The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2713

The ball kicked off with everyone's anticipation. I looked at the two individuals standing at the door, masks donned but looking helpless, and could not help but smile. I walked up to them and could not hold myself back from saying, "I say, you two ought to look happier. Everyone who's arrived does."

Even with her mask on, I could clearly see Shannon roll her eyes at me. Giving a stamp to the person who had just arrived, she replied, "If I knew I'd be the usher here, I wouldn't have agreed to you." "Exactly. Also, this stamp thing makes it look like we're a nightclub," Marius complained.

I could not help but pout at what they said. "You can go in and play in a while when there are no more people. Hang in there!"Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

With that, I went inside.

At a glance, I saw Theo in the corner. He looked out of place in his formal clothes but seemed to fit in more with the mask on his face.

I wondered if he could recognize me.

Thinking this, I grabbed a glass of red wine and walked toward him.

I slowly pushed the red wine before him. "Hey, handsome. Would you like to drink together?"

Theo accepted the wine and looked up at me. "Do you wish to walk home later?"

"You can still tell it's me."

"I could tell from your voice," Theo replied lightly.

He turned to look at the people at the scene all dazzling shapes and colors. Theo's features tightened. "It's too complicated. I'm going to the room. Call me when it's done." What a boring man.

Eyes fixed on Theo's fading figure, I called out, "Remember to come out in a bit later."

He lifted his hand and waved at me, signaling that he understood.

Ignoring him, I took a sip of wine.

This wine was good.

"The taste is mellow and sweet. You have excellent taste, President Lane."

A familiar voice rang in my ears and my eyes swept toward that person. "President Yard, it seems. I don't recall extending an invitation to you."

He likely knew my discard for the Yards and so he did not make much of my words.

His handsome brow raised slightly. Sylvester was wearing a half-faced evil wolf mask. The corners of this lip were hooked upwards, revealing a bloodthirstiness.

"My friend thought the event was pretty interesting and brought me with you. I also want to have a good conversation with you, President Lane."

I shrugged and replied in a

disapproving tone, "Do I even have

anything else to talk to you about, President Yard? If it's regarding the same things as before then I don't think there would be any need to talk about it. I won't return to the Yard family."

After saying that, I was about to leave when Sylvester who was behind me stopped me. "Don't you want to know the truth about your mother?"

I stopped in my tracks when I heard this and turned to look at him. "What do you mean?"

Seeing that my interest had been piqued, Sylvester's smile deepened. "I know you still care."

"Don't talk nonsense. What do you mean by that?" I wrinkled my brows, my expression complicated.

Sylvester still looked relaxed. "If you

want to know, find a time to come to the Ya

household. I think it's more appropriate for Grandfather to tell

your mom's story."

He was trying to trick me into going to Yard Mansion again.

I snorted coldly and let out a sneer. "You want to trap me by asking me to go to Yard Mansion again? I'm sorry but I won't be fooled again."

"That is unless you don't want to know the real cause behind your Mom's death and want to live with the false story for the rest of your life. If that's what you really want then respect your choice. It's your decision to come or not," Sylvester said finally and then walked away.

False story?

Could it be that the story I knew before was false? What exactly did Sylvester mean?

I was utterly confused. I had wanted to reject Sylvester unwaveringly before it was hard for me to resist when my mother came into the picture.

It would be better for me to discuss this with Theo this evening, I thought.
