Chapter 196 The Other Man
In front of me is a very surprised Cassidy that has been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. Now my very first instinct is for my anger to burst lose and demand that she returns home. But yet, I have this curiosity that wishes to remain and see what she has gotten herself involved with.
Well, from where I am standing, it is rather…miraculous…
That is if I believe it is what I see.
So with two hesitant feet, I step forward and slowly come to a trembling stop next to her. For what seems like a long ten minutes, I stand and stare at this…thing…
I cannot make of what it truly is. If it is what I believe, then how can that even possibly be? But the biggest question is, “Cassidy, do you care to explain.”
“Lucas,” she continues to insist, “You were not supposed to see this.”
“Well, my dear, who is supposed to have seen THIS?”
But just then, from behind a closed door at the back of the room, appears a man. It seems that he has not shaved in almost seven days, and there is a slight odor about him.
Well, if she is having an affair with this man, then she can keep him, for I shall never touch her if she has been with this filth. Though before I know it, the man is in front of me, extending his hand, “The name is John, John Gurdon.”
With nothing but a cringe, I reluctantly shake only the tips of his fingers. God knows where those have been, and I surely hope it is not where I think.
But pushing this aside, I look at this man, “Are you the one that my wife has been running off to every night?”
“Yes, your wife has acquired my services.”
“God, please don’t tell me that you are a man of the night, well I would say lady, but you are rather unattractive for a…man.”
“Mr. Lecarde,” then he turns to Cassidy, and only but smirk, “You were right my dear; the man does have an ego as big as a horse.”
I step two little steps closer, not knowing if I should expose myself, for does this man know what his dear client, Cassidy truly is. Yet, I only but warn him with a soft growl that comes from deep in my throat.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“So,” I start again while looking at one rather fascinating piece of…I shall call it equipment…It has an outer shell or chamber that is made from thick glass. It seems to carry some kind of fluid that feeds into this chamber by one rather complex pump system. Then further to the side on a table, there are several machines hooked up to this thing that is rather ominously beeping.
After analyzing it for a further ten minutes, I turn to this man, “Mr. Gurdon…”
“Please,” he interrupts as he tries to put those filthy hands on my shoulders, “Please call me John.”
“Fair then, John.” I start circling this thing around in circles, hoping that perhaps that it is just an illusion of a mirror. Yet, “Tell me, what am I looking at?”
“Well, Lucas.”
I stop him directly, “It is Mr. Lecarde. Now yes, you can continue.”
“Fair then, Mr. Lecarde. What do you think this is?”
I run my hand through my thick brown hair, feeling the need to start pulling it out from frustration, “It seems to… Well…” Then I turn to Cassidy, “Is this the thing that you have been running off to every time for the past month?”
She shyly looks away from my gaze, for she knows that she cannot look me in the eye and tell me which I am going to guess is going to be the biggest lie of them all. Then finally, after five minutes, she finds that voice, “Yes, Lucas.”
Well, immediately, the man that is the Vampire Master steps forward, “You do know what happens to rogue Vampires…” I immediately realize my fumble of words and turn my eyes to dear John.
“No need to worry, Mr. Lecarde.” He only but smirks at me, “Your wife had to tell me the reason why she had done this.”
With rage now building from deep within, I turn back to Cassidy, “You have not only lied to me, but you have made your true self known. You know that you shall stand council for this. Now tell me what it is that you have don?”
But there is no reaction from her; she does not flinch or show an ounce of fear, not even in those blue eyes. She seems to stand firm with herself that she has not done anything wrong. How does she expect me to cover this up? I cannot simply kill this man because he did what my crazy wife told him to do.
But yet…
I step closer to John that is checking his equipment, then once again, the anger that I should feel for this deceit disappears as I stand next to him, “Is this a thingy, you know for what?”
“Yes, Mr. Lecarde. It is that kind of thingy. Now, do you wish for me to explain to you what all this is?”
“Of course, John. If my wife got herself involved in this, I am going to have to be the one that gets her out from it.”
“Well, you see this is, and as you can clearly see, it is not an illusion, but that is…”
“Stop!” There is the voice of Cassidy that comes echoing from across the room. “Don’t! I want to tell him what happened.” Then she pauses for a brief moment, looking at the vacuum, then back to me. “Lucas, if it is fine with you, may we go home?”
“And leave all of this here? What if someone finds it?”
From next to me, I hear John chuckle, “Why do you think I look as terrible as I do? Your wife has threatened to kill me if I don’t stay here the entire time.”
That only gets me a small laugh coming from my thoat, “Yes, that does sound like something that she would do. Now you will assure me that this thing will be fine here?”
“Double assure you, Mr. Lecarde.”
I step two steps closer to him again, “I bite a lot harder than my wife does.”
He only but scuffles his feet backward and pushes himself against the wall, “I am sure you do. I promise that everything will be here when you return.”
With that, I grab Cassidy rather tightly around her arm and lead her back outside to the back of the Hospital. At first, there is silence, for I cannot find the words to start telling her how much shock I still find myself in. Then without any warning, that shock turns to anger.
In one…two…three…
I have her backed up against a wall with my hand very firmly around her throat, “Give me one reason why I should not kill you for deceiving me?” With inch by inch, I tighten…lifting her slowly and raising her from her feet, “What have you done?”
She only but gargles her words, “Lucas, stop.”
But her please go unheard as I now expose my fangs, “I have asked you for the very last time; what have you done?”
She only but remains quiet. This fuels my fury, and I slowly move my snapping teeth towards her throat. “Lucas, don’t.”
“You shall pay, Cassidy. I am your Master; you do not deceive me. Do you not understand that?”‘
She only but nods her head, very much unable to speak as my continued squeezing is rendering her speechless. Her feet are now furiously kicking into my shins. Then in little than one snap, I drive my fangs deep into the sensitive skin of her delicate neck.
“Lucas!”
Her words go unheard as I slam in harder, nestling my razorsharp teeth deep into her veins, “You will obey me.” My voice comes mumbled as I start drawing inch by inch of her blood.
With utmost fury, I take from her, ripping her skin to pieces as I keep slicing her open. There is a part of me that knows that I am going to kill her if I do not stop now, but god, I forgot how good she tastes. I have not had her for such a long while. Since she has been running off into the night, she has taken the pleasure of her nectar away.
I do understand now why she has, but…
“You do not disobey me,” My voice rumbles down the alley as I drop her to her feet. Then for one more time, I snap my fangs and let them sink deep into the moist center of the hole that I have just ripped through her neck.
“My god, Cassidy!”
But I soon forget that it should not be ecstasy that I am feeling. I am furious at her for lying to me and even more for keeping away from me what she has done. She deserves to be punished.
With one snap of my hand, I expose my claws and make a swift move to her throat.
“Wait! It is yours.”
