Chapter 48
Chapter 48
Two days passed and Veronica was feeling so burned out.
Bael Force had been facing troubles lately that she couldn't even find time to talk to her twins and
even to think about Rawlf.
Or so she thought.
Everytime she would take time to rest or nap or sleep, her thoughts would end up drifting to the
man and his last words would echo in her mind.
She knew where to find him but then what?
What is she going to tell him?!
She's not yet ready to tell him the truth about their children.
Her insecurities' eating her heart out. She's at a loss and now that Bael Force had been facing a
lot of troubles, she considered it as a blessing in disguise as she had been very busy that she would
temporarily forget about the dilemma she put herself in.
After two days of not sleeping well and finally, after completing a strategy of safeguarding Bael
Force from further attacks and to prevent losses, which proves to be effective, Veronica decided to go
back to her suite to have a proper rest.
Well, she could do that in Bael Force HQ as she has her own luxurious bedroom inside her office
but she missed Rawlf so much that she could only come back to her suite to at least smell his scent on All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
the pillow and to somehow alleviate her longing for him.
"Pardon my intrusion, lady, but are you fine? I think you should take a proper rest as you look so
pale right now." Zero's words brought Veronica back from her deep thoughts.
Veronica straightened her back from reclining and moved to get ready, "'I'm alright. I'll return to my
suite tonight. Contact me right away if another trouble or attack will happen."
Zero, afraid to sound even more intrusive than he is already, no longer says anything and just
bowed and afterwards, walked out of his Lady Cleopatra's office.

Midnight.
Soft and gentle footsteps could be heard inside Veronica's suite. Then, the woman's bedroom door
opened gently.
Veronica was on high alert ever since she heard the soft click of her suite's door.
The death of the night plus her years as an assassin in the underworld made her hearing sense
increase that she right away heard the opening of the door.
Veronica was already hiding the gun on her left hand she carefully pulled out earlier under the
bed's soft foam. Now she waited patiently yet on high alert to the intruder's next action.
The only thing she guessed would be her disadvantage is when the attacker would choose to
shoot her in her "sleep".
Her quick reflex is her only hope to help her in this situation so Veronica stilled, calmed her
breathing and fully allerted all her senses.
But after inhaling the unique scent of the man she longed for, for days, Veronica's tense body
started to relax.
However, she still pretends to sleep as she's not yet ready to talk to the man and reveal to him the
truth.

Rawlf couldn't understand himself. Yes, he was the one who should be waiting but two days, only
two days passed and yet, he couldn't help himself but visit her around this time just to stealthily see
her....to at least, cure his longing for her, even if temporarily.
This situation between them would only end if one decides to concede.
No matter how much she longed and missed her, Rawlf hardened his heart and decided to wait for
her.
Although his possessive tendency made him want to just abduct her and lock her somewhere
forever, Rawlf knew better.
What he realized that he wanted, after just two days of not having her beside him, was not only her
body.
Rawlf understood in himself that he also wanted her heart and soul----- and for her to choose him
willingly. But that wish couldn't be fulfilled if he would just let her trample on his pride now.
Yes, he wanted to spoil her, but only to spoil her to the point of her considering him irreplaceable in
her life.
For her not to take him for granted. And the first thing to do was to let her admit her wrong and to
seek after him. Yet, two days already passed and here, the woman who made him restless for the past
days, was comfortably sleeping.
Rawlf smiled in self mockery. This is indeed martyrdom.
"Two days passed and yet you're still not ready", Rawlf softly said, his voice barely audible but
Veronica managed to hear him.
"Is he so important to you that you would rather lose me than to admit and tell me the truth?"
Another silence. But the man's next words shattered all of Veronica's insecurities.
"I am more willing to accept you, and your past with him, or all of your past while you were gone.
All of it... ..... Even if you already bore him children, I don't mind, I would take them as my own and love
them as my own as long as I know that you choose to be by my side..........................As long as you
choose me."
Rawlf's sad and defeated voice made it hard for Veronica not to sob, 'This man! How could she
deserve this man to think that she even doubted him.'
"I missed you so much," After that, the man approached the "sleeping woman" in the bed and
lightly kissed the top of her head.
As if not satisfied, he proceeded on her forehead.
Rawlf had the urge to kiss her on the lips but had to control himself from doing so as he might lose
the last thin strand of his self control and devour her on the bed in spite of their complicated situation.
After Rawlf had his enough share of looking at her and memorizing her sleeping features, he
slowly walked his way out to the bedroom's door.
When he was near the door, soft yet urgent footsteps landed on the floor. He quickly turned to face
the bed yet surprised as the soft body of the woman landed on his embrace.
"Rawlf." The woman then started sobbing, "Rawlf."
