Chapter 216 Battle Of Angel Blades
It is with determination that we descend on the small hotel room that is covered under darkness. There has been no sight of the living for the five minutes that we have been standing and surveying our surroundings.
Now it is fully expected for Breyden to have cast a spell in the effort to warn us off from entering. Yet the question begs, would he be expecting us to find him out in these parts of the City, let alone in New York City.
So it is with one cautious step after the other that the red door is now fast approaching. Though what else will be on the fast-burning side will be the fact that Breyden would have sensed the presence of another Angel by now.
Though he is not aware that Cass is friends with the Winchester brothers, so he shall perhaps not even bother to explore why another Angel finds himself in the same surroundings. So it is with this hope that Cass will be the one that shall, at first, try to knock with the attempt to get Breyden to open. Should that not succeed…well, Dean is waiting in anticipation to kick a door down.
With this, we take the small two steps that lead us on the pathway that will take us directly to the door. There is an eery stillness that surrounds the room and the hallway. The smell of honey lies thick in the air; the mere presence of the scent reassures me that my dear sister is behind the other side of this worn-down door…
A door that, as was not the plan, is now being kicked down even before Cass can reach his hand forward and knock on it. Dean has taken it upon himself to speed up this attack as he is now firmly claiming, “I would love to get home today still.”
Well, that is very much debated as from the center of the bed that is standing in the middle of the room, there is a light that is being switched on. Now, if we were prepared, that is still much to be debated, for next Breyden rises from where he is lying next to the body of Lilith…
And my god!
I don’t think the woman is alive.
Yet, our presence has been seen as a blatant attack. With a rumble from his chest, Breyden steps closer to where Cass has entered the room in the attempt to get close to Lilith to see if she is still, in fact, alive.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
But Breyden reaches underneath his shirt to his back; in one swift slice, he produces not one but two Angel blades this time. The man had taken the other from my study when I was not aware. My god, he could have even gone there while we were out looking for him.
Cass only but smirks as he reaches in what seems like an inch of a second underneath that awful smelling coat and produces his very own blades. In a slight touch, I can hear the tinkle together; the sound vibrates through the room and forces Breyden to stand at alarm and move to the foot of the bed.
With his utmost best, Cass tries to lure Breyden away from the bed for me to see if Lilith is still okay. But Breyden is not about to take this fight anywhere else than where he is at present. It is with the scuffle of feet into the direction of Breyden that Cass makes his way, trying to ease him down, “Breyden, let the man have his sister. I do not wish to harm you.”
Breyden only but shakes his head at Cass while he slightly cocks his head, “What are you doing here in any case? Should you not be fighting a war somewhere else?”
“My friend, I have lost my way the same as you have done. Now I do understand that you love the woman, but please let Lucas have a look at her.”
“I am afraid that is not going to happen. You would have to get past my dead body if you wanted to see her.”
Cass only but smirks at Breyden as he moves two more inches of a step forward, “I can arrange that for you if you wish, but we are not leaving without Lilith here today.”
And in an instant…
Their blades touch…
It is with a fast reflective attack that Cass swings his blade around his wrist and catches it firmly within his hands. In a breath of a whisper, he has the tip pointed right against the tip of Breyden’s chin, “Now I said, let the woman Vampire go.”
In a fling two the side, Breyden steps out the way and pins his blade into the side of Cass as he catches him off guard for a brief moment. Cass slaps his blade aside, and they both drop to the ground.
As Breyden tries to reach for it, Cass steps closer and pierces the tip of both his blades in Breyden’s soft skin. Slowly he pressed deeper and deeper into his flesh; there was a slight moan of agony that escaped Breyden’s lips.
But it is not the piercing that is the most painful; it is the light that is coming from the tiny open wound on Breyden’s chest. The light instantly casts a shadow over the body of Lilith, and in the hints of light that catch her body, I can see the slight movement of her chest.
Lilith is still alive, but I can smell fear.
If it is the fear of Breyden that he shall be defeated any moment or that of Lilith, that I do not know. But it does bring a newfound determination to me.
So I step next to Cass and look Breyden in the eyes; his eyes have gone brighter than normal as the light is being drained from his body with each piercing wound that Cass makes.
And with only but one hand, I take a blade away from Cass to much of his frustration and drive it even deeper into the open skin on Breyden’s chest. He growls in pain as the blood starts to drip from it, but then…
He launches back…
Cass shoves me to the side, where I fall flat on my ass while he moves towards Breyden. He tosses his blades in my direction and looks over his shoulder, “He is mine.”
With one swing of his arm, his hand makes contact me the side of Breyden’s face in one loud smack. The force behind the punch is so great that it knocks Breydan to his feet.
He rises.
In one…two…three…
He balls his fist that is covered in blood…
My god!
In the corner of the room, there is the woman that he had taken from the alley…
Cass sees the dead woman and launches a full hand of knuckles right underneath Breyden’s chin. His head falls back as his body lands with a loud thud against the wall.
Breyden gathers his legs and stands to face Cass once again…
But…
BANG.
Cass drives his hand into Breyden’s gut, making him topple forward and fall to the ground. The moment that Breyden hits the floor, Cass is there standing over him with his foot firmly placed on his chest.
Then Cass looks over to me, “Take your sister and go.”
But…
I move an inch of a foot closer to the bed…
And Lilith is swept up in Breyden’s arms…
With that, they are gone…
Cass looks at Dean and me in frustration, “Can we get a spell on the man first next time, for I have now just wasted half an hour of my time.”
Dean only but grinds his teeth and looks at me, and god, yes, I wait in patience, “Please tell the man that he has wasted our time. We could have taken the Angel by ourselves.”
“Well,” Cass walks closer to where I am standing and does even need to mention that I am right next to Dean, but still, “Tell him that if he did not need my help, then why did he call for me in the first place?”
I only but shake my head in clear frustration as I look over to Dean, “Well, you heard the man; what is your answer?”
“Tell him,” Dean says with one slight smirk, “Tell the child that I did not call him. It was my brother. Now he can go back to where he came from.”
Cass looks at me while he grinds on his teeth, “Just for calling me a child, I am not going to go anymore but irritate your ass.”
Well, just if I think that our night cannot get any more interesting than it has already gotten, I have my dear brother, that likes to be the bearer of all bad news stepping forward. Damien comes close to me and softly whispers to Dean and me, “I sense the presence of a group of Vampires…”
