The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2737

I was just a step away from my mother's room. I reached my hand out toward the doorknob before lightly turning it open.

No, I could not go in now.

This was not the best time.

I pulled back my hand and turned to leave.

When I came back to the room, Rooney had just come out of the bathroom. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting. My tummy was a little unwell," Rooney apologized with a smile. Her smile seemed to put all the flowers to shame. She was a really beautiful girl!

Her every move and action looked so beautiful to me.

For a moment, I could not help but be stunned by her.

""Wanda?"

Her voice brought me back to my senses.

"Let's go look for Sylvester."

"Alright."

I followed Rooney downstairs. Sylvester just so happened to notice us and looked up. "Did you guys simply run about?" Sylvester was obviously directing that at me.

Just when I was about to reply, Rooney beat me to it. "We didn't. Wanda has been keeping me company in my room."

"That's good."

Seeing Sylvester heave a sigh of relief, I started feeling suspicious. Was he afraid that I would have gone off on my own and discovered something?

Just when I was thinking this, I felt a hand tug me. Coming back to my senses, I realized it was Rooney. "Wanda, would you like to stay for dinner?"

To avoid Sylvester seeing through to my intention, I waved my hand. "No need. I still have some errands to run. Since Sylvester has looked over the project, I won't disturb you two anymore." "Is that so..." Rooney looked disappointed.

"President Lane has things to do. Let her go. She can come over again when she's free next time," Sylvester comforted her.

Rooney's sullen expression instantly

perked up when she heard that, and

she turned to me with an

anticipatory look. "Is that true, Wanda? Will you really come and spend time with me next time?"

I looked at Sylvester. Noticing the look he was shooting me, I nodded. "I sure will."

"That's wonderful."

I could tell Rooney was really happy.

"I'll send President Lane off." Sylvester pulled me forward.

He accompanied me to the door, and I noticed Sylvester seemed different now that he was no longer in front of Rooney.

"Rooney is not from the city. She's from a village and doesn't have many friends after coming here alone. If it's convenient for you, could you next time..." He did not finish, but I understood what he meant.

"Sure," I agreed. Probably too much too quickly out of my love for pretty girls.

"Thank you. You can't simply walk around Yard Mansion, though. I hope you can also promise me this." Sylvester's tone was serious, his expression severe.

I noted the slight warning in his eyes. "Okay. Rooney is a good girl. Treat her well."

Sylvester seemed stunned for a

moment when he heard this. He

then replied to me, "I don't need net

to tell me that. Of course, I will. I'll cherish her alone in my life.

Who would not cherish the favor of such a beautiful girl?

I could not stop myself from nodding. "I can leave on my own. You don't need to send me off, President Yard. You can go back."

"Be careful on your way." After Sylvester said this, he turned around and went back into the living room.

After he left, my gaze returned to the figures that were coming and going upstairs again. Sylvester was getting all of Silas things packed up. This was not only a confirmation that Silas

als would not be coming back but

also a show of certainty that Silas

would not be troubling him anymore.

It felt like Sylvester was too sure about this, and it was a little strange.

With deep doubts plaguing me, I left Yard Mansion. Perhaps the secret would slowly reveal itself in the future...
