Chapter 59
Rowan’s POV
I stood at a distance, watching Nolan as he moved through the courtyard, his shoulders hunched. and his face drawn tight with an expression that bordered on anguish.
He was my brother, almost my twin, but the bond we once shared had frayed over time, unravelling after that fateful accident. It had changed him, driven a wedge between us that I couldn’t quite understand or bridge.
Nolan had always been strong, confident, and unyielding. He carried himself with authority and pride befitting his status. But now, as I observed him, there was a vulnerability in his posture, a haunted look in his eyes that spoke of deeper struggles.
Since Nesta’s return, his turmoil had only intensified. She was a source of constant conflict and confusion for him, a living embodiment of all the complications and emotions he had been trying
to suppress
Her presence seemed to amplify his distress, and it was clear he didn’t know how to handle it.
I remembered how close we had been as children, inseparable and in sync. We had shared everything, our dreams, our fears, and our secrets. But the accident had shattered that connection.
Nolan became distant, retreating into himself and building walls I couldn’t penetrate. He had changed, becoming colder, more withdrawn, and I was left on the outside, trying to understand a pain he refused to share.
I wished I could help him, could ease the burden he carried, but he never let anyone in. He bore his suffering alone, pushing away those who cared for him. And now, with Nesta back in the picture, his inner turmoil was more evident than ever.
I watched him, my heart ached for the brother I had lost. I wanted to reach out to him, to offer my support, but I knew he would only push me away.
Nolan had always been stubborn, fiercely independent, and he would rather suffer in silence than admit he needed help.
Nesta was at the centre of his current struggle. She was his mate, yet their relationship was fraught with complications and misunderstandings.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Her presence stirred emotions in him that he couldn’t reconcile, adding to the chaos that already plagued his mind.
I could see the tension in his movements, the way he clenched his fists and ground his teeth. He was on edge, a storm of emotions swirling just beneath the surface. I wished I could ease his pain, but I didn’t know how. The distance between us felt insurmountable.

“Hey, Nolan,” I called softly, taking a tentative step forward.
He glanced up, his eyes harrowing as he spotted mg For a moment, there was a flicker of something in his gaze–recognition, perhaps, or a deeting memory of our closeness–but it vanished quickly, replaced by his usual guarded expression.
“What do you want?” he asked, his voice rough and weary.
Thesitated, searching for the right words. “I just… I wanted to see how you were holding up. With everything that’s been going on
He scotted, turning away. “I’m line, Don’t worry about me”
But I did worry, I worried about him more than he realised. “Nolan, you don’t have to go through this alone. We’re family. We can help each other”
He shook his head, a bitter smile tugging at his lips Family, huh? You wouldn’t understand.”
“Then help me understand.” I implored, taking another step closer. “Talk to me. Let me in.”
For a moment, I thought he might. His eyes softened, and he looked at me with an intensity that made my breath catch. But then, just as quickly, he shut down, closing himself off.
“There’s nothing to talk about,” he said, his tone final. “Just leave it, okay?”
1 sighed, knowing I wouldn’t get through to him today, “Alright. But remember, I’m here. Whenever you’re ready.”
He didn’t respond, turning his back on me and walking away, leaving me standing there, feeling helpless and frustrated. Nolan was my brother, and I loved him dearly, but he was a mystery I couldn’t solve.
And as long as he kept pushing everyone away, he would continue to struggle alone, tormented by his own demons.
Watching him disappear into the palace, I vowed to keep trying. One day, he would let me in. One day, he would understand that he didn’t have to face his battles alone.
But until then, I would be here, ready to support him in any way I could, hoping that he would finally let down his guard and let me help.
I stood there, watching Nolan disappear into the palace, a heavy sense of helplessness weighed on me. My thoughts were a whirlwind, a chaotic mix of duty and familial love, of responsibility and deep–seated frustration.
As the Alpha King, my foremost duty was to my people, to ensure their safety and prosperity. But as an older brother, my heart ached for the sibling once knew, the one who had become a stranger
over time.
Nolan had always been headstrong, fiercely independent, and unyielding. Traits that, in many ways, mirrored my own. Yet, the accident had changed him irrevocably, creating a chasm between us that seemed impossible to bridge.
I could see the torment in his eyes, the way he carried the weight of his own demons, but he refused to let anyone in, least of all m
Nesta’s presence only compounded the issue. She was a catalyst for his inner turmoil, a constant reminder of everything he struggled with. Her very existence seemed to unravel him further, pushing him deeper into his spiral of self–destruction.
And yet, we needed her. Our mother believed that her return could stem the rogue attacks, and could bring a semblance of peace to our troubled lands. But at what cost?
I couldn’t ignore the harsh reality that our kingdom’s stability might hinge on Nesta’s presence. She was a healer, a descendant of the Faes, and potentially our only hope against the encroaching
chaos.
But I couldn’t bear to see Nolan suffer any longer. He was my brother, my blood, and I would do anything to save him from himself, even if it meant confronting the harshest truths.
Pacing the length of my chamber, I wrestled with my thoughts. I wanted my old brother back, the one who laughed freely, who shared in our dreams and ambitions.
But Nolan seemed lost to me, buried beneath layers of pain and bitterness. Nesta, whether she realised it or not, was a key player in this drama, and her impact on him was undeniable.
“How can I save him?” I muttered to myself, my voice barely above a whisper. “How can I bring him back?”
The answer eluded me, slipping through my fingers like sand. My role as Alpha King demanded I put my people first, to make decisions that would ensure their safety and future.
But my heart was torn, wanting desperately to rescue my brother from his downward spiral. The weight of my responsibilities pressed down on me, and I knew I couldn’t afford to fail, not in this.
I needed a plan, a way to balance the needs of my kingdom with the desperate desire to save Nolan. But every path seemed fraught with complications. Nesta was integral to our survival, yet her presence was destroying my brother. It was a cruel twist of fate, and one I wasn’t sure how to navigate.
I continued to pace, a grim determination settled over me. I would find a way to help Nolan, to bring him back from the brink. I would not let him be consumed by his demons, even if it meant making difficult choices.
The kingdom needed both him and Nesta, and I would find a way to ensure we had both.
My resolve hardened, I knew what I had to do. I would confront my mother, demand answers. about Nesta’s true nature and our need for her.
1 would delve into the mysteries of her abilities, seek out the truth behind her connection to our Tamily’s fate. And I would find a way to bridge the gap between Nolan and myself, to reach the
brother 1 had lost
It wouldn’t be easy. The road ahead was fraught with challenges, but I was the Alpha King. I was accustomed to bearing burdens and facing the impossible. For my people, for my brother, and for the future of our kingdom, I would do whatever it took.
But why did I feel like something had awakened within me when I went to speak to Nesta!
