Passion 29
Xavier's throat tightened. A strange look crossed his eyes. He didn't have to say anything for Mark to know what he was thinking.
According to Lane Group's operations department, a big business owner was supposed to be coming. The business owner was going to provide huge amounts of funds for Lane Group to carry out Project Hope, a charity project.
Everyone in the company was talking about it.

"Who knows? Maybe he has too much money that he doesn't know how to spend."
"I heard that he came from abroad..."
Meanwhile, Yvette's car had just arrived at Lane Group's headquarters. She gazed up at the towering buildings in front of her.
The rapid development and expansion of the company could be attributed to Xavier's iron-handed leadership and the Lanes' solid foundation.
Over the past four years, Yvette hadn't neglected herself either. With Claude's help, she had started her own company and earned some money.
Before coming back to Tirion, she had made a lot of preparations.
When she had learned that Lane Group was preparing to
inject capital in order to launch Project Hope all across the nation, she decided to propose a collaborative investment under that pretext.
Under the guise of a partnership, she now had an excuse to get closer to Xavier.
She had just appeared at the charity auction the day before to attract his attention. Otherwise, with just the investment partnership, she wouldn't have been able to actually see Xavier personally. Thus, she wanted to pique his interest and make him come to her on his own Lion.
Yvette opened the car door and got down. The representative from Lane Group, Marcus Russo, was already waiting for her at the door.
When he saw that it was an elegantly dressed woman, he was a little confused. "You're the business owner, Snyder?"
Yvette didn't confirm or deny it. "What? You don't think I could possibly be Snyder?"
While Marcus was stunned, she pulled up their chat history
He immediately shook his head and said, "Of course not. You're truly a beautiful angel inside and out."
Or, in other words, she was easily swindled.
Marcus led Yvette to the visitor's room. Then, he went to invite the person-in-charge over.
Not long after, Yvette heard footsteps, followed by the sound of the door clicking shut. She looked up, catching Xavier's
cold eyes.
Their gazes met. Xavier's eyes seemed to want to probe into her mind. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Yvette feigned surprise. "It's you?"
Xavier didn't believe that she had lost her memory. Seeing that she was still putting on a show, he approached her and said, "What a coincidence." He emphasized the last word. Yvette continued her facade. "You're the person in charge of this project?"
"More accurat
I'm in charge of Lane Group. My name is
Xavier Lane." Xavier stared at her intently.
That day, Yvette had opted for casual business attire. She looked capable and experienced.
Before she had arrived, Xavier had already found everything out. She had established a trading company abroad. A montl ago, she had discussed funding Project Hope with Lane Group's operations manager. "So, you're Mr. Lane. What a pleasure to meet you." Yvette' expression didn't change in the slightest. "I'd like to invest-
Before she could finish her sentence, Xavier interrupted her. I don't want to talk about business today. Let's talk about your memory loss."
Xavier regarded her while keeping his composure, waitin for her to drag on her lie.
The atmosphere in the room grew strangely tense. It was i
if the air in the room had grown thinner.
As he faced the woman who had once pursued and admired him for well over a decade, Xavier couldn't describe what he was feeling.
"If you don't remember me, then who do you remember? Claude?"
If the old Yvette had heard that, she would have definitely gotten upset. But now she knew that the most important thing to her was her ill son.
"I don't understand what you just said, but I'm not lying to you. I used to su r from severe depression.
"In the brain of a depressed person, their brain cells go into a state similar to atrophy, causing brain functions to
deteriorate.
"Not only does it lead to slower responses, but it also causes poor memory and leads to intermittent memory loss.
"The doctor said that forgetting certain people and incidents might be a defense mechanism. My brain is afraid that I'll get hurt if I think about those people or incidents."
