Chapter 569
Chapter 569
Parker looked over and shrugged. "No wonder Easton called me out in such a hurry. It is because
you're coming. Mr. Xavier, is it appropriate to always involve children in adult matters?"
Derek's face darkened. Easton only felt that Parker was so difficult to deal with after hearing his words.
It seemed that no matter what others did, he always had his ways to refute.
"Then what you did was right? Who are you to lecture us like that?"
Easton said, unconvinced. Parker glanced at him.
Just as he was about to say something, Meredith heard the noise and walked out. She couldn't help
but frown when she saw Derek.
"What are you doing here?"
Shouldn't he be staying with Evelyn and having fun with her now?
"I have something to tell you."
Derek looked into Meredith's eyes and said seriously.
Parker suddenly had an ominous feeling. Just when he was about to remind Meredith not to listen to
Derek's lies, Meredith looked at him and said, "Parker, take Easton out for a while."
It might be better to put everything on the table than to keep avoiding them.
Parker hesitated for a moment. Finally he nodded. "Let's go."
Easton looked reluctant, but he knew that it was not the time for him to lose his temper, so he left.
However, he refused to hold Parker's hand and left on his own.
"What do you want to say?"
Meredith looked at Derek calmly. She had thought a lot earlier, but now she was quite calm.
At the very least, Derek could not see any anger or jealousy on her face.
He began to panic for no reason.
"I didn't know why Evelyn was there. I hadn't contacted her. I..."
"It doesn't matter. None of these matters to me. Even if it does, I don't care."
Before he could finish his words, Meredith interrupted him.
Derek suddenly didn't know what to say.
He would rather see Meredith be angry at him than be so indifferent.
It was as if everything about him was none of her business, and she didn't care about him at all.
"Easton just called me and said you were upset, so I come. I want to explain this to you."
"Don't bother. It's your freedom to be with Evelyn. Even if you are with anyone else, it's none of my
business."
Meredith did not dare to look into Derek's eyes. She was afraid that she would weaken.
She just said coldly.
Derek's expression changed.
He wanted to explain, but she didn't want to listen to him.
He felt very powerless.
The dignity of a man made it impossible for him to continue.
The two of them were just facing each other, not saying any words, and the atmosphere was awkward.
After some time, Meredith sighed. "I still have to go back to take care of my mother. You go back first
and have a good rest."
Derek did not know how to answer her.
All his words seemed to have sunk into a black hole and get no response.
Maybe it was because she didn't care about him anymore.
"Okay, I got it."
Derek didn't say anything else. He didn't want to humiliate himself anymore.
He turned around and slowly walked away.
Meredith looked at his back and for the first time felt that Derek could be so downcast.
She felt heartbroken, but she did not catch up.
Derek left the hospital and it suddenly began to rain outside.
He was not in a hurry to go back, so he walked slowly. Not long after, his clothes were drenched, as
well as his hair.
It was really a weather that suited his mood.
Seeing this, the driver of the Xaviers rushed over and held up an umbrella for him. "Young Master, get
in the car quickly. Don't catch a cold."
Derek smiled, looked up at the floor where Meredith was, but saw nothing. He shook his head and left.
It was so obvious just now that she didn't care what happened to him. So Meredith wouldn't care
whether he got wet or not.
What he didn't know was that Meredith was really looking at him just now. When she saw him in the
rain, she even wanted to let him take the umbrella with him, but she controlled herself.
When Derek looked up, she quickly hid.
She was afraid of being seen by Derek, and then everything she had just done would be in vain.
Not long after Derek left, Easton came back. Parker held an umbrella for him. He was not wet at all, but
Parker's clothes were almost soaked.
Because Easton didn't want to come into contact with Parker, Parker could only cover Easton with the
umbrella.
As soon as they came back, they saw Meredith in a daze at the window. Parker walked over and saw
Derek's car leaving.
It seemed that she still cared about him.
"He's gone?"
His voice brought Meredith back to her senses.
"Yes."
Meredith replied indifferently, "Maybe he won't come back to me again."
Parker didn't say anything, just standing aside quietly.
Meredith stood in front of the window and thought of something.
Perhaps she was just used to having Derek in her life, so she could not adapt that he left so suddenly.
But she would get used to it after a long time.
The driver sent Derek back to the old residence.
Derek kept his eyes closed when he got into the car. He didn't tell the driver where he wanted to go.
The driver was afraid that something would happen to him in the apartment because he was alone, so
the driver brought him here.
When the car stopped, Derek saw the old residence and frowned. "Who told you to come here?"
He said he wouldn't come back until Violet made a concession.
But did her opinion make sense now? Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
Anyway, Meredith no longer needed him.
"Never mind. It's good to come back."
Derek didn't say anything. He got out of the car and walked in.
The servants immediately gave him a dry towel when they saw he come back drenched.
Violet heard the noise outside and walked out to see Derek coming back.
Violet smiled in surprise. She thought that Derek would not come back after that argument.
"Derek, you come back. Why are you so wet? Go and make ginger soup for Derek now. And you, go
and prepare the bathwater."
Violet quickly made the orders to the servants and then looked at Derek.
He didn't look well. It was like that...he was back to the state he was when Meredith just "died".
Violet seemed to have guessed what happened.
There might be something wrong between him and Meredith, and it was a serious problem.
"Derek, did you... break up with Meredith?"
