The Alpha Vampire

Chapter 206 Possessed By A Dilemma

…Cassidy POV…

From the darkness of the corner, there has appeared a creature, and I am afraid to say that I have no idea what we are facing. So as I look at Roberto, that seems even more terrified than me, he only but shrugs his shoulders.

“I do believe we have a problem.”

Well, I nearly feel like slapping him, but yet, “What are we going to do? Lucas and the others are somewhere in the city.”

“Uhm,” he pauses for a brief moment after his hesitation, “Run!”

“Roberto, somehow, I don’t think that is going to work.”

As we are standing to decide what to do in the present situation, I can see from the corner of my eye as the creature is coming closer and closer to Roberto and me. There is an evil in his face that gives me chills up my spine; I do not even want to begin and guess what this thing does.

Let us hope he does not like feeding.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

But by the smell that radiates from him, I can safely say that he is covered in quite a great deal of blood. Some of which is dried up and rather old, not even to mention the smell…

The next thing I know, I have Roberto grabbing me by the arm and pulling me back to where we entered. But no!

“Wait!” There is no way I am leaving now, “I need to check if he is still fine.”

Roberto cocks his head with utter frustration, “I don’t know what you need, but we need to leave now.”

With that, I can feel the cold breath of the creature start falling like ice on my skin, and as I turn around, he is only but an arm’s length away. But from here, I can see every horrified side of him. So with much reluctance Roberto and I speed down the corridor and make it to the door, creating a rather big gap between us and the creature.

But if we thought that it was going to be so easy, we are sadly mistaken for from behind us, it gains ground, and as we slam the door behind us, we hear as it comes crashing back through.

“Fuck!” Roberto can only utter while he reaches for his phone in his pocket. With frantic fingers, he finds Lucas’s number and starts dialing.

He waits…

And then he waits…

Waiting…

Then finally, he drops the call and looks at me, “Run!”

As fast as our feet can carry us, we run to the only place we know where we will be safe…Home

But home is where we will also find weapons, for it seems like we are going to have to kill this one by ourselves. Not that we have an idea what it is, but all I know is that I have never been so rocked by terror in my life. Through every Hunt we have gone, Lucas was always there; now Roberto and I need to brave this one ourselves.

Then for the first time, I realize, “Roberto, how do we kill this thing?”

“I am hoping a dagger.”

But as I look back again for what is the hundredth time now, I size this creature up and think that somehow a dagger is not going to be the best weapon. This thing is almost twice the size of Roberto; well, if you take that much of it is just… God, I don’t even know what the thing is made of. All I know is that he is running with loud thuds towards us.

“We need to go faster” is the only thought that matters at the present. But we are already going as fast as a Vampire can go, and this creature seems to be staying on our heels. We are leading it straight to our home, straight where we are going to put Lilith in danger.

But as I see it, she is one hand extra to try and take out this monster. Though, and sadly to say, not one of us has the experience that Lucas and the Winchester boys have.

Perhaps.

“Roberto, why don’t you try Sam? I am sure they can spare a Winchester boy for us?”

As if the light goes in for him as well, he takes his phone from his pocket and brings Sam’s number to dial it. So once again…

We wait…

And we wait…

And…

“This better be good, Roberto.”

Roberto sighs in relief as Sam answers the call, but, “Are you not supposed to be fighting a monster?”

From the other side, I can hear as Sam speaks, being rather out of breath, “At the moment, we are being hunted.”

I cannot help but chuckle, then I take the phone from Roberto, “We are in trouble.” Still very much dashing down the street, I try to speak to Sam with my own hurried breaths, “It seems like we are also being hunted.”

Sam only goes silent for a moment before he snaps in anger, “Cassidy, what have you done wrong this time.”

“Nothing; I tried going to the Hospital when some creature tried to attack Roberto and me.”

“Hospital?” Sam asks out of confusion, but then the second part sinks in, “You are being chased by a creature?”

“Yes,” my voice starts raising louder as the rain has started to pound harder than it had earlier, but it is my rapid breathing that makes it hard for me to speak, let alone hear Sam.

“Cassidy, where are you know?”

“We are racing like lunatics to get back home, but I am afraid to say that the damn thing is right on our tail.”

“What does it look like?”

“It has…” then the goddamn phone dies, leaving me even more frustrated. “Roberto, are we going to make it?”

Roberto, who does not wish to stop running for a moment, stops for a brief second, “We always make it. Now come, we need to get home and hope that Sam will show up.”

And that is a thought which I pray over and over for as I can hear the stomping behind us grow louder and louder. He is gaining ground. It is only going to take a few more steps, and we will be in its clutches.

But there is something wrong with this creature behind us; there is something oddly familiar; he seems to be a mutation of…

Then suddenly, with almost a relief, we find ourselves on the doorstep of our home. Roberto wastes no time in nearly barging the thing down. As soon as we both are inside safely, Roberto makes sure to lock it behind us; though that seems like it will not stay like that for long, this monster is pounding at the door as it is trying to gain entry.

With that, the noise attracts the attention of Lilith that is coming out from the common room. She only but frowned at us, “What are you two doing?” Then she pauses for a moment. “And why are you out, Cassidy?”

I wave her off as we are trying to hold the door to prevent the creature from pushing his way through. Then Roberto shows for Lilith to see for herself what we are up to as she looks through the peephole.

“My god, what is that?”

“I don’t know,” Roberto says as he only shakes his head at Lilith, but then he instructs her, “Go find all the weapons you think that can kill this thing.”

With one nod, she rushes off to the armory, leaving Roberto and me to try and keep this thing at bay. But then, from the other side, it comes through; clearly, there is a deep growl, almost like someone is in agony.

I am guessing the agony to feed.

And that is the agony that in as little as…one…two…three… The door comes off its hinges as the creature forces it open with what seems almost like great ease. It takes him even less time to step inside in search of Roberto and me that are now taking cover in the ballroom.

“Fuck,” Is the only thing that I can utter as the thought comes to me, “Lilith.”

But I think I can safely say that Lilith is not in harm’s way at present, for the creature has now entered the ballroom. It is flipping chairs and tables over as it searches for Roberto and me. I can clearly hear him hissing; his breathing is still strained from running. But somehow, it gives me the impression that it will not make a difference to the strength that he possesses.

And as I think of that very strength, I recall the darkness of his eyes as he stared at me at the Hospital. But staring now is the beast that has found where Roberto and I were hiding. In a mere fling of his arm, he rips me off the floor from behind the curtain.

The next thing I know, I am on my back, and he has positioned himself on top of me. As he flicks his head to the back for what I am now guessing is feeding, I can see…

But next, there is a voice that comes from the entrance of the ballroom.
