The Alpha’s Dynasty

COO

Zane’s POV

I didn’t plan it, in fact I had no idea how I was going to get closer to Maya, but things just fell into place. It seemed my very human mate had a terrible flaw of late coming, which worked in my favor that day. It was so perfect, that she wouldn’t suspect of having ulterior motives. She probably thought I was just another evil CEO punishing an errant employee.

I could see her on the other side, working at her desk. She was typing so fast I was surprised they buttons on the keyboard had not fallen off. I could tell she was boiling with anger, but what could I do? Now that I finally had her near, I wasn’t about to let her go.

Having her as my assistant was great because now I could stare at her as much as I wanted. I took time to observe her extremely beautiful features. Her brown hair was wavy and long. I liked the way it cascaded on the sides of her pretty face. Those lips! They looked so hot, so full and kissable.

She was wearing a very conservative blouse and skirt that I wished I could rip off and devour her right there. I had been sporting an erection since she entered my office and it was getting uncomfortable. I wanted her so much that it hurt. The fact that she was so near and yet so far made things unbearable. Maybe it was better when she was far away. All I wanted was to pull her into my arms, kiss her senseless and give her the best sex of her life.

Unable to take it anymore, I stood up and went to her desk. She did not look up when I sat on the chair near her desk. She continued to type but the speed slowed down.

“What do you think about Kim Dalton?” I asked. It was the only topic I could think of on such short notice.

“On another day, I would have lied and said she’s a nice girl and whatnot but not today. Kim Dalton is a scheming little b! tch. I know she wants my job, and possibly to ruin my life. What I don’t know is why because I have never done anything bad to her. That’s all I can say.”This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

I believed her, but I didn’t want to show it. I knew how to deal with women like Kim and soon she was going to get what she deserved.

“What about Harry smith?” I asked.

Maya glanced at me. “Mr. Carrington, if you’re looking for office gossip, you might have to look elsewhere. I do not partake in it.”

“I’m asking as your boss.”

Maya stood up. “You want to fire me? Do it, Mr. Carrington. I loved working in this company but I’m willing to leave if I’m not treated with respect. Yes, I know I did wrong but I’m serving my punishment already. If you want me to continue respecting you, you will have to respect my boundaries. We both have to respect each other or this won’t work. I can’t deal with this.”

I was shocked. She had seemed so meek before, but I could see that she had another side. Maya Bennett was a fiery little creature. There was a fire that burned bright inside her.

She could stand up for herself, and I liked that. She was strong, and knew when to bring out just like a good luna should. I had not yet thought much about her future with me. I wanted to study her first before deciding whether to accept her as a mate or not.

The chances of me accepting her had just increased. My little kitty had balls.

“It’s my turn to say sorry,” I said and she sat back down. She looked so stressed I felt like pulling her close to me. The more I looked at her beautiful, flawless face, the more I wanted to kiss her so hard. “I’m sorry for not respecting your boundaries and the decision not to talk about Harry Smith.”

“Thank you,” she said.

I stood up. “I’ll step out for a bit.”

I felt relieved when I went out. The sexual tension in there had grown. Without her sweet intoxicating scent, it was easier to relax from outside. I walked along the hallway and went to the floor below to supervise the employees in the cubicle area. I figured it would help me take my mind off things.

In all honesty, I did not know much about insurance but ever since I took over the company, I had been reading a lot of books on it so that I wouldn’t sound like a total idiot among the partners. Thanks to my werewolf nature, I could read and understand things faster than humans. My memory was also sharper.

After making sure that all was going well, I decided to check on my COO (Chief Operating Officer) to make sure everything was going well. I had maintained the old COO although I was not very sure it was a good decision since he was close to the former owner. He could easily betray me but I could only hope it wouldn’t come to that because the consequences would not be good. My COO was very much older than me. He was 46 years old and had a lot of experience in insurance, just like Mr. Milner.

I reached the office and knocked. I heard a scuffle inside, chairs being pushed and fast movement. The smell coming from inside was enough to tell me what was going on. But, I didn’t leave. I needed to know who the man was screwing.

“It’s me,” I said.

The door was opened almost immediately. Mr. Harlow looked conflicted, as if he wanted to invite me inside and knew it was not a good thing.

“It seems you’re busy,” I said. “Please come to my office later.”

“Yes, sir.” He said, looking relieved.

I turned away and when I heard the door close behind me, I got my phone and dialed a number.

“Who was the last person to enter Harlow’s office?” I asked one of my men whom I had out in charge of the security room.

“Let me check,” he said.

I took the stairs as I waited.

“It’s that girl who was working as your assistant when Johnny had accident.”

“Kim Dalton?”

“I think so.”

That did not surprise me at all, but it helped know who I wasn’t going to keep as COO.
