Chapter 93
Katrina's POV
I froze as soon as I stepped into my room, the door clicking shu behind me.
What was this? How did I get myself in this situation? I wondered as I stared straight ahead, my heart racing in my chest.
Chris was there, sitting on the edge of my bed like he had every fight to be. His dark eyes locked onto mine, and for a moment, I couldn't breathe. What was he doing here? And how did he get in here? I was just about to run back out when he shook his head slightly tapping on his hip.
My eyes fell on the dark glint tucked in his trousers and my heart fell. A gun.
He was warning me not to make any sudden moves because of the gun he had. But which would be faster, Chris taking the gun out of his pocket or me turning on my heels and dashing off.
I didn't want to know.
"Chris," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "What are you doing here?"
The grounds were filled with Silas' men on patrol and someone Chris had managed to go past every one of them.
in and told him.
And how did he know which particular room was mine? Someone must have let him in
We had a mole in the house.
"Jeez. I can smell the cogs in your head turning. Stop trying to understand how I got in," he sat. My eyes followed his every movement, I was only trying to be careful.

Oaned, pushing up from where
There was something unhinged in his expression and it sent shivers down my spine. He looked at me like I was some kind of prize he'd come to collect. I took one slow step back but even that seemed to have caught his attention. "Katrina you have a habit of doing that exact opposite of what I ask you to do," he said and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. Was I supposed to listen to him?
"Alright since you won't listen, let me make this easy for both of us. I want you to run out of this out for Silas to come save you,"
He wanted me to do the exact opposite of that. But this was the one thing I would gladly listen to.
And he never answered my question, so I repeated it.
"Why are you here Chris?"

The last time we had met was at my first ball where that asshoke had taken me to Marcos. I remember humiliating him then, did he forget about that or does he want revenge? I don't think I want to know. "I'm here to take what's mine," he said simply, as if that explained everything.
I frowned, confusion mixing with the anger that was already simmering in my chest. "What are you talking about?"
Take what's his? What in Silas' Mafia would belong to him?
At this point I didn't care anymore, I was going to take the risk and scream for Silas to come.
His men don't care about me, but I'm certain they'd be mad once they find out someone who isn't part of their mafia was

"You, Katrina. I'm here for you!" Chris burst out and my eyes snapped to him.
Me? What in the delusional fuck was he talking about?
Chris's jaw clenched, his hands curling into fists at his sides. "You should've been my wife, Katrina. Silas ruined everything. He stole you from me, but I'm here to fix that now."
My heart dropped, and then the absurdity of what he'd said hit me. I laughed. I couldn't control it, I just threw my head back and laughed. "Stop dreaming, Chris. I'm not yours, and I never was."
The only thing that was between us was a forced marriage and I never wanted that. Plus I still haven't forgotten how he ran on the day of the wedding.
Chris' face darkened, and he took a step toward me. My instincts screamed at me to back away, but I held my ground. There's no way he'd pull me out of this room and down.
If he wanted to get me he would have to push me out of the window, and I sure hope he wasn't going to do that.
Right?
"You don't get it, do you?" he hissed, pulling my attention back to him. "You were meant to be mine. Not his I'm here to take you back, Katrina, whether you like it or not."
Fear crept in, but I didn't let it show. "You're delusional. Silas might have ruined that wedding, but he did me a favor. I wasn't going to marry you, Chris. Not then, not now, not ever." How hard was it for him to get that? I never wanted him and I never will.
That's when his calm snapped. He lunged toward me, his hand reaching for my arm. I barely dodged in time, stumbling back against the door.
"Chris, stop!" I shouted, my voice trembling despite my best efforts. My fingers desperately pulled against the door knob but this was the best time for it to act up.
Chris didn't stop. He came at me again, and this time his hands caught my wrist. Panic surged through me as he pulled me closer, his strength overpowering mine.
"You think you can talk to me like that?" he growled, his face inches from mine. "I'll show you who you belong to,"
"No!" I screamed, using all my strength to pull myself free. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst out of my chest and maybe that was actually the best thing to happen.
Chris brought out his gun at the same moment turned and bolted toward the door. I yanked it open, running as fast as I could. "Katrina!" He growled loudly, and I heard the cocking. At this point it seemed he didn't care about if Silas caught him or not.
I didn't look back, and didn't care where I was going. My only thought was to get away from him.
Chris's footsteps thundered behind me, closer than I wanted them to be. My legs carried me fast but not as fast as I needed.
And where were Silas' men when you needed them? Currently someone chased me down with a gun in his hands and they were nowhere to be found. How absurd is that?
I didn't have the time to think about all that, I just pushed myself further.
My breath came in ragged gasps as I raced down the hallway. And then I saw him.

Silas. He was standing at the bottom of the staircase, he was talking to someone with his back to me.
"Silas!" I screamed, my voice echoing through the house.
I didn't think, I just acted. I leaped over the banister, my only goal to get to him.
My stomach flipped as I soared through the air just as a gunshot rang out.
