. "Her sister's not well and can't donate blood."
Sophia never expected Emily to donate blood for her. She pleaded with the doctor, "My sister won't come, but her father is in this hospital! You can let him donate blood!"
The doctor nodded. "You should've mentioned it earlier. Is your sister's father a hospital staff member? What's his name? I'll arrange it immediately."
"No, he's not. He's staying in a room upstairs. He can't move right now. You can just go up and draw blood!"
"What?"
Several doctors couldn't believe their ears.
What kind of family was she?
Upstairs rooms usually housed patients with coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. If this patient couldn't move, how severe was his condition? And Sophia wanted them to go up and draw blood directly? Was this something a family member should say? The doctor questioned, "Is he really your sister's father?"
"Yes. Doctor, please don't waste time. Go up and draw blood. I'm still young and can live many more years, but he's in his fifties. It's more cost-effective to save my life!"
"All lives are equal. There's no question of cost-effectiveness. If saving you harms another person's right to life, what do you think?"
The doctor was shocked and helpless at Sophia's words. He looked at her with a hint of disgust.
But they still had to save her. They couldn't watch a life slip away because of her bad character.
"Quick, call someone to donate blood! We're also contacting other hospitals to urgently get some A-positive blood, but it may take some time. It might not arrive in time. It's fastest for Sophia's family to come!"
Carol felt embarrassed by the surrounding whispers and nudges. She quietly said to Nathan, "Nathan, does Sophia have any other family? Emily doesn't want to come. Her uncle seems to care about Sophia. Maybe he'd be willing to donate blood?"
Nathan sighed. "Mom, you forgot, you just told me to call the police to arrest him. He's probably already been taken away by the police."
"Tsk, you should have waited until after he donated blood before calling the police."
As they hesitated, Emily briskly entered.
Nathan hurriedly approached her. "Emily, why are you here?"
Ignoring him as if she hadn't seen him, Emily walked straight ahead and asked a nearby nurse, "Where's the blood donation room?"
The nurse pointed in a direction. "Over there, at the end of the hallway."
"Okay, thanks."
As Emily took a couple of steps, Nathan grabbed her arm. "Are you going to donate blood for Sophia? Emily, don't do it. Your health isn't good, and it's not worth it to donate for her."
Emily sneered. "Nathan, Sophia is carrying your child. When you made her your lover, did you ever think about whether she was worth it?"
"I've explained it to you, haven't I? Sophia seduced me. I was momentarily confused..."
"You got her pregnant after just one moment of confusion?" Emily clearly didn't believe him. After questioning him, she sarcastically remarked, "The odds were even better than winning the lottery."
Nathan frowned and stopped her. "Then let me be frank. I don't care which man you've been with lately. If you don't want her to have my child, then there will be no barrier between us if she miscarries. We can try to have a child. If you donate blood, your weakened body won't be conducive to pregnancy..."
Emily shook her head. "You're really straightforward."
"You can call me heartless or accuse me of betrayal, but I want to be with you. You hate Sophia too, don't you? Why not take this chance to get back at her? It would also relieve your anger."
"You're incorrigible," Emily pushed
him away. "I'm not donating blood
for her, but for my uncle. If something happens to Sophia, hell suffer too. I hate her, but I won't
stoop so low as to take advantage
of her misfortune!"
"Emily, listen to me..."
"I don't want to listen. I'm going to donate blood. If Sophia survives, you explain to her what you just said"
The blood donation room was nearby. She entered and underwent a brief examination before the needle pierced her vein.
Blood flowed continuously through the transparent tube from her body, but Emily turned her head away, refusing to look. "Wait-" a young nurse hurried over. "Stop, she can't donate blood!"
The doctor drawing blood asked, "Why not? Her blood test was fine, wasn't it?"
The nurse held up a report and pointed to a specific data. "Look at the test results. She's pregnant!"
What?!
Emily stood frozen in place. Pregnant?
"Oh my God, you really are pregnant! Stop the bleeding! How could you come to donate blood when you're pregnant?"
Emily looked bewildered. "Is this my report? Am I really pregnant?"
The nurse said, "You're the only one in the blood donation room. If it's not yours, then whose is it? You're quite confused, aren't you? How can you not know you're pregnant?" Emily looked at the data on the report, still somewhat disbelieving.
Didn't she take birth control pills?
How could she be pregnant?Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
"Um... can you tell me how far I've been pregnant?"
"You'll have to go to the obstetrics and gynecology department for further examination to know for sure. Go see a doctor right away."
Emily walked out of the blood donation room in a daze, still struggling to process everything.
"Emily!" Mr. Satan hugged her. "Is it true? Are you really pregnant?"
