Chapter 499
Chapter 499
Rebuilding the Cemetery As they stepped out of the Wynn Manor, Reene asked somewhat worriedly, "Kingsley, are you going to sort them out at Ramada Hotel? Well, the Coliree Group's owner is your comrade-in-arms, but wouldn't it be sort of bad to do this?"
"Don't worry, Reene. I know what I'm doing," Kingsley reassured her with a smile. "Come on, let's go. Should I drive you home first?" he said while helping her open the passenger side door of his car.
After getting into the car, Reene asked in puzzlement, "Kingsley, where else are you going? You've just come back from Diosna, so you shouldn't be going around."
"I'm going to check on my parents' cemetery." Kingsley started the car. "I haven't been there to take a look since coming back from Diosna."
A tender expression appeared on Reene's face. "I'll go with you, then. I have yet to pay them my respects."
"There's no hurry. The cemetery isn't finished yet," Kingsley replied while driving the car. "It won't be too late for you to pay your respects to them after I'm done getting rid of those who have to be taken care of."
A hint of worry flickered across Reene's face when she heard this. She opened her mouth and wanted to say something, only to bite back the words in the end. Kingsley had always appeared casual and cheerful since his return, but she had noticed long ago that he had been doing things she didn't know about. Even his identity seemed more complicated than it appeared to be! She replied with a sigh,
"Kingsley, no matter what you're gonna do, just keep in mind that I always have your back. I'm just the chairman of a small company for now, but as long as you need it, I'll do my best to help you—even if it means I'll have to put my life on the line!"
Kingsley was moved deep down by her words. She's right! I have to avenge the murder of my parents besides facing those cunning and vicious Sweoyan spies, but I have seven sisters at my back who are willing to put their lives on the line for me! In an instant, he felt reinvigorated. Taking a deep breath to compose himself, he replied with a grin, "Reene, what else can I be doing? I'm just eating and drinking around like a loafer. And besides, although you're still the chairman of a small department store right now, I believe it won't take long for you to become the number one female entrepreneur on the list of richest Qustians!"
Reene burst into a chuckle. "You've always been such a smooth talker since you were little!" she said before pointing at the crossroads ahead. "Just turn left over there. I'm going straight back to my office in order to work hard to become the number one female entrepreneur!"
"Alright!" Kingsley replied. With that, he turned the steering wheel and turned left right away… Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
After driving Reene to the Neveah Department Store, he went straight to the Nicholson Family Cemetery.
It had been some time since the previous explosion. At this moment, the cemetery had taken shape once again thanks to Leroy's hard work around the clock.
Upon entering the cemetery, Kingsley noticed that the safety helmets worn by the workers on the construction site no longer bore the logo of Codrington Construction. Instead, the logos on their helmets belonged to another construction company.
"Mr. Nicholson!" Leroy hurriedly trotted up to Kingsley as soon as he saw his car. "You're here, Mr. Nicholson."
Seeing the man's suntanned face, Kingsley said with a smile, "You've worked hard these days."
"No, not at all!" Leroy replied with an innocent smile. "Seeing the cemetery being rebuilt bit by bit makes me full of energy!"
"Even so, don't overwork yourself. Go back and visit Mr. Johnson more often when you have time." Kingsley patted him on the shoulder. "By the way, I've noticed that these workers aren't the ones from Codrington Construction anymore?"
Leroy scratched his head. "After the previous explosion, I thought Codrington Construction was kind of unreliable even if they had nothing to do with the incident."
