Chapter 1590
Chapter 1590
Anne got up in fear as she thought of something.
She was still wrapped in a towel, looking pure and beautiful like a doll.
She did not notice that Anthony's gaze got even darker.
"If Corentin were the one who killed them, then wouldn't Ashlynn be in grave danger? Even if Corentin won't kill her, it's too scary to be sharing the same bed with such a man!" Anne could not even imagine it.
Anthony wrapped his arms around her body and trapped her in his arms again.
Anne was like a caterpillar that could not move. It was as if she had been tied up.
"Anthony, are you listening to me?"
"I am.’ Anthony kissed her fair, soft cheek as if he could multitask." Ashlynn's life won't be in danger. Don't worry. Our goal is to find out where Tommy is hiding. They need to take care of the rest themselves."
Anne knew that, but she was still filled with worries deep down.
She suddenly thought that Corentin was way scarier than Anthony.
They were his wife's father and mother! They were his children's grandparents!
Why did he have to go to such an extent?
"What's the reason for him to kill them?" Anne could not wrap her head around it.
Anthony was impressed because Anne had found the problem. ’It's because Beth and Marshall found out what Corentin had done."
"I can't think of a reason for it. What kind of heinous things would he have done that he needed to go so far as to silence them by killing them?" Anne could not think of anything. She could only look at Anthony and hope that she would be able to get an answer from him.
"If I had guessed it right, it would be something to do with the virus." Anthony's gaze was deep and sharp as he analyzed, "It's one thing that the people I've sent can't find anything, but something must be up when
Corentin couldn't find anything either. Therefore, I'm guessing that Corentin must have pulled some tricks behind my back."
The more Anne heard, the more she felt it made sense. The Lloyd family was quite powerful in Athetin. How could they have not found any clues at all?
When the problem was found out in the end, Corentin directly admitted that he was being threatened by Tommy.
Was that truly what happened, or was he just stalling?
Anne made a guess, "But we don't have any evidence, no matter what. Are we supposed to let Corentin lead us by the nose then? Beth and Marshall have already passed away. The person I'm worried about now is Jeremy. Corentin did not take Beth and Marshall's life seriously, so why would he care about Jeremy? If Jeremy found out about Corentin's secret one day, would Corentin silence him by killing him as well?"
"I've already had my men keep an eye on him in advance. I will be notified as soon as there are any movements there."NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
"You have to ask them to keep a close eye then," Anne urged.
Ashlynn had lost her parents. She would definitely go crazy if she lost her brother as well!
"Alright." Anthony caressed her back gently. "Be a good girl. Relax.
Everything will be fine when you wake up."
Anne had been talking for quite a while, and she had been worrying about Ashlynn as well, so she felt sleepy after a while as she was comforted by Anthony's deep and husky voice.
She then slept soundly in his broad and solid arms.
Anthony, on the other hand, suffered.
The top half of his body was hugging Anne tightly, but he kept the bottom half of his body away from her. Otherwise, Anne would not be able to sleep soundly as well.
Even so, he could not reduce the heat.
Therefore, when Anne opened her eyes the following day after having a good night's sleep, she noticed the dark circles under Anthony's eyes. "Did you not sleep well?"
"I slept quite well."
Anne found it suspicious. 'Why do I feel that's not the case?'
Anthony wanted to tell her very badly that he had never acted so gentlemanly in his life when it came to her!
He did not sleep for the whole night at all!
However, seeing that Anne slept quite well last night, he wanted to have one round with her in bed in the morning. Just as he was about to pin her down, a bang on the door could be heard!
