At 8:15 in the evening, they had agreed to meet at 8 o’clock in Sunset Bar, but Charlie and Imogen intentionally arrived a bit late.
According to Charlie, what if the other person got impatient from waiting and decided to leave because she didn’t show up?
The bar was filled with noisy chatter and colorful lights.
They found a booth inside and ordered two drinks.
Charlie took out her phone and sent a message on Facebook: [I’m here, where are you?]
The reply came quickly: [I haven’t arrived yet. Please wait a bit longer.]
[Alright.] As Charlie responded, she complained to Imogen, “Danin, he’s even tardier than me!” In a booth not far away, a tall figure sat leisurely, sipping his drink with an air of boredom, occasionally glancing towards the entrance as if waiting for someone.
He was strikingly handsome with gold–rimmed glasses, exuding refined elegance. His refreshing demeanor made one feel like they were bathed in a spring breeze, irresistibly drawing them
closer.
He was sitting there for just a short while. Quite a few people, both men and women, came over to discuss with him, but he rejected all of them.
As he spotted a familiar figure entering and taking a seat, his eyes widened with sparkle. Casually finishing his red wine and setting down the glass, he was about to get up when someone called out to him.
“Chad?” Ivette approached with a smile, “I didn’t expect to bump into you in New York City. What a coincidence!”
Chad nodded. “It is quite the coincidence.”
Ivette introduced the man behind her, “Murphy, this is a friend of my cousin’s, Chad. And Chad, this is Murphy, an old friend of my cousin’s.”
Murphy, noticing a subtle hint of flattery in Ivette’s warm behavior towards Chad, sized him up momentarily and extended his hand. “Nice to meet you.”
Chad glanced at him and also extended his hand. “You too.”
As soon as he spoke, he withdrew his hand and remarked casually, “I’ve got some things to take care of, so I won’t be able to entertain you both.”
Ivette laughed, “It’s okay, Chad, go on with your things.”
Chad stood up and left.
Ivette and Murphy sat down at the table.
Murphy turned to glance at Chad, displeased with his indifferent attitude, and asked, “Who is -he?”
Ivette replied, “AH I know is he’s a friend my cousin met abroad. I think he’s of mixed descent. I only met him last year when he returned to the country and visited the Harrington Villa with my
cousin.”
Chad was not lacking in looks. Ivette had a crush on him when they first met.
She later inquired about him with her cousin and learned that Chad had left a venture capital firm abroad and planned to establish himself back home. Between the lines, it meant Chad didn’t come

from wealth and had built everything himself, which made Ivette drop the idea of pursuing anything.
Murphy sneered, watching Chad as he confidently took a seat at a table with two attractive
Women.
Murphy looked away, curiously asking, “Do mixed–race guys have a better chance with the ladies?”
After waiting for a few seconds without a response from Ivette, Murphy looked up to find Ivette intently staring in Chad’s direction, more precisely, at the two beautiful women sitting opposite
Chad.
Upon closer inspection, Murphy realized one of those beautiful women facing Chad was none other than Imogen!
Just as Charlie put down her phone, a familiar figure approached her.
She knew this figure all too well. She didn’t need to look to recognize who it was.
Charlie averted her gaze, muttering to Imogen, “Here comes trouble.”
Imogen paused for a moment, still processing. But before she knew it, Chad was already seated across from them.
He grinned, flashing his bright white teeth. “Charlie, Ms. Forbes, what a pleasant surprise.”
