Whispers Of Betrayal (Anastasia and Alastor)

Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Anastasia’s hands were shaking as she picked up Alastor’s phone.

Despite the low quality of the photos in the album, her face and features were still discernible.

“Who

gave them to you?” Anastasia asked with a trembling voice.

She wanted to know who was behind the malicious slander against her.

The photos were clearly digitally manipulated. With the current advancement of the AI face swap technique, she expected Alastor to understand that they were fake.

However, Alastor’s expression showed that he seemed to believe it.

Anastasia didn’t explain herself because she knew she could never convince a person who believed in what he wanted to believe.

Besides, there was no way she could ever clarify the slander thrown at her.

Most importantly, Alastor didn’t trust her.

Smiling sarcastically, Alastor asked, “Is that important?”

“You’re accusing me of not trusting you, but have you ever trusted me?” As she looked at Alastor, Anastasia breathed heavily and was on the verge of breaking down. “Tell me, who gave you these photos? Was it Xavier or Felicia?”

“Anastasia, I would believe you if only one person criticized you, but have you ever introspected and looked at your actions when everyone around you, including your closest friends and family, are saying negative things about you?” Without disclosing the photos’ origin, Alastor took his phone and turned to leave.

Anastasia sat stiffly on the chair, looking at the four agreements in front of her that seemed ridiculous and pitiful.

She resembled a scheming woman who was trying to use every means possible against Alastor. She used the evidence of his infidelity to force him to leave their marriage with nothing and write a will, and she compelled him not to grant any status or inheritance rights to his mistress and their children.

Anastasia’s ears buzzed loudly. When she stood up, she instantly collapsed.

As a sharp pain filled Anastasia’s chest, breathing became difficult for her. Her heart throbbed intensely, and she called out, “Alastor…”

Anastasia came to the realization that she might have sustained a fracture from the fall.

Her bone density had deteriorated significantly, making her prone to fractures from minor external impacts. This was something the doctor had cautioned her about.

“Please… Call the ambulance for me, pleaded Anastasia. She didn’t want to die at that moment.

She thought she had fully grasped the concept of life and death, but when death was looming, she realized she still had many regrets and unfinished matters. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

“Please…” Anastasia begged in a weak voice.

She was in so much pain.

Standing by the door, Alastor frowned at what he saw. He clearly didn’t believe that Anastasia was in discomfort. “Call the ambulance yourself,” he said coldly.

With that, he closed the door and left.

Curled on the ground in despair, Anastasia felt her body grow numb from the pain.

She believed that she had given her whole heart to Alastor in the past four years, but even so, she had not received any sincerity and trust in return.

Alastor didn’t believe in her.

Considering their blitz marriage as strangers, it was understandable for Alastor to be cautious and guarded toward her. In this relationship, she was the only one foolish enough to give her wholehearted devotion because he promised her a

home.

As her vision grew increasingly blurry, Anastasia no longer had the strength to call for an ambulance,

She

didn’t mind dying like this as nothing mattered anymore.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go her way.

Anastasia woke up from pain in the middle of the night.

Struggling to get up, Anastasia managed to grab the phone on the table before falling back to the ground again.

This time, she seemed to have fractured her wrist.

Anastasia didn’t know who she could trust, and she also lacked the strength to speak.

The first person she called was Kimberly, but the latter didn’t hear the call since her phone was in sleep mode at this time of the night.

Anastasia’s fingers fell weakly as she gazed at the ceiling with a blurry vision.

She wondered, “Is there still a need to stay alive? Nobody really cares about my well-being, anyway.”

“Meow! Meow!”

Snowball snuggled up in Anastasia’s arms, whimpering in fear.

Tears poured out of Anastasia’s eyes. Remembering that she still hadn’t found a good owner for Snowball, she realized she could not die yet and had to save herself.

“Anastasia? Did something happen, Anastasia?”

With a feeble attempt, Anastasia dialed Jason’s number. Subconsciously, she believed that the young man would still come

to her rescue.

“Anastasia?”

Jason calling her name was the last thing Anastasia heard before she lost consciousness.

Darkness consumed her, and no matter how desperately she ran, she couldn’t escape from the endless darkness.

“Annie, come to me. Come with me, okay? I can’t bear to let you suffer alone in this world. How can a child survive without their mother? Annie…”

In a trance, Anastasia seemed to hear her mother calling out for her.

Time and time again, the voice tried to pull her into the abyss.

Anastasia used to hate her mother for almost killing her.

However, she suddenly understood everything when she got pregnant.

She was dying, and nobody in this world cared about her well-being. In the future, no one would care about her child as

– well.

“Is keeping the child really the right choice? Is it justifiable to make the child repeat my suffering and live a life akin to hell?” Anastasia wondered.
