That Day When I Got Married to My Boss at the Blind Date

Chapter 1247

As soon as these words were spoken, not only did Laura’s face change, but Josie also frowned in response.

Josie was just about to say she wasn’t interested in that, but she didn’t voice them. Suddenly, she found herself curious about Laura’s reaction.

Laura’s face flashed with embarrassment for a moment. She turned to look at Josie, her expression softening. “Of course, that would be wonderful. The Olsen family needs a backbone, and I believe Leanne has the potential.”

After she finished speaking, she said, “Leanne, whenever you want to come in, I’ll arrange it.”

As the conversation reached this point, Josie locked eyes with her, managing a forced smile. “I’m not familiar with the Olsen family’s business,” she admitted. “For now, I think it’s best if you take the lead.”

Although she had gently declined, what caught Laura’s attention was the fact that Josie hinted at an intervention in the future.

Upon hearing this, Mark was displeased. “Leanne, in my opinion, we should get started as soon as possible. Laura has been managing this for two years and has gained a lot of experience. She is more than capable of guiding you.”

As Laura poured the tea, her movements never faltered, seemingly unfazed by anything.

“Indeed, I did have that bit of skill.”

Josie’s brows smoothed, and she felt that Dexter might be worrying over nothing. Laura clearly has no ambitious intentions, and even if she did, it would be perfectly normal. After all, she has been managing the Olsen family’s business for two years, and anyone would be displeased if they were to hand over their responsibilities upon my return.

With that in mind, Josie said, “At the moment, all I want is to delve deeper into my professional field. Everything else just isn’t right for me.”

Mark wanted to say more, but Josie cut him off by saying, “Enough. I’m just staying at the Olsen Residence temporarily.”

The conversation abruptly ended, and Mark’s dreams were shattered. He cleared his throat, choosing not to continue speaking.

Before long, Zach returned, his presence marked by a mingling scent of perfume and alcohol.

As they took their seats, it was Claudia who noticed first. “Leanne, where did these stains on your clothes come from?”

Josie had forgotten about that.

With great interest, Josie cast a glance at Zach. Seeing his unpleasant expression, she found it quite amusing. “I accidentally touched something filthy.”

Zach stared at her intently when he heard that.

Claudia paid no mind to their expressions or movements. “Go change quickly. You can’t go around dressed like that.”

“I’ll be more careful next time, but I fear that trouble has a way of finding me.”

Zach was about to rise immediately, but Laura caught hold of him in an instant.

When Josie returned after tidying herself up, the others were still waiting for her to join them for dinner. During the meal, Laura picked up a piece of fish and placed it on Josie’s plate. “I heard you’ve made quite a name for yourself abroad. There happens to be a designer’s cocktail party in Wavery tomorrow, attended by all the industry leaders. Would you like to go?” Laura asked.

“A designer’s cocktail party?” When Josie was abroad, she seldom attended such events. She prided herself on her aloofness, disliking social engagements.

“Yes. Now that you’ve returned to Wavery, you can’t just keep a low profile. Go out and meet some people. It will be beneficial for your future.” With a smile, Laura finished her words, then turned to Mark, saying, “I’m right, aren’t I, Dad?”

Mark thoughtfully nodded. “It’s good to get to know people, Leanne. Go ahead. With your talent, you shouldn’t be over-cautious.”

Josie idly stirred the food on her plate. “It’s not that I’m over-cautious. I just don’t enjoy those kinds of settings.”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Insincere,” Zach muttered under his breath.

Claudia immediately set down her cutlery, letting out a soft sigh.

Upon receiving the warning, Zach muttered under his breath, “That’s just how it is.”

Laura laughed. “I know, but I heard that Vivian is also attending tomorrow. Are you really not going?”

“Vivian?” Josie was taken aback. She was indeed a renowned designer, both domestically and internationally. They had met a few times and had instantly hit it off. “Isn’t she traveling abroad?”

“Exclusive news. It’s certain that she will arrive in Wavery tomorrow.”
