LOVE
Layla stood in front of a mirror as she pulled off the earrings, rings and necklace she was putting on.
It was almost morning and the coronation was over as everyone retired to their various guestrooms.
She was in the room as she had requested to be left alone when the maids wanted to help her undress. Nolan was not in the room instead.
She sighed deeply as she let her hair fall down loosely. Carla’s words, still ringing in her head.
She somehow felt so jealous that Nolan was going to choose a mistress someday.
Carla had stated that he was entitled to do so and Layla had read from books and watched movies where a king had over twenty mistresses.
She couldn’t help but cringe at the thought of Nolan being with another woman.
Layla knew that jealousy was an ugly emotion, but she couldn’t help but feel it as she thought about the possibility of Nolan being with someone else. She didn’t want to share him with anyone, and the thought of him loving someone else made her feel sick to her stomach.
She knew that it was unreasonable to expect him to be faithful to her, especially when he never confessed his feelings but she couldn’t help the way she felt. She was just so in love with him, and the thought of him with another woman was unbearable.
She exhaled as she began to lose the ropes in her dress , so she could pull it off. She had this sullen look on her face as she slowly loosened the ropes.
She was halfway done, when Nolan walked in.
Nolan froze in his tracks as he saw Layla standing there, half-dressed. He felt his heart skip a beat as he took in the sight of her, and he couldn’t help but think about how beautiful she was.
“Layla,” he said, his voice coming out a little hoarse as he approached her.
“Why didn’t you call the maids to help with this?” He scolded her as he took up the responsibility to loosen the ropes instead. Layla just let him do it as she wasn’t in the right mood.
“I was handling it just fine..” she replied in a somewhat rude tone as she quickly clasped her mouth shut.
Maybe she was taking it too far.
Nolan’s expression turned serious as he heard the sharpness in her voice. He knew that she was upset about something, but he wasn’t sure what it was. He tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but her tone had stung him a little.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude,” Layla apologized softly, her eyes downcast. “It’s just been a long day, and I’m not feeling myself right now.”
“That’s okay,” Nolan said, trying to keep his voice calm and reassuring.
“I’m sure my gift would brighten up your mood..” he smiled standing at her back, his height towering over her as he stared at their reflection in the mirror. This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
“You look so pretty..” he whispered to her ears, planting a light kiss there as he wrapped his hands around her waist from behind.
“What gift do you have for me?” Layla asked maybe that could brighten up her mood and make her forget the fact that he was going to select a mistress someday.
“Alright close your eyes..” he smiled as he turned Layla around now that she was facing him.
Layla’s curiosity was piqued as she closed her eyes, wondering what kind of gift he had for her. She heard him rummaging around in the room, and she tried to imagine what it could be. Was it a piece of jewelry? Or maybe a new gown?
“Alright, you can open your eyes now,” Nolan said, his voice full of excitement.
Layla opened her eyes and gasped as she saw Nolan holding a beautiful ring box.
“A Ring?” Her brows furrowed in confusion.
“It’s not just any ring,” Nolan began, his voice filled with emotion. “It’s an engagement ring.”
Layla’s eyes widened as she realized what this meant.
“You mean…?” she asked, her voice trailing off.
“Layla..” Nolan called as he held her hand softly.
“I realized something during these few weeks I’ve spent with you” Nolan said as their eyes locked.
Layla was someone very special, she had a very big heart.
She still chose to stay after all the terrible things he did to her. That was a very selfless and brave act.
“I want to make things right between us..” he smiled as he caressed her face softly.
“I want to be a good mate to you and a nice and doting Father to our child”
Layla felt her heart swell with love and gratitude. “You already are,” she uttered. She had seen how much he had changed, he had now turned to a completely different Nolan.
“I realized my love for you, Layla. Not as my mate but for who you are..” he said in a soft tone and Layla felt her cheeks heat up.
It sounded like a dream to her ears, she couldn’t believe that Nolan just said those words.
“I…. I…” she stammered, not knowing what to say to him. It all felt like a dream.
“I really love you Layla…” he uttered. He was so blinded by his anger that he refused to accept whatever affection he felt towards her.
“I was interested in you even from the first day we met at the bar..” he confessed as Layla stilled.
Nolan actually found the drunk girl very intriguing that night but his countenance changed when he found out she was his mate. He never wanted one.
“Let’s make things right..” he stated and Layla shook her head slowly.
She loved Nolan too. A lot. Despite everything that happened, the feelings were always there in her heart.
“I want you to be my wife, my mate, the mother of my children. You’re my everything Layla..”
“So please, I want to officially ask you to be mine?” He said, showing her the ring. He wanted to claim Layla in every way and he began by proposing.
“I will..” Layla agreed as she smiled widely. This was the best night of her life.
Knowing that she was loved back by her mate after such a long time.
The sincerity in Nolan’s eyes said it all. He was not bluffing.
Without wasting any more time, Nolan slid the diamond ring into her finger.
“It’s beautiful.” Layla admired the diamond ring that seemed to sparkle.
“Thanks for everything Layla…” Nolan appreciated as he caressed her face.
He had fallen in love with everything about her, her smile, her beauty, her transparency.
Layla was one of a kind, she had gone through too much and deserved the best she could ever get.
She was to be treated like the queen she was. His queen.
“I love you too Nolan..” Layla finally confessed her feelings as there was no need in hiding it. She had always yearned to let Nolan know her feelings for him.
Nolan grinned softly as he slowly leaned over to kiss her.
