Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 44

Chapter 44 Can You Sleep In Peace?

“Tell her I'm busy.”

“Yes, Ms. Mala.”

Mala hung up and continued to focus on her work.

“Did she receive the flowers?” Cedric asked as he set aside his files. “Yes, they were delivered. Ms. Mala has received them.” Baz replied. “How did she react?”

Baz chose his words carefully. “Ms. Mala gave the roses to her employees. Everyone in the company got one. She also transferred 27 thousand dollars into our corporate account.”

How dare she give her staff the roses and then send him the money? She was making it clear that she wanted nothing to do with him.

Baz could feel his boss getting angrier. He could only lower his head and try to disappear, thinking, ‘Ms. Maia is bold. This was the first time his boss had ever given anyone flowers. Yet, she gave them all to someone else!"

Suddenly, he heard the sound of a pen snapping in half. Baz felt a shiver down his spine. For the next few hours, HL Corporation was shrouded in a cloud of gloom, which did not lift until the end of the day. When it was finally 5 p.m., Maia looked at the time and bid her secretary farewell after signing her last document.

Maia boarded the elevator to the basement parking lot. As she backed her car out, a car appeared out of nowhere and blocked her path.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

Maia could barely stop her car in time as she stepped on the brake. An elegant lady dressed in expensive clothing got off and walked toward Maia’s car-—it was Rita!

Maia did not expect Rita to be so persistent just to see her. Then again, it was not all that surprising. She was Cedric’s mother, and her status would get her everywhere. How would she give up easily when Maia was the one who rejected seeing her?

Rita scowled in distaste as she glared at Maia. “How dare you reject me? We need to talk!” “| have nothing to say to you. Now, could you please get out of my way?”

Rita had no plans to leave.

She continued fiercely, “Maia, your company is nothing compared to HL Corporation! | suggest you tell me what you’re scheming. You almost caused Zera to hurt herself. What would you do if anything were to happen to her?”

Maia smiled mockingly. Instead of getting off, she lowered her window.

“Your son dragged me there against my will. | merely showed you ladies the truth. As for why I’m back, that’s none of your business!”

“| knew you weren't a simple girl. You plotted against us while pretending to be the perfect daughter-in-law! | should've known better. How could Rosa’s daughter be good?”

Maia was used to Rita’s cruel words. When she was Cedric’s wife, Rita and Zera had never stopped trying to make her life difficult. Maia was tired of explaining herself.

Besides, Rita had already made up her mind. Maia’s fingers tapped her steering wheel impatiently as Rita continued on like a clown.

Maia’s calm, almost cold demeanor starkly contrasted with Rita’s near—hysterical behavior.

“Mrs. Rita, don’t forget that you were responsible for my baby’s death,” she interjected, ” Were you able to sleep in peace this past year?*

Rita’s blabbering instantly stopped as she stared at Maia in horror.

Maia smiled coldly, satisfied with Rita’s reaction. “You should appreciate your remaining freedom because your future isn’t looking so good!”

Maia stepped on the accelerator and sped away with a loud bang.

She had collided head-on with the car parked in front of her. As Maia drove away from the basement parking, Rita remained rooted to the spot, her face as white.

Maia could not stop crying on the road as she remembered how helpless she had been before. Because she was weak, Rita pushed her and killed her child.

It does not matter how much time has passed, her emotional scars will constantly be there.

How could she forget? Whoever had hurt her would have to pay! As tears ran down Maia’s cheeks, she tightened her grip on the steering wheel.

About 15 minutes later, Maia pulled into Tess’s residence. Prior to going upstairs, she cleaned up and checked that everything was okay.

Tess was rushing in and out of the kitchen when she walked in. When Tess heard Maia, she ran out of the kitchen to welcome her.

+15 BONUS “You're here! Wait, why are your eyes red?” “Are they? Maybe | was just too busy these days,” Maia replied nonchalantly.

“I'm not trying to nag, but you should care for yourself! | know the company is important to you, but so is your health. I'll finish up, and we can have dinner soon!”

“Thanks, Aunt Tess.” Maia nodded obediently and strolled into the living room.

Sitting in the middle of the living room was an engrossed Errol. He was so caught up with his work that he did not notice his sister.

By the time Errol noticed her, she had already taken one of the reports that were spread out on the coffee table and read it. Errol signed to his sister, “Hey sis, you’re here!”

Maia was impressed by her brother’s abilities as she stared at the booking list for the winery.

This number of bookings had significantly increased since last year, and this was clearly due to Errol’s hard work.

“You shouldn't overwork yourself,” Maia commented with concern.

“People my age should be working their heads off! If I've started something, | need to do my best! I'll make sure that no one can question our abilities. Besides, | want to make Mom proud!”

The moment Errol brought up their mother, Maia recalled what Phil had told her about her mother’s death. Maia was debating whether to tell Errol the truth.

Her brow furrowed from stress. Mala gured her life of timeline, to it from

Her brow furrowed from stress. Maia pursed her lips into a fine line, deciding to keep it from Errol. She did not want to burden him with the truth and add on his worries.

Just then, Maia’s cell phone rang.
