Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Ashtour’s POV
As the room fell into a tense silence, all eyes turned in Sawyer as he stepped forward to stand beside me. I could feel the weight of their gazes, their uncertainty palpable in the air. It was a pivotal moment, one that would determine the fate of Jacob’s pack and its future under new leadership.
Their trust had been broken by Jacob, an Alpha who everyone once loved, and therefore their apprehension was understandable!
“Sawyer Kingston,” 1 announced, my voice steady and authoritative, “is a man of integrity, strength, and compassion. He has proven himself time and time again as a loyal member of my own pack, and I have full confidence in his ability to lead you forward into a brighter future.” I conclude, as Sawyer stands tall beside me and doesn’t crack under the pressure.
As I spoke, I watched Sawyer closely, noting the determination in his eyes and the confidence in his stance. He was ready for this challenge, ready to step up and guide our pack through the turbulent times ahead.
“Sawyer has a vision for this pack, I continued, turning to address the gathered crowd once more. A vision of unity, strength, and prosperity. Under his leadership, we will rebuild Jacob’s pack into a community that you can all be proud of.”
There was a murmur of uncertainty among the pack members, their expressions a mixture of curiosity and apprehension as my attempts fell flat. They had placed their trust in Jacob for years, and the idea of a new Alpha was undoubtedly unsettling for many of them…
But with that, something ignited within Sawyer as he stepped forward himself and began to speak to the group, his words filled with sincerity and determination – and I could see a clear shift in their demeanor.
“I am honored to accept the role of the Alpha, but only if you will take me?” Sawyer began, his voice strong and unwavering.
“I promise to lead by putting each and every member in this pack first – especially before myself, I want to turn this ridiculous fucking castle mansion in to a sanctuary for all of the missing children who suffered thanks to the hands of arch. It only seems fitting that we give back to them at least until each of them can find their forever homes elsewhere. If you would give me the chance, I would fucking love to prove myself to every last one of you not only through my words, but through my actions as the new Alpha to this puck! Sawyer speaks in a new tone that I hadn’t heard him use before, commanding the room in true Alpha fashion.
As Sawyer spoke, I could feel the tension in the room casing, replaced by a sense of hope and possibility. It was a promising start to our journey forward, a sign that change was possible and that a better future lay ahead for Jacob’s pack to bring redemption
At first, I thought I was hearing things when a soft clap began to sound out, before it grew louder and louder as each pack member joined in beginning to rise from their chairs before the roomy transformed in to a space of praise and excitement.
Sawyers eyes widened, as did mine, as Jacob’s pack accepted Sawyer in as their new appointed Alpha- smiling and cheering him on after his speech which seemed to have successfully done the trick.
As the meeting drew to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in what we had accomplished. Despite the challenges that lay ahead, I was confident that with Sawyer at the helm and the support of the pack members, we could overcome anything.
“Now I kindly ask that if any of you had any important roles in the pack before, please stay and list your experience with us. We will also be looking for
caring individuals here to help with the children so if you think you would be a good fit come talk to us!” Sawyer takes charge, as the whole
mood in the room shifts to be more calm and collected.
Now everyone had a sense of hope for the future, and everyone seemed settled enough to welcome this stranger in as their new Alpha–trusting him solely based on his word and presence,
With a final nod of encouragement, I watched as the pack members began to disperse, many of them staying to talk with us at the end their expressions more hopeful than they had been just moments before, Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Tonight was just the beginning of our journey, but already, I could see the seeds of change taking root.
As Sawyer and I decided to pull Jacob’s former Beta aside for an interview, the tension in the air was palpable. The Beta, once a trusted confidant of Jacob, now stood before us, his expression a mix of apprehension and determination to prove himself.
“Thank you for joining us,” Sawyer began, his voice calm yet authoritative as I let him take charge. “We understand that these are uncertain times, and we appreciate your willingness to discuss your role within the pack moving forward.”
The Beta nodded, his eyes flickering between Sawyer and me, perlups trying to gauge our intentions.
“We want to hear more from you directly. Can you tell us about your duties as the Beta and how you envision your role under Sawyer’s new leadership?” I hum, motioning for him to talk as he straightened himself up.
The dude was young, but evidently strong enough to act as a Beta. Perhaps Jacob picked him knowing that he could manipulate him with his age over everything else…
The Beta took a moment to collect his thoughts before responding. “As the Beta, I was responsible for assisting Jacob in various pack matters, including enforcement of pack laws, organizing patrols, and ensuring the safety and well–being of our members,” he explained, his voice steady but tinged with uncertainty.
“Some of the laws were rather odd to say the least, but who was I to question him? I didn’t want to be stripped of my title, you know?” He trails off, sparking our interests with that one comment.
“What were they? The ones you say were strange?” Sawyer pushes him, as he shrugs slightly.
“Just small things like the men had to train at four every morning until nine or face severe punishments if they didn’t turn up… the men would go about the rest of their day exhausted… still having to do patrols and protect the pack from rogues. I remember thinking at the time that if we were under attack, we wouldn’t have any chance of defending ourselves due to being exhausted alone!” He rambles, evidently feeling the freedom to express his disagreements with how Jacob done things.
That was a good sign for us..
“He’s a fool!” 1 comment, as the Beta nods and breathes to continue.
“The woman were in charge of the food and cleanliness of the pack, pretty stereotypical roles. Jacob would often punish the whole pack if he didn’t agree with something someone done. He would stop the food supply for days sometimes!” He adds, as I wipe a hand roughly over my face.
This pack was even more of a train wreck than what I had ever expected..
“I wasn’t in the role too long, but he would go away to visit other packs for weeks at a time and when I was in charge, I tried to bend the rules a little to take some pressure off from the members.” He admits, as we nod and admire his efforts.
“He was probably visiting Seraphina and Tarrick no doubt 1 spit, as Sawyer agrees with my thought process.
“But anyway, with all of that dark stuff aside, given the chance to work under Sawyer’s leadership, I am prepared to continue serving in a far better and more passionate way, prioritizing the needs of the pack above all else.” He concludes, selling us both on his word.
I listened intently, observing the Beta’s demeanor for any signs of hesitation or deception. It was crucial that we had complete trust in our pack’s leadership moving forward.
Sawyer nodded thoughtfully, his gaze fixed on the Beta. “We appreciate your commitment to your pack,” he said. “However, we must ensure that all members of our leadership are aligned with our vision for the future and are dedicated to upholding our values of integrity, loyalty, and compassion.” He states firmly.
With that, I leaned forward, my expression serious yet empathetic. “Can you assure us, without a doubt, that you will remain loyal to Sawyer as the new Alpha and that you will do as asked.” I finish.
The Beta met Sawyer’s gaze, his jaw set with determination. “I pledge my loyalty to Sawyer and to the betterment of our pack,” he declared firmly. “T understand the need for change, and I am committed to supporting our new Alpha in whatever capacity he deems necessary.”
1 observed the Beta’s response carefully, weighing his words against the backdrop of our tumultuous situation. Despite his past allegiance to Jacob, his words seemed sincere, and his willingness to adapt to the changing dynamics within the pack was evident.
“Thank you for your honesty,” Sawyer said, his tone respectful yet firm. “We would like to give you the opportunity to prove yourself. It will also help us to settle some new rules around here since I can imagine that you are already a well respected member in this pack?” Sawyer states, as he nods warmly.
With that, we concluded the interview, allowing the Beta to return to the gathering with a renewed sense of purpose and drive. As he rejoined the pack, I exchanged a nod with Sawyer, silently acknowledging the weight of the decision ahead of us.
He done good
