Chapter 47
Violette POV
“Oh my Goddess! You marked each other? That’s wonderful, Lillian!” I said. She showed off her mark with pride and I was so excited for her.
“Did hit hurt?” I asked. I’d always been so curious as to how a marking felt. Unfortunately in my case, it seems that may never be in my future.. Honestly though.. I was beginning to feel okay with that.
“Kind of.. but it was a good hurt, if that makes sense. And, I may or may not have marked him first..” she said. I threw my hand over my mouth and giggled.
“Lillian! Who would have thought?” I asked. Her face was so red from embarrassment but I thought it was hilarious.
I pulled her in for a tight hug. My best friend is the happiest I’ve ever seen her.. it’s the most amazing thing in the world.
“I’m so happy for you, Lillian.. you have no idea.” I pulled back and smiled a big, toothy smile at her.
“Thank you.” She said softly. Before I could say anything else I fell to my knees on the floor in pain.
“Princess?” She asked. I cried out, clutching my stomach and chest. No.. the pains are back. I’d gone an entire month without them, only for them to return with a vengeance.NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“I’ll go get Ms. Beatrice!” She said and quickly sped off.
Tears poured from my eyes at the immense pain I was feeling. This was so much worse than before.. I couldn’t even stand up in time before I was throwing up everywhere from the pain. This is so.. horrible. Why did the Goddess ever make this a thing?
“Dear, Goddess! Violette are you okay?” Beatrice ran up to me as quickly as she could and kneeled down beside me.
“I-it feels like.. I’m being stabbed ev-everywhere.” I sobbed as I wiped the corner of my mouth with the back of my hand.
“Lillian, have someone clean this up and help me get her to her room.” Beatrice said. Lillian quickly sped off and returned with another servant.
“Come now.. let’s get you in there.” Beatrice helped Lillian pull me off the ground and walk me across the castle. I felt so dizzy.. felt so goddess- awful. Maybe this would be the end, right here.. right now.
Every movement it felt like my guts would spill out. I’d been in pain before, but nothing quite like this. Not even Fathers strikings hurt this bad..
We crossed Masters room and I had the faintest smell of Minerva, which made my nausea even worse. Goddess, why does everything have to be so bad?
The guards opened my door and we walked in.
“Let’s get her on the bed, I have her herbs on the dresser.” Beatrice said. They lay me down and Beatrice quickly walked over to my dresser and gathered the herbs. She began mixing them, all while Lillian held me and looked at me with worry in her eyes.
“It’s okay, it will be over soon. I promise.” Lillian said. She ran her hand over my sweating forehead and began humming a soft tune.
“Here we go.. lift her up some.” Beatrice said. Lillian raised my head while Beatrice dumped the mixture into my mouth. I quickly guzzled it down, choking slightly and some spilled out of the corners of my mouth.
“Oh dear.. just give it a moment..” Beatrice said. Lillian kept humming as she lay my head back down.
“I wish I knew who it was..” I cried out in anguish.
“I’d like to give him a piece of my mind.” Beatrice said sternly. It made me slightly giggle as the pain began to subside.
After a few minutes it was as if the pain never even happened.
“How do you feel?” Lillian asked. I let out a sigh as I dried my eyes.
“So much better. Thank you both.. I don’t know what I’d do without either of you.” I said. Beatrice gave me a sad smile.
“Just get better. You may have the rest of the day to relax. The mixture should help you sleep, I threw in some extra herbs.” Beatrice said. She began lifting my dress to see if I’d began bruising again.
Lillian gasped loudly.
“How bad is it?” I asked.
“This is the worst I’ve seen.. but it should heal fairly quickly with no wolfsbane.” Beatrice said. I could tell she was still very worried about it though.
“Don’t think about it.. just get some rest.” Lillian said. I nodded my head as my eyes began to feel heavy. Wow.. this mixture really worked so quickly.
I closed my eyes and not long after I drifted off into a deep sleep.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••
I woke up to the feeling of my bed dipping. I looked in the direction it came from and his manly scent filled my nose.
“Shh.” His voice was as soft as the satin of my gowns.
He placed his hand on my forehead and sighed.
“You’re burning up. Let me get you something.” He said. He stood up but I reached for him, grabbing his wrist and holding him tightly.
“Violette.. I need to help your fever go down. I’ll be right back.” He assured. I let out a whimper as I let him go. He walked over to my dresser and grabbed something before walking back to me.
“Beatrice showed me how to help.” He said. I didn’t question why she had done that.. I was feeling far to sickly to even think about it. He placed his hand under my head and held me up as I downed whatever contents that were in the cup. After I’d finished, he wiped my lips off with his thumb and laid me back down.
I looked out of my window and realized it’s dark outside now, I must’ve slept all day.
“Beatrice told me your pains came back.” He said. He sat on the side of my bed and stroked my hair gently.
“Yes.. they were the worst they’ve ever been.” I said as my eyes filled with tears.
“I’m sorry.. I wish I could stop them.” He said. I hadn’t really seen Master that much lately.. him being so close makes me feel better.. It just makes every pain of mine go away.
I didn’t say anything as he stared into my eyes. The candle light gave his features a gentle look.. and the look on his face made me believe what he said was true.
“You should go back to sleep.” He said.
“Are.. you leaving?” I asked. For some reason I really didn’t want him to.. I wanted him to stay. Him being around kept my mind at ease..
“I can stay until you fall asleep.” He replied. I nodded my head and he pulled the blanket over my shoulders. He stood there for a moment, contemplating something from the looks of it. He let out a soft sigh before he took a seat in the chair beside my bed.
I closed my eyes trying so hard to rest. I turned on my side so that I could look at him. He looked tired. Stressed, even. We just looked at each other for what felt like an eternity before my eyelids grew heavy once again. Finally, after a long while of just enjoying his presence, I was able to drift off into a deep, comforting sleep.
