Chapter 477
Chapter 477
Mia nodded, but she still couldn’t help but remind her husband. “I fear you might forget. Besides, this is
the best time to catch Tom. If we miss this chance and he goes into hiding again, it will be even trickier
to catch him. Our threat will linger.”
Andre said, “Don’t worry. I’ll keep you all safe.”
“Once the baby is born, I’ll protect both of you too,” Mia said, staring into her husband’s eyes, assuring
him she could protect him as well.
After her biopsy, Coleen had to wait for the results. During this period, she was stuck at the hospital
almost the whole time due to her daughter’s nagging, even attending meetings via video call. Several
times, Coleen found it inconvenient and wanted to drive to the office herself.
“What if you faint again? What if your condition worsens? You’re almost fifty. Why can’t you sit still?”
Molly had no qualms about speaking her mind to her mother.
Coleen was constantly nagged by her daughter, only finding peace when Molly went to the university.
Leo asked Molly, “Molly, Mia is getting admitted to the hospital next week. Would you like to come
along?”
Molly asked, “Which hospital?”
“The City Hospital.”
Molly replied, “Oh, I’ll wait for you guys at the entrance. I won’t go in with you.” Her mother was also
admitted to the City Hospital.
Finally, Leo realized something wasn’t quite right. “Molly, what have you been up to recently?”
She didn’t hang around after class anymore. She left school during lunchtime, and sometimes even
asked him, “Leo, could you recommend some good health equipment?”
He only found out yesterday after asking Mia that Molly hadn’t talked to her for several days.
“What happened?”
Molly said, “Um, the Byrne family has some issues. I’ve been a bit busy lately.” Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
After class, Molly left again.
Anya also came to their classroom door, waiting for Leo to finish school. “Little Leo, Auntie seems really
busy lately.”
Leo took a few books from Anya’s arms, figuring he was born to serve others. Back when he was in
class with Mia and Molly, they used to dump their books on him. Now, he had met a soft-spoken Anya,
but his hands automatically took the heavy books from her. “She has some family matters to take care
of. Let’s go home.”
Anya followed him. “Our advisor sent a message in the group chat saying there’s a lecture tonight, and
we all have to attend.”
Leo saw that it was still early, and it was unnecessary to stay at the campus. “Send me the start and
end time of the lecture. We’ll go home first, and I’ll take you back when it’s time.”
Anya happily followed Leo. “Thanks, little Leo.”
Whenever he spoke to Anya now, her calling him “little Leo” echoed in his mind.
The results of Coleen’s biopsy came out, and it was confirmed - breast cancer. The doctor had already
guessed the diagnosis based on Coleen’s symptoms, and the results merely confirmed his suspicions.
For the Byrne family, they all clung to a glimmer of hope before the results came out, hoping it wasn’t
cancer. Even Coleen herself was fantasizing that she might just be too tired. When the results were
revealed, Molly couldn’t help but burst into tears in the doctor’s office.
Kendrick sat by, staring at the test results. Despite being worldly-wise, learning that his wife had cancer
choked him up.
The doctor, having seen many family members struggle to accept their loved ones’ diagnosis, gave the
Byrne family some time to digest the news.
Molly called Chad in tears. As soon as he picked up, before he could speak, he heard Molly sobbing at
the other end. He was worried. “Molly, what’s wrong?”
"Mom’s test results are out,” she said. Her words were interrupted by sobs. It was hard to understand
her. “It’s... the results confirmed... it’s breast cancer.”
Chad clenched his fist, staring at the pile of documents on his desk, unable to speak for a long time. All
their wishful thinking was nothing more but self-comfort against fear. When reality was laid before them,
they had to face it all.
Chad took a deep breath. “Don’t cry. I’ll be right at the hospital.”
Chad hung up, and within twenty minutes, he was at the doctor’s office. As the son, he couldn’t be
absent when deciding on his mother’s treatment plan.
The family of four, except for Coleen who was on an IV drip in her room, were all in the head doctor’s
office, discussing the treatment plan.
When Molly heard her mother’s cancer was somewhat severe and would require chemotherapy after
surgery, she couldn’t hold back her tears. Normally, these were things she only saw on TV. Now it was
happening in her life, and Molly was caught off guard.
Chad took a tissue from the table and wiped his sister’s tears.
With red eyes and a red nose, Molly asked the doctor, “Doctor, after the surgery, will this disease affect
her life? And will it relapse? Will her body be different from a healthy person’s?”
Molly sobbed, “But my mom is almost fifty. She just looks young, but her body isn’t.”
Chad asked the doctor, “When’s the earliest time she can have surgery?”
The doctor said, “After all the checks have been done, the earliest time would be the day after
tomorrow.”
Kendrick told his son, “Chad, let your mom decide.”
They spent over an hour in the doctor’s office before returning to the ward.
Coleen looked at her daughter’s red, swollen eyes and asked with a smile, “Who upset my little girl,
making her cry?”
“It’s you, Mom. How could you not take better care of yourself?” Molly cried out in worry. Reąd at

Coleen’s smile faded. She looked at her husband and asked, “The results are out, aren’t they?”
Sitting by her bed, holding her hand that was attached to the IV, Kendrick said, “Coleen, it’s just a small
surgery. It’s not a big deal.”
Upon hearing this, Coleen knew what the results were. She bit her lower lip, and lowered her head.
The tears fell onto the blanket.
Coleen lowered her head, sobbing softly. It was a fear she had anticipated. Now faced with reality, she
felt helpless.
