Chapter 552
Chapter 552
Ronan was aware that Cordelia had just sent a gift to Jamie, but he didn't bring it up.
After three years, the topic of a romantic rival wasn't as prickly as it once was. They had just gotten
together, and he wasn't keen on stirring the pot.
Once the gift was sent, Cordelia noticed a chat bubble with her friend, Victoria, at the top of her
Messenger app - odd, since she couldn't recall talking to her while they were both at home.
Curiously, she tapped to open it. Victoria's messages popped up. [Hey BFF, you home yet? Sobered
up?]
[I'm counting on you with Harold, you know.]
[Della, that guy you were all over - what's he look like? Send a pic. Is he as hot as Mr. Evans? Bet he
can't hold a candle to Mr. Evans.]
None of Victoria's messages had the new message indicator.
“Did you check my Messenger?” Cordelia asked Ronan tentatively.
“Your phone kept buzzing, so I muted it,” Ronan said nonchalantly, his eyes still on his book, seemingly
unfazed by the incident.
Cordelia was taken aback. She had thought Ronan was clueless about Eason’s existence. She wanted
to clear the air, yet words failed her. Finally, she muttered, “Victoria can be such a pain, always sticking
her nose where it doesn’t belong.”
“Yeah, she can be,” Ronan agreed passively.
Cordelia offered a forced chuckle before pretending to fall asleep.
Ronan’s phone rang. It was Peter. “Mr. Evans, are you free on Monday? Swing by Birchwood if you
can. We need to talk about the Edith Hills project, and there’s something else I’ve got to discuss with
you,” Peter said.
Peter had initially planned to bring up Cordelia’s situation at the next meeting, but Petra was like a
ticking time bomb, and he couldn’t risk his entire fortune on Edith Hills. Sleep had eluded him for days,
prompting the call to Ronan.
“Monday?” Ronan paused to consider. Mondays were typically reserved for staff meetings at Lumos
Enterprises, and he rarely visited Birchwood then. But with Cordelia here, he replied, “Alright.”
After hanging up, Cordelia inquired, “Who was that?”
“Do you need to know everything?"
"Just making conversation..."
"It’s Peter."
Cordelia puzzled for a moment before checking her own phone. It was quiet. Even the Empower
Operations group chat was silent.
"Why'd he ask you to a meeting and not me?"
"Like I said before, you're not high on the totem pole," Ronan said, brushing it off.
With a pout, Cordelia turned her back to him.
Callum came in, noticed Cordelia lying in bed, and climbed in as well.
"Did he now?" She guessed as much.
"Mommy, you're not leaving again, right? Did you come back for me?" Callum asked, hope in his voice.
"Yes, I did."
"Can I sleep with you guys tonight then? I've never slept in your bed before," Callum requested. NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
"Of course," Cordelia agreed warmly.
That night, with their child nestled between them, Ronan surprisingly refrained from any late-night
antics with Cordelia.
